- Following the popular and critical international success of her Haydn and Hummel concertos recording, Alison Balsom has recorded a programme of Italian Baroque concertos.
In this recording, Balsom, the 2009 Classical BRIT Artist of the Year, plays popular concertos originally composed for the violin or oboe by Vivaldi, Tartini, B. Marcello, Albinoni and Cimarosa, accompanied by the Scottish Ensemble.

One thing for sure, when she said she liked a challenge-she meant that. Most of this music of course was written for violin
or oboe. Speaking from a brass players prospective-this music is extemly difficult especially the wide arpeggios-it is difficult
to do on any brass instrument-but she pulled it off, and all I can say is- WOW-What a Player!

Alison... You made my day. With this short UA-cam movie. Your trumpet sound is incredible. When I was young, I played the trumpet (a B Cornett) for about 14 years. Then the time at university came and I had no time anymore to play. Then when I start my Jobtime until today, I am always looking back to these times with my small trumpet. You are so beautiful when you'r playing your fanfare , even when you are playing trumpets made of plastic. I want to say thank you. Thank you for all your trumpet music and amazing sounds. I first heard this on my local classical station. My thought was .... brilliant these pieces arranged for trumpet. Then I was...wow !!!!....this person practices a lot! Brilliantly.... Then I caught the last name and went to u tube and
thing got even better. I discovered Alison Balsam her recordings. I was inspired to pick up my horn again.
For several days I have been listening to Alison Balsom's various UA-cam recordings and interviews. I used to be a professional trombonist. I think her playing is damn near flawless and extraordinarily musical!
She is also one of the most beautiful young women I have ever seen!

Many excellent musicians are worried about how fast they play their instruments. They are acrobats who make impossible somersaults. Alison Balsom plays with perfection, with beauty. Each note is a note. The musical phrase is pronounced clearly without haste. Her music is beautiful just as she is beautiful.

There are a few lady trumpeters around the world but Alison is in a class of her own. I tried the trumpet 55 years ago having been head cadet bugler at school. I know how difficult it is to play this fickle instrument. She has tremendous talent. The dedication it takes to play even well, let alone brilliantly is mind blowing. On top of that, she's drop dead gorgeous!
