I miss the sound of the C-5 Galaxy when it had the Pratt & Whitney engines on it. That deep grinding roar got into your soul and made the C-5 a real event to be around. Now it sounds like a generic large passenger jet. The newer engines are better in every way but they don't have THAT SOUND.
Dunno if there’s a variant I hadn’t heard with P&W’s…but I miss the GE TF39’s. That scream! Makes all your bones vibrate. Your right, while awesome, these engines lack that visceral soundtrack.
The answer is in what it weighed here to what it can weigh when fully loaded. This is why you see airliners at airshows climbing at ridiculous angles, they have very little fuel, no passengers and no luggage so their power to weight ratio is very high.
Some eas ago, we went to an airshow, @ WILKES BARRE AIRPORT, THE C5A, I walked through the cargo bay, buy the wait for COCKPIT was over 1 hour, THE AWACS, B707 TYPE, 5 HOUR WAIT, BUT GOT INTO A KC135 for PENNA NAT GUARD, it had CFM56 engines, CAPT was a very nice lady,, LOTS of other military & civilian, it was an active civil airport . Great day,🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Record attendance this year. Isn't sharing a love for aviation and inspiring others what it is all about? If it takes a few heavies to help draw in a crowd, what's the harm?

what the estimated distance on that landing
C-5 looked like it was participating in the STOL competition. That's some impressive braking. And an astonishingly short rotation distance
Every landing and takeoff is a STOL competition for the C-5A
Talked with the PIC of the C5 about that landing, he was definitely proud of it, as he should be! It was quite a sight.
It's the C-5M SUPER GALAXY
That C5 stopped and rotated quicker than some Bonnies I’ve seen at Osh! Magnificent flying!!
I have it on good authority that the C-17’s windshield wipers were specially designed to scrape off ultralights. :)
3:03 In so many of these videos the Ford Tri-Motor is the "large" airplane, but not so much this time! Great footage as always!
My brother flew c-17s for 15 years
Awesome aircraft
Can't beat heavies sometimes especially with the light aircraft contrast. Awesome vid as always 👌
these military planes are so awesome
C5 landing gear is amazing
Oshkosh has so little shade you will be surprised by how many people move under the C-5s.
Been there done that at Offutt open house.
Caution: wake turbulence on the taxiway.
Yet another great video, guys!!!!!!!
Thank you for this video!! Greetings from Argentina
Best air show coverage channel on UA-cam! Thank you for all you guys do to get us this awesome content!
Thank you for watching!
For anyone not familiar, that first huge aircraft, is a C-5 Galaxy, the second pulled by the tractor, is a C-17
C5's a hotrod when she's empty.. awesome!
You could fly one of those little planes in one end of the C-5 and out the other
loved the framing of the old tri-motor & the C-17.
Nunca me canso de ver al c-17 y al c-5, y cuando hay tomas de cerca (close view) es mas disfrutable!!
The extremely big boys are back in town.
Still gives me the fascination I had at childhood when I watch these behemoths leave terra firma. Incredible. Tip of the cap to engineers.

Hello. Awesome planes! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Beautiful huge birds, thank you 💯❤
Your videos are the absolute best.
Pájaros muy , muy grandes.
Saludos.
I see this everyday yall, I’m stationed at Travis!
I was driving pass Andrew's and ine of these fly over the highway, shook my whole truck,a marvel to see.
Awesome show of the c5, but it will never looked as Grand as a Lancaster taking off!
The new engines may be more efficient, but they don't sound near as good as the old ones..
Any video of the c5 or the c17 being refueled in mid air
"FRED" had quite the hard landing there at the beginning.
Likely cause of a shorter runway. It’s empty so it’ll brake a lot better once wheels touch down
happy feet on that globemaster
How the devil did that colossal thing stop so bloody fast?? I am stunned 😲

@@bruce2357 thankyou 👍
The C-17 uses the same engines as the 757, right?
The engines are based off the 757 engines. They have a few differences but are pretty much the same
General Electric CF6's, as developed for the DC-10
Аnother masterpiece !!!
you'd think fighter jets are too cool and then you see these behemoths

やっぱデカい
A shame it's blueprints were stolen by a certain country. This is such a game changing aircraft for the military.
Is the C-5 retired?
Nope still active
52 are still in service, modernised & re-engined with CF6's
now that's a frecking plahe
Forget the military plane, is that a tri motor?
As always!
Yes it is!
Ford Trimotor, gives rides I believe
@@AndreiTupolev Every flight on each day was sold out. It's a popular aircraft.
What's up again I also seen that plane land when I was heading towards the sea plane base LOL
hahaha yesss did you go to the Watermelon Social?
Just for shits and giggles the tower should have said "C5, land on the red dot..........nah, just kidding".
Amazing , like whales with wings!!! lol
Mmmmm... EAA, Experimental Aircraft Association, kinda losing the way .
