  • In this video I will show you my scale routine and how to get there in a few steps.
Remember: scales are good for you. The key to developing a good technique is consistency. Consistency in your practice, your tone, your rhythm and your musical habits. Practice scales every day, and if they start to feel easy, mix them up! Get out of your comfort zone and keep developing your technique.
Ideally you should be able to master a level, in all keys, before moving onto the next one. In this video, I will only demonstrate in the key of C Major for simplicity, but I hope you get the vibe.
When doing scales, remember: always remain musical. There are a few concepts that I insist on with my students when we are doing scales:
    1. Always be focused.
    2. Always be musical.
    3. Always get to the end of the key.
    4. Always be relaxed.
    5. Always make a beautiful tone.
    6. Always avoid accents: play with an even, flowing tone.
Moving the fingers is great, making music is better.
Get on with it now! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch. I will be happy to help you :)
And remember: Scales are good for you.

Thought I'd check out your old videos too because I already enjoyed all, the other ones. Though the first one is probably not as good as your more recent ones. Turns out I'm wrong!

Which order you recommend to practice scales? Like major scales, obviously start from C major.
