- Low Elo Legends returns with a rather lopsided game. Pickles4Days was off to a slow start and did his best to hang on while the enemy was living the dream with longbows, yet no loom. Comebacks are possible but this one seemed over for so long... But is there light at the end of the dark, pickly tunnel?

A poor, unknown, clueless pickle, starting from mining berries, going through unforgettable highs and lows, like his whole army torn apart, his homeland burned down to the ground, showed us the greatest comeback of all time among low elo legends, rising from the ashes all the way up to ruling the whole land. I watch every Low Elo Legends video and that berry bush mining camp is the funniest thing I've ever seen.
I've done that, and didn't notice that it was wrong building until I started building farms around the mine camp!

i did this yesterday with a lumber camp instead of mining camp on stone close to the forest... after a while : why do i have so much wood and 0 stone?
Worst thing is it was a clear mistake rather than a bad decision.

Every tournament is boring compared to low elo legends: hidden cup, world cup, masters of arena, etc.

Yes, Salt could have won at that point if he had just reboomed. But the past 45 minutes of that game makes it clear that Salt thought you shouldn't (or hell, maybe even couldn't) make villagers in the Imperial Age. So even if he hadn't resigned, I think at that point, Pickles wins eventually no matter what simply because he had more villagers and was actually making even more.
Also, one thing I thought was funny that T90 didn't mention is that Pickles didn't have to build that market near his new town center. His first market in his old base was still intact.

Low Elo Legends reminds me of the old days when I thought I had to get all the blacksmith upgrades because I thought it was a good idea to get every type of unit.
And honestly for low elo players, it's not a bad idea to just get everything. Especially if you're floating so many resources. It's way better than just not getting anything

When i was a child i would do every upgrade randomly because i didnt know English and what upgrades would do.

The fact that we played this game as kids has no bearing on the statement that kids don't play this game. We are partially drawn by nostalgia. I think there is some truth to the idea that this game has an older player base.
Older on average than other games, maybe, but not exclusively. The recent surge in popularity for AOE2 will include many under 20s discovering the game for the first time. And while nostalgia might lead many OG fans back into the game now, it's not like the appeal of resource-management, empire-building and rts mechanics is exclusive to older generations. The lack of innovation in the rts genre isn't because of lack of interest from new fans, it's because so much of what makes the genre great has already been perfected by either AOE (2 specifically), StarCraft, and Command and Conquer.
@@SeaBomb Yeah, now if only Blizzard didn't destroy WC3, but then again, more players for AoE2 and other RTS games I guess

@@SeaBomb that still does not make an argument that as we played this 20 y ago when it was new thing with nothing else to play, kids are playing this nowadays. Even if kids were 90% of playerbase now that will have little connection to us playing it back then.

Been enjoying your videos for quite some time now. My favourites are your Low Elo Legends. Its not only fun to watch low elo games, because of the variety and suprises. But you're a great caster and very charismatic which makes it much more fun to watch. I hope you will make more of LEL.

I'm great with eco, I know which upgrades to get depending on the army comp I'm using. I suck at micro and I'm not good at judging when is the right time to attack and how much force to use...
This is obviously Huang vs MbL. Huang goes all in aggro but then stops doing any eco, and MbL survives no matter what and outlasts his opponent.
Frank skrims beating Brit Longbow basically summed up what LEL is about.

I think that Red's biggest mistake was to not finish the enemy. He almost destroyed Blue's base and instead of keeping the massive army together and destroying the military buildings, he divided it and thought that it was over. This allowed Blue to rebound and Red saw some lost engagements with Blue's Paladin/Skirmisher army; though that it can't be beaten and resigned.
I am way more hype for low elo legends than I was for kotd. The pros are basically playing a completely different game, at least lel is the same game that I play |3
I love this video series, since it gives me hints on what to keep track of, but also makes me feel better about my fast(ish)-imp-gun-powder-trash-shenanigans.

That was an amazing game. Pickles would have been so much better with upgrades, and Salt would have closed it out if he would have spent more of his thousands of resources in early imp. It played out beautifully, though, and I loved every minute of it!

T90 said he had a soft spot for wanting Blue to win. Well, I have a hard time for wanting them to win (circa 15 min) when the Blue player can see the Red player attacking the palisade wall with archers; Blue has skirmishers to demolish those archers; Blue does not bother to move those skirmishers anywhere near the archers in order to protect his villagers!
Now Red has gotten me to want Blue to win more. They broke open the hole, and then had the archers attack more of the wall instead of destroying 5 villagers easily.
19:00 Blue (Pickles) attacks Red (Creasing) and slaughters villagers who have not researched Loom (I guess they are worried about Maleficent). Red attacks the palisade walls and will likely slaughter Blue's villagers soon.

I can relate to misclicking a mining camp onto berries. I did that exact thing in a game and managed to win. I'm not exactly sure how it happened.

I played my first ranked match because of these videos. Got arena, he put houses over my gates, and started castle-ing non stop around my walls. Not to mention he went goths 😭.
he really just lost because as soon as he was in blue's teritory, he split up his army so much that blue picked it up and destroyed it. if he would have kept it in one piece, he would have steam rolled blue with that one push. he had the army and the trebs.

it looks like red practiced a BO but they don't have good fundamentals so they dont spend their money and they dont reproduce villagers and army. Forgetting loom (they definitely just forgot) isn't a big deal because red can just rebuild the villagers if they had good macro.
I need more Low ELO Legends and Fatslob content. They have the best games.

If red would go any cavalry+pike+rams(as a gold unit)switch from longbows and use map resources properly he could finish of the game easily and even i would not have counter to that + hiding some pikes inside rams so when blue's cavalry strikes em he can ungarrison and defend them
That would be ideal,but that comment is just how i learn(point is to create logic that beats stuff easily and learn it) from various weird yet exciting situations
Lol I'm the kind of player to use diplomacy and just boom boom boom then slowly work my way into my "allies" bases and then snuff out a civ in minutes... really hard to pull off lol but worth the meme
This was honestly a SICK game
I don't know why, but it seems like a consistent theme for sub 900 elo players to be decent in the early/mid game - but then completely forget that the imperial age is a thing, even when floating +10k resources. Generally, not spending resources is the one common weakness it seems every lel player has, regardless of their playstyle and strengths/shortcomings. I think if they just got in their head to spend resources when they float so much, most of them would jump instantly from 600 elo to 1000 elo no problem.

I figure that one of the reasons i like low elo legends is that i don't have to feel exasperation trying to correct mistakes since i have no stakes on the players. I get to just enjoy the game and let T90 do the exasperation.

RED HAD THE BIGGEST THROW IN AOE HISTORY
What I hate about DE is I spend 5 minutes looking for a ranked team game just for someone to disconnect or crash within the first minute. I have 40 ranked games on my profile but I've only actually played around 10 so my win:loss is scuffed.
That's just an age of empires thing in general not just DE. Half the games I have over 1700 hours on team games and almost half the games I've played someone leaves within the first minute of the match
