    Cindy, great videos! I actually came of age in the 1960s in West Haven, CT... lived variously in Hamden, New Haven, Storrs (attended UConn)... born in Europe (Army brat) so I spent my childhood in West Germany, Luxembourg, and France before my father retired & we moved to his home city. He was from Fair Haven, actually. My mother was from Luxembourg, where I now also have citizenship. Anyway, I loved Connecticut and still have fond memories... not sure if it's because I'm longing for my youth again (I'm 75) or the beach vibe around Milford, West Haven, and so on.
    My main gripe with CT would be the humidity & heat in summer PLUS those mosquitoes that eat one alive. That's the same all up and down the East Coast. My father, like several other family members, discovered San Diego during his military career and settled in Chula Vista (another cool place). So... I enjoyed your video on many levels... I have watched UA-cam videos of walking or driving in CT... in New Haven, the Yale University campus for example... Clinton area, where my Irish ancestors landed during the potato famine in 1850 before moving to Branford and then to Fair Haven... yeah, a major part of life (and memories) still lives in Connecticut.
    Bottom line: my wife and I will stay in San Diego. We live in Grantville, in a 1957 midcentury modern... we just renovated it... bought it in 1986 for $120,000 and it's probably valued at over $1.1 million today. Hence, I understand your point about wishing you had bought early. But you are still young, and markets go up and down. You'll catch the wave at the right time, and travel upward. Well, enough blather.... really enjoyed your video for sentimental reasons plus your charming personality. Are you from Ansonia? Derby? Shelton? where in CT did you call home? thanks John T. Cullen, retired but still author... and walker (3-5 miles a day).😎

    Great video. Moved here around the same time you did. Bought a house 7 months after arrival. It has since doubled in value and refinanced it during the low interest rates craze. With today’s real estate prices, I’d recommend people move elsewhere. Rent, purchasing prices, and mortgage rates are just way too high nowadays. Weather is also a tad bit overrated. Winter gets colder than advertised as does the ocean. Don’t get me wrong, love it here. Non- working days feel like vacations. However, if the real estate prices were where they are at today when I moved I would have never came.

    Enjoyed your video, Cindy! Going through that same "planning stage" myself. I always thought that I would end up in Laguna Beach. But the more I visit San Diego, the more I like it -- especially, North San Diego County. Congratulation on making the move and building a life in a truly great city!!

    I already know what my chosen areas to live in are in San Diego from living there for so many years. Lol I know where I would want to live and where I wouldn’t.

    I agree, the sceneries are the best. Especially if you’re a local and know about them “hidden gems”. You should make a video highlighting them.

    You better have a backup plan, like learn to code. Homes sale hit a 30 year low, and it'll get worse.

    I do prefer to live in the beach areas, so I’m more partial to La Jolla and Pacific Beach. And maybe even Mission page perhaps. I don’t care for alcohol or the hotter inland areas much and I don’t like it way down south like national city in Chula Vista. So when are if I do come back, I’ll be searching, and La Jolla and Pacific Beach areas!

    I moved from beautiful San Diego, California reluctantly, I might add several years ago down to the Tampa Bay Florida area! It has been one of the worst mistakes of my entire life!! L O L, leaving my beautiful blue state to move it as radical right wing red nonsense of Florida! I consider moving back all the time and I’m sure that I will when I’ve had my fill of this nonsense down here someday! Lol San Diego is my favorite place to live in this entire country!

      Yeah because in California there is 0 nonsense. Cities like San Francisco, LA and even San Diego now are flourishing and doing better than ever hahaha. No increase in crime, no homelessness, no inflated gas, groceries, real estate prices, no gender ideology, it's just heaven on earth. Go back to your blue liberal state to enjoy the fruits of your labor.

    what about when covid hit and the renters didn't have to pay the rent but the landlords still had to pay the mortgage

    • @livinginsandiegocal

      I’m not sure what your question is

    • @star_platinum2821
      @star_platinum2821 Рік тому +1

      its not a question, it is a response to you saying you wish you had bought real estate back then, dont you remember when the govt said tenants did not have to pay rent for a certain amount of time but the landlords had to still pay the mortgages,you would have been paying the mortgage and your tenant would not have payed you

      @livinginsandiegocal  Рік тому +2

      @@star_platinum2821 for my personal story, I would have been the person living in my own house. In regards to what you’re talking about, that was an extremely short time, then landlords could evict those tenants if needed at the end of their lease. Not really an issue and landlords who have owned their properties for years are making serious $ every month!

    Hello. Sorry to bother you. My name is Oksana. I'm from Ukraine. For Ukrainians, the American government created the U4U refugee assistance program. I want to ask you for help for my family. So that I and my family of 4 people and 2 cats could get to the USA. You need to fill out a questionnaire in the U4U program and help adapt in the country. Maybe if you can't, your friends can. Sorry to bother you once again. Good day.
