In my opinion, Adding more thrusters in a straight line quickly hits the wall of diminishing returns.
Instead, try mounting and stacking them in a cylinder and surrounding the collective ends in one large cone nozzle. This is how rockets are designed, with many burners in a ring inside of the larger cone that funnels the final air mixture in around them all.
If you place them closer together in a ring and encapsulate them with a blast cone it should direct the collective force more efficiently.

    A couple suggestions:
1.) You need a full face mask for air but one that is streamlined. You are probably losing about 20% of your thrust just to the drag from the mask and the bottle.
2.)Consider maybe a few slim air tanks inside a casing? The casing will alleviate some of the drag caused by the bottle in your mouth.
I think with those two things you might be able to gain as much as 30% higher speeds.
Have you tried them in depth? Try it at about 20Ft. No waves or interference from seaweed

Loved the video! Im not an engineer (Though I'm in school for it). I think this thing would be easier to control if instead of spreading them out across a single wide plane across your back, you had them in a two- high stack. Itd help the center of thrust stay more consistent. A more precise thrust vector could also help with speed, and itd be less unweildy too.
Maybe youll never touch this thing again, but in case you do, that might help!

Spacing them out is the best idea. Wingspan being wider means more water to push off from. Means more speed. Causing a bigger wake in the water. Creating a massive bubble to push off from. From behind you.also distributing the wait down to your feet as a stabilizer. Would help from the engines rising up to the back of your head. Needing a whole suit to keep in tightly in place.

If i had known.... Your speed is going to be related to the voltage being fed to the motors.... (Not engines) but uh... Yah adding more engines when you have the same voltage and enough amperage to feed them all WILL make you able to defeat more of the water friction. The problem is that the motors are only revolving so quickly, and eventually your problem will be motor speed, not horsepower or overcoming friction from the water. Basically at some point you WILL need to boost the voltage to go faster, or change the pitch of the fans...but that will also only take you so far.

Streamline it closer to your body, they don't have to be flat on your back like that. You could set it up, so you can independently operate a left set and a right set to allow you to maneuver with just the jets alone. Id suggest a triangle shape stack. On your back; rough triangle spread out as flat on your back as you can without impeding your movement…
A tight ⛛ on each side. Add a vertical stabilizer on the center jet on your back, approx. 3" tall. On your side center jet add horizontals at 1 inch or less.
As for extending its distance. Figure out how to waterproof the charging port and a backup powerbank. 3D print a housing, perhaps.

You should tie all those lose wires together into your metal frame, and then have just one power trigger to run all your motors. That will minimize your drag in the water.

Try doing some reprogramming in some rewiring To allow the motors to use higher voltage Then what they would normally use

I would've removed the plastic covering the button toggle, then you can run a bar that goes across the buttons so they all get pressed at the same time. It would be easier to control the buttons that way. If you knew an engineer, they could even make a board that has a bluetooth to a chip that you can place on the board and synch all the engines to one controller, there are many ways to go about doing it, but the fact you're not an engineer and still made a sturdy build is very impressive. Great work brother

You still need to work on your streamline in the water. The way your head and arms are positioned, olus the jet packs in a big square on the side...this is why youre getting diminished returns. Doubling the engines but not the speed.
Tuck your head down, arms straight in front and squeezed by your head, create a good streamline. Make the packs more in a V formation with the point forward of course. A good streamline is a huge difference when you move through water.

The last thing we need is this man double the amount of engines and build an exoskeleton suit to carry it

Get all the thrusters closer together, maybe in a triangular shape.
Tie off all cables together and route them nicely. My best bet is over the shoulders and inline with your arms.
You need a pony bottle, though I would strap it near your centre of gravity like in-between your legs or in a ventral position (on your stomach)
Lastly you need fins. Not only on your feet but some other system. You could put your hands down tight to your body a slightly flap them to increase drag on that respective side
