I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.
Just a suggestions. The Kohler Courage engine is a very unreliable engine, It's known in the community as the bucket engine. Valve rockers come loose, I've seen the crankcase cover bolts come loose and the flywheel takes it out and cracks the block, weak coils, flywheel key shearing (usually due to valves sticking or misfiring engine) and overheating due to lack of cover removal and cleaning. Either Loctite all the bolts on the top or at least tighten them snug.
Well I agree with you. I did not buy it to keep I bought it to flip and sell. Small ones like this only sell for about $600 and can turn money pit fast. So fastest thing is all ways just to swap same engine for same engine.
@@redneckcomputergeek Yeah im 19 and have been flipping equipment for a few years know and whenever a customer brings a Courage engine into the shop it could go either way. They are nowhere near as good as the older command engines.
I'm wondering why no one has mentioned that it was trying to roll backwards when he was attempting to start it. You said the parking brake was down, not sure about those but most if them you hsve to pull up to engage brake or mine was atleast which could be another reason its not starting. Enough ranti need to finish the video because im curious on what you find out.
I was just wondering if you could help me with a problem do you have a 8 to 12"wheel 🛞 that goes on the front of the deck on a 48" craftsman riding mower if so how much is it or do you know of anyone that does please let me know
It could be a good thing that John is addicted to the zero turn mower he will want to go out and mow the yard. I can say I like mine the only thing with mine I have a Kawasaki engine and they are a great engine. I can say the engine you have is much better than the florin or the Briggs and scrap iron
It looks like maybe you didnt adjust that valve at top dead center and thats why the push rod bent. I bet the valve seat just spit and needs to be reseated and valves readjusted

"alright go ahead try" boy just goes out and starts mowing the lawn after a small drive hahaha priceless! That's a good kid you have there
Great advice for rebuilding and buying used equipment
Thank You
I bought a cub cadet rzt 50 for 200 bucks. brought it home. figured out it was the reverse safety switch. sold it for 1100 lol
Valve seat or guide problem, totally repairable.
gotta say john did awsome driving that thing👍 he did better then my first time driving a zero turn✌
Try using two hammers one for a shock obsorbor and the other one to pop the flywheel off
he looks good mowing.. just getting er done
WOW , I Couldn't Be That Lucky, What a Bargain. i would Have Gotten That Motor Going, With a Little Bit Of Mucking Around, I Reckon it Would Have Went
I would pull heads right from the start and fixed it up to last for years
He just wanted to swap engine i don’t know if he is that good or playing around for the video.
You can see spark grounding out on side of motor at 9:33 😅
Due to the mouse nest, I would have guessed that engine overheated and valve seat came loose. Rocker arm off would have farther increased my suspicion
The hydros have manual releases to pull so you can freewheel
I have a Gravely ZT2044XL, which is a rebadged Ariens with all the features
I know what a complete mower deck work looks like.

@@tuggyboat Do you have a engine for a snapper zero turn 48" cut
Yep sump gasket replace every year
so you don't pressure test the cylinder?
Why didn't you clean the trash out before opening the sparkplug????
Those are golf cart tires
Mt man here u have any 24 12 12 tires

Wanna see that 3 wheel blue bike get built lol

How many inches wide is that zero turn
Head gasket only last three years now due to heat of new style engines
Over load engines will cause used head gasket to blow
Definitely wouldn't trust a Kohler courage to be ok from the looks, plus a light-duty zero turn with offroad tires means excessive wear on the hydros.
I need one I’m 13 looking for one for my mowing jobs I want to be a lawn mower for money
I will take it
An engine swap would at this point be my LAST consideration.
you could have at least cleaned around tthe sparkplug before pulling it,im glad youll never work on any of my equipment
Bad flywheel key
What?
Yeah you should blow it off before doing anything
no offense but that has to be one of the ugliest looking zero turn mowers ive ever seen
