keep hearing clowns saying a car is "gutless" or "not the fastest" unless it has a fucking 500 horsepower engine or something. really getting sick of it.
I have an 89 convertible with a 6 speed. Absolutely love it
89 was a great Vette year. Sadly ,most of the Corvettes in the $5000 price range are mostly 1984 models. They ride stiffer than a wedding dick.
got my 89 for 5,100 :D
This is a great reliable stock cruiser. Its fast enough, looks great, and gets 24 MPG to boot.
Beautiful and it makes sound of freedom with his american V8
Just got a 86 C4 and took it out on the mountains with my girl. It was a fucking dream. I am in love with the car and can't believe I own a vette. Handles awesome and cruises so nice, sounds so mean too. Not the fastest, but has plenty of get-up.
How much did you pay for yours? I'm thinking of picking up a C4
Congrats on the Vette
they go for like 5k
***** i love u that's prob going to be my first car now -Budget of 5k(wanted sports car)
Good luck to you...Cool car!
shut up people this car blows any ferrari lambo, and alfa away in its comfort. drivability, and overall reliability. soo cozy and nice.
I own a 03 Z06 and would still love to have a nice C4. They were great cars for their time. That maybe be the next car I'll get.
I rode in one once when the district manager came by. So low and sexy. But times have changed. Today's Lambo's and Ferrari's look great, I would rather have one of those but of course the Vette aways could compete on price. The 86' turned heads in Italy I read when the convertibles came out that year.
Dang right it does..
The convertible looks so much more sporty than the Targa tops. I have a 1989 w/ the 6 speed, so much fun to drive.
Damn I love C4's. I had an 87 and an 89. The 89 was a beast. I had the Z51 package and high flow exhaust with muffler deletes. It was a complete blast during autocross. 89 will always be my all time favorite Corvette. It was the last year during the C4 run with both the old body style and old interior. Around 340 torque, 6 speed, 3 way adjustable shocks, big brake package, larger radiator, and quick steer ratio, 5 link rear end, double wishbone suspension upfront, seats that actually held you in and a wonderful driving position (if ur not too big of a guy). It was a total drivers car. I regret selling it :(
I agree, I love my 89 Corvette 6-speed. It sits in my garage most of the time only drive it on sunny dry days. I bought it from an older man who maintained well it's whole life.. Still looks new and performs great, what a great design Chevrolet made..
I'm looking for one but I want to road trip it. I'm debating about the targa or convertible any recommendations
@@danm936 Without a doubt convertible with the 6-speed you won't go wrong..
.....a 1987 c4 z51 at spa franchorchamp wil beat the hell out of anny 80's Ferrari ...even if it has a 12 cyl....
We have a 1989 Corvette convertible with only 16,000 original miles never even been in the rain kept it in the garage it’s entire life No signs of any where in tear anywhere
Post it!
Power to weight ratio! Car like this feel fast cause they only weigh 3200 lbs dont need 400 to move out with the chargers, challengers even cameros, mustangs nowa days pushing or ever passing a 4000 lb curb weight they need 400 hp there Lead Sleds.
Nice car. I had an 85 auto with a full exhaust and long tube headers. It wasn’t the fastest car on the highway but it sure had some balls on the street. Unfortunately I couldn’t deal with the brittle suspension, it squeaked and rattled like a mofo. I have a c5 now which is so much faster and comfortable but lacks the old hot rod feel of the c4.
They are in abundance, but they will increase in value sooner or later, the ZR1s are 20k-30k, I'm going to be finding a C4 soon, also be prepared to have to tinker with it
This video sucks. I'm sorry but to me it is common sense to have a camera positioned so you can see the road as you would if you were riding as a passenger. Why the hell does anyone want to look at the driver the whole time. You would think this guy would have the common sense to video the road. Unbelievable.
KirkSH52 Also I would have liked to see the the engine, he talked about it like it was new.
Beautiful car I have an 85. It's just too bad GM decided to put a motor more geared for trucks into it. They could have at least given us a measly 300 HP. It can't breather and has a cam profile similar to a broom stick. So sad.
Considering the engine was actually developed in 1984 (for the 85 vette) it holds its own very well... only real contender during it time was its stable mate, the Buick GN.... maybe a modded 5.0. But even then Ford's 5.0 put out 50ftlbs less. Only the block architecture is shared with the truck engines (same as GM does today).... the intake is unique L98. The L98 responds fairly well to light mods... and John Lingenfelter and Revees Callaway loved it. Just wish GM had gone with an aluminum block back then.... this would have put the C4 Vettes around 3100lbs! Good engine... and pretty much lead it's class during the time. I do agree though that the intake was really restricted with a very low cam profile. Redline was sickening though. But hey... pretty much ever V8 around that time was though. The LT1 and LS1 really changed the power game.
Great reply
It was just the times, cars didn't have a ton of power. These Tuned Port Injection Corvettes still did 14 second quarter mile times.
port the tpi intake = 50hp gain
Fungus the government wouldn't let GM put that horsepower in them. There was no car that was hitting that in the 80's. Except maybe an exotic that cost 5 times as much.
Get your hand off that damn shifter!
Magnificent All American sportscar, ReaganEra America Icon, investment grade.
240hp? Wow. But the looks.
hey, I just picked up one as a project car any one have links
Autumn & Corvette C4 pre-facelift = one of the most beautiful cruise experiences!
Is this race car? How much this car vet?
80000 miles or 160,000 kilometers this thing Definitely Worn out on all fronts. Also a Confirmed money pit with this Very high mileage.
And to think you can now buy a very clean C4 for 7 grand. You don't get that value with any other sports car right now.
Jordon had a zr-1
What a beauty. I wonder what it's like and where it is now, almost another decade later...
Just got a 90 Corvette convertible. Great car for a very good price.
so a stock C4 in base trim can hang with a 328 and even the testarossas, there you have it guys.
Just awesome. A real tribute to pride in ownership.
Even more crazy, is that a 1986 z51 corvette pulls near 1.0 G on the skid pad.
i love this car ! but i know i can't have one =(
+GrooveKing I think he means insurance. I'm 18 and can afford to buy one of these any days of the week, but I'm already taking insurance up the butt so I can't afford that right now.
Sure you can if you really want one. You may already have one by the time you read this.
@@wyattalvarez4880 Maybe you can put it on a older family members policy, many younger people do that.
cold air Intake, throttle body, exhaust, headers, and possible intake manifold
