I was so bless to get to watch him on tv when ABA and NBA merged back in 76..before that we never get any ABA games on our tv..But when the merger happened, MAN, it was like Moses parted the red sea and Doc came walking thru it..As a teen at the time who love and played organized basketball in a school league,, I became an instant fan of his at the very first game I saw him played..I was so sad when the trailblazers beat Doc and the sixers in the finals...But from that time onward I pretty much catch all of his games, all the way until he retired, which was a sad day for me, because it was like my childhood days have came to an end too...But he inspired me more than any sport athletes since..Not even Magic, Bird, or Jordan inspired me the way Dr J did..There's something unique, something special about him..He was so graceful with the basketball, but dominate as heck... If you watch every single game he had ever played, and I mean EVERY SINGLE ONE..you'll find yourself totally engulf in his play, his presence...You'd be looking around of ' where is he on the court, I can't wait to see him operate '..and I mean on every play whether it's offense or defense...He truly commands your attention ...He's my all time favorite player since then and still is today..The greatest to ever set foot on a basketball court...What an inspiration he was !!
Thank god for,the chairman of the boards and Andrew Toney…..Doc just flashy…..so if you like flash Doc is your man….Doc, human highlight reel, Kemp…will have iconic reels…
Doc is 35 years old dunking ball over Eaton. He had extremely high hops even at an advanced age. Dominique, Jordan, Vince never jumped like that at age 35. That baseline power dunk off his 2 feet is insane. An absolute facial! A posterized power dunk. That's a HOUSE CALL. Patient in trouble.
Side note: I was at UCLA when Eaton was there after transferring from two years of JC. He could hardly walk straight. Opposing fans used to stand up and imitate Frankenstein walks when he came on. His maturation into an NBA-quality player I attribute directly to his mentoring by John Wooden. Otherwise he'd just have been another tall goof.
@ :37 The guys at the end of the Jazz bench lmao, and the dude to the far right wearing the white sweater above Sixers number eight second row, that dude dropped his head like he had dropped his wallet.
0:34 for a '7 foot 4? who gives a fuck' dunk...good lord...Erving dunked on Kareem once twice in the space of a minute in The Finals...decepetively fast because he was so fluid...created an optical illusion
FINALLY! Footage of the 1st Jazz season in Utah! The first few clips anyway. The rest are the '80-'81 and '81-'82 season. Please show more '79-'80 clips KSL. I know you have them. You broadcast the games. They were lousy but still, it's an unknown Utah history chapter that sports fans would like to know about. Do a special on "Why & How the Jazz ended up in Utah". Serious Jazz fans know the story but visuals to go with it would be awesome and to casual fans it'd be very interesting. Surprised you haven't already created a special for Sports Beat Sunday already.
But they tell u kobe(overrated) greater...smh dbth!!..nba demanded with aba in merger that players aba stats can't count..but we know that's bs..71-76 aba vs nba exhibition games aba won more..doc true numbers 30,000pts 24ppg 8rpg 4apg 50%fg 3rings 3mvps!!
all time blocks per game leader and multiple dpoy!better shot blocker than mutombo. Go watch his highlights..check how fast people just throw the ball to the rim in his presence!its almost comical..you tube has a lot of footage!
🏆If Dr.J. would have went straight to the NBA he would be the Greatest Basketball player of All Time Real Talk🏆Facts🍷🍷

Amen! Well said! All the while he was changing the game - revealing a new style! He played good defense - which often led directly to his offense.
Thank god for,the chairman of the boards and Andrew Toney…..Doc just flashy…..so if you like flash Doc is your man….Doc, human highlight reel, Kemp…will have iconic reels…
Any youngsters out there should know that Dr. J's dunk at 0:36 is over 7 foot 4 inch Mark Eaton, the NBA's all-time leader in blocks per game.
bwidow6 Hakeem the Dream is number one!
The dunk against Mark Eaton is really a Monster Dunk.
My favorite player of all time
Mines too

Excellent comment....he was an unguardable freak of nature....That dunk over 7'4" mark Eaton is jaw-dropping!!
Doc didn’t fall for all that weight lifting crap either.
Literally, the three of them continue to display dunks as in their youth, just more selectively, Plenty of evidence in UA-cam. But nice try.
Doc could dunk but Adrian Dantley was the man
@@segura9 Not like Doc homie.
This is when Doc was older. I enjoyed watching Doc and Bird play, like no one else.
#44 Rich Kelley of Utah, 7'0", #50 Steve Hayes 7'0" and #53 Mark Eaton, 7'4", and #32 Karl Malone, 6'9",just got posterized by Julius.
Still one of the G.O.A.T. His years with the Nets will never be forgotten !
Wilt, along with Julius, are the 2 greatest all around players in basketball history!!
@@MrGoldenthroatthankyou🇨🇦🇺🇸😄
No one then or today was as graceful in the air as Erving was.
By far and away the best athlete the sport has ever seen......And even by even more the best dunker!!
Laff.
Simply Beautiful !!!
Amazing! He's at least 33 and probably 34 in these highlights!!
He been Dunkin' over 7 footer!s! 35yrs old!!! Wow!

Thanks for posting this. The dunk at 0:36 is vicious.
The very first to have done it...Dr J. He was a bad man!
63 still dunking
The best ever, a superclass!
@ :37 The guys at the end of the Jazz bench lmao, and the dude to the far right wearing the white sweater above Sixers number eight second row, that dude dropped his head like he had dropped his wallet.

how many posters has Mark Eaton been featured on?!
w/those big hands and quick feet he was virtually unguardable, had they included hz ABA stats those numbers would be serious
He was very guardable….
DR.J🔥🇨🇦🇺🇸😆
dr j highlights against jazz the best player 1981 jazz was dantley that year
It's a shame he didn't have better teammates.
Everybody dunked on Mark Eaton (RIP).
0:37, offensive foul.

What he did at :40 was disgusting....!!!

0:24 dunks and just tries to get out of the way.... doesn't start strutting around like a pigeon with his arms flared out.....
Nasty just plain Nasty!!!!!!
