Thank you for the recipe. I had this at church and did not even know what it was and everyone was surprised so now I am hunting for the recipe for my get together on Sunday. Thank you for sharing it.
My wife and I plan to retire in St. George Utah from Canada in about 20 years. I better make these so we fit in with the locals lol. Keep the videos coming! You are doing great 👍
Former Utah'n here. Can definitely vouch for the prolific existence of funeral potatoes. We'll often make them for potlucks here in Denver and people are always fascinated by their name!
Is it ever NOT snowy and cold in UT? 🤣🤣 My wife is a Michigan native and she knows them as funeral potatoes as well. They are my favorite with ham also. 😍 Loving all your videos!!! Thanks and keep'em coming!!
I make these a lot! Never tried on the smoker. Will have to try this. What I do for the topping, is mix a little garlic in the melted butter and use panco instead of corn flakes. I also sometimes add a few strips of crumbled bacon into the potato mix, to add some extra love. Just some thoughts. I love this recipe. Thanks for sharing.
There are places up here in Canada that call them funeral potatoes too! Not where I live, we’re normal here, but there are some! 😆 We actually have these for breakfast often (will for sure have it on Christmas Day) except we use the regular small cubes frozen hash Browns instead of shredded.... my favorite!

Funeral Potatoes, Yep, that's a thing! These looked pretty hearty and awesome, perfect for funerals and cold nights!
It's definitely in the comfort food category! Thanks for watching my friend!
Yup funeral potatoes. You do such a fantastic job. So proud of you ❤️

Looks really good for a side dish, awesome job Mazie! 👍👍😉

Haha I love that!!
In Nebraska we just call them cheesy taters, but same exact recipe. Incredible side dish! Well done!
Great recipe! Just tried on my new Pit Boss yesterday! Turned out perfect. Thank you for sharing ! 🎉
Awesome! Thanks for giving them a try!
I'm from Utah and you are 100% correct. I've had some good ones and some bad ones too. Lots of green onions are the key.
Those look really good. We call them funeral potatoes or Morman potatoes up here in southern Idaho too.
Never heard of funeral potatoes, but they look mighty tasty 👍🏻. Definitely will have to give these a try!
They make an awesome side dish! Thanks for checking it out!
I’m not from Utah, (Kansas), but these are what we call them too!

Oh that sounds so delicious! I will have to try doing a different topping!!
Note to self: never visit Utah, they are crazy over there. 😂 jk That looks amazing, what pellets are you running?
Hahah I'm beginning to realize how weird we really are! Competition blend, my go-to. Thanks for watching my friend!
We are crazy but we are fun.
We cannot wait to try this 🤤🤤🤤
It's such a yummy dish! Thanks for watching!

I'll have to try the cubed hash browns, I've never thought of that!
Here in Kansas, everyone calls them party potatoes. But we don't consider a funeral a party.
I hadn't heard that name for them until just recently, I like that name better haha.
I grew up in Sugar House in Salt Lake City and we always called them Mormon Taters...
Haha that sounds about right!
I use sour cream and onion chip dip instead of plain sour cream and some bacon
I'm in Cottonwood Hieghts Utah
Another Utahn!

Substitute a can of cheddar cheese soup for a can of mushroom, and you can even add a few crushed french fried onions on top to change it up slightly.
Oh that sounds so yummy!!
Disappointment @ 1:15, but I'm dying to try this recipe.
