People who are complaining about the driving of this guy have no clue what it takes to drive a tiller style hook and ladder fire truck and if people cannot compliment this guy don't comment because it is not easy to drive one of these fire trucks and I may only be 21 but I have been a volunteer fireman since I was 16 and they let me sit in the position this guys in and it is no easy task
I'm not a firefighter but can tell this guy is a pro. This video seems like one that would be used in a "what not to do" power point briefing in today's ever softening society though. Excellent ... driving? tilling? skills brother. You have my respect and appreciation.
wow! great ride, great camera position, great view from the tillerman's seat....this is just a really cool video all-around. thanks for shooting it and sharing it with everybody!
Right - he needs to drop the attitude, but then again, he is right. It is dangerous to run red lights at those speeds. However, the driver is not the only one to blame. The guy writing the SOP's has a finger in it, so does the chief, driver's captain, people in traffic and a lot of other people. This driver might be going fast, but so does most of his fellow firefighters in the world (not just the US)
I do not know how he can drive that tiller. What an awesome driver. If it were me I would be driving on top of other cars. My respect to all tillers drivers. God bless our firefighters.
You and your driver have some fucking AMAZING urban driving skills, especially for that speed. Honestly that's really impressive... and great work with the Q.
That was one heck of a piece of driving, Good grief man, I've been in a couple fire trucks in my life but never one with that view. Good piece of film work.
@sfdff39 , of course it is hard to tell from the camera/tiller spot. i just hope that the driver did back off the throttle a little bit and covered the brake when he appears to power through the opposing lane and intersection. having been up in the tiller, i prefer my drivers get us there safely so we can do what we have to do.
That was a beautiful ride.Yes,it does feel like we the viewers are actually there.Nice swinging around the construction barriers. And the "Q" and the view does remind me of Newark,Delaware's Ladder 9. God bless Seagrave! Is this a Seagrave? 5 star rating for the video length.
Great tiller cam. Looks like the tiller has power steering. Pretty bumpy back there. I think the rig was driving much to fast. Especially since there was no fire, after all.
@USMC3531tsd I don't think that's true, when the tone stays high it becomes an extremely obnoxious tone and in fact will cause more annoyance than the fluctuating tone. To be honest it seems traffic clears faster when people gun the Q... even though it doesn't sound great... but that's kinda of the point.
Think of it as counter clockwise driving when the driver in the front goes left the guy in the back goes right believe it or not this is easy to to ger down tight streets and packed roads due to having both drivers on it the other thing is the guy in the back does not have control over speed or brakes just turning
@4624tone ive done both. ( big trucks and emergency equipment. and this crew impressed the hell out of me. handled that truck like a small high performance car Eh?
Buffalo lost,I believe their last tiller on 27 December 1983 when it was blown 35 feet across the street during the N,Division St Propane Explosion, killing all 5 firefighters on board.
@keith672005b I second your motoon.. Did you hear the wheels screetch as he went from left sode to roght, or was that just me?? Also, im all about wrong sode of traffic at a known screwed up intersection, but full blast??? Come on man!!!!
Nice video man, one Cert I wanna get one of these days, Tiller operator. Just a question though, you East coast guys, are you taught to wind the grinder siren tight and hold it there? this is probably the 5th or 6th video I have seen with the damn thing sounding like a raped banshee. I know we were taught that the changes in pitch of the thing is what gets peoples attention, and the constant "WEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" actually can cause people to "not hear it."
Watching this video I see no reason why this department has a tiller truck. There was no place they went that a regular ladder truck would not be able to go.
@chainsaw5vent That driver can see a lot better than you can from this view. Why slow down if he has a clean shot? If they are responding to my house, i hope they respond just like they do in this video, but i guess if it was your house, you would want them to take it slow on the right side of the road and weezle their way threw all that traffic. The "safe" way
come on man.. use your head, if he is in the back of a really long rig and has his own steering wheel then he is probably steering the rear portion of the rig!

Beautiful drivin skills, props to both, ive been driven big trucks for 22yrs now and I was impressed!
I didn't even know that this was a real thing?! We don't have anything like this in the UK. Good drive I say, dominating the road like a boss!
Amazing work with the 2 Divers!!! Great Job Guys!
I'm not a firefighter but can tell this guy is a pro. This video seems like one that would be used in a "what not to do" power point briefing in today's ever softening society though. Excellent ... driving? tilling? skills brother. You have my respect and appreciation.

NOW THAT IS ONE F'N AMAZING RIDE!!!
The part at 3:00 was just beyond belief! Beautiful work!
Right - he needs to drop the attitude, but then again, he is right. It is dangerous to run red lights at those speeds. However, the driver is not the only one to blame. WOW! He went right between those cars like a pro!! :D
CSX2057 that's normal
Driven a tiller one time. I have no desire to do it again. Hats off to those that do. I will stick with being a BC or riding the seat!
That’s some of the best driving I have ever seen!
I also rescued riley McMurray with that very loud fire truck when she was stuck in danger with structure fire
All the people talking negative about this video must not be in the fire department
That was some great driving around traffic and through the construction zone!
That was one heck of a piece of driving, Good grief man, I've been in a couple fire trucks in my life but never one with that view. Good piece of film work.
Awesome job tillering through that traffic and construction zone. Not too often do we get to see a response video from the tillerman's perspective.
Excellent skills
WOW not often you get to see the ''tiller pov'' awesome!!
tillerman is doin a wonderful job as is hte driver. well all of you did/do a wonderful job
Best tiller video ever
AWESOME, that's right, awesome driving!!!
Looks so much fun!!!
Great Job Driving Sir!
you guys are insane!!! great driving and i really wish a had that truck by me lol
Good work tillerman.
Fantastic steering.

well if it aint broke no need to fix it, it may be 25 years old but its till rocketing lol.
always wanted to try being a tillerman
Great tiller cam. Looks like the tiller has power steering. Pretty bumpy back there. I think the rig was driving much to fast. Especially since there was no fire, after all.
Driving like a boss
Now if you can drive and drink hot coffee at the same time, that would be something.. lol
New respect for tiller drivers
Very well done
This is Bedfords old tiller.
Woah man you're going to set that Q on fire!
thx a lot sir take care
@USMC3531tsd I don't think that's true, when the tone stays high it becomes an extremely obnoxious tone and in fact will cause more annoyance than the fluctuating tone. To be honest it seems traffic clears faster when people gun the Q... even though it doesn't sound great... but that's kinda of the point.
This, looks like fun.
This was great to watch, I never saw a video from the tiller box like this before. What FD is this?
HAZMAT FireGuy Cornelius fire dept, Cornelius, NC
Nice teamwork
That proubley was a pain in the butt to drive through the construction
4:04, those are our tones and I about took off running.
Think of it as counter clockwise driving when the driver in the front goes left the guy in the back goes right believe it or not this is easy to to ger down tight streets and packed roads due to having both drivers on it the other thing is the guy in the back does not have control over speed or brakes just turning
nice driving
whoever is the diver of this truck needs a handshake. I wish all our drivers drove like this.
O and officer, about that Q siren......
when that tone went off i thought it was my pager lol
:) now it's 2014. your truck is a 1989, 25 years old
wooow cool :-) god bless your uncle on every run ! :-) take care dude
So the guy in the back turns the wheel the opposite way
@ 2.10 your front end driver didn't slow down when he went on the other side of the median into opposing traffic??! creepy....
@USMC3531tsd True that, Horn gets more attention than any other.
That's great maneuvering through traffic and every thing. I would bet u guys hit one of those barrels.
Do you have any communication with the driver of the rig?
@4624tone ive done both. ( big trucks and emergency equipment. and this crew impressed the hell out of me. handled that truck like a small high performance car Eh?
Holy shit that job looks fun XD
what type is this truck ?
What does the guy pov do? or what does the guy in the back do? just wondering and im interested
@eng4inea
yes, there is....it's called experience
best damn q siren I have ever heard!!!
Buffalo lost,I believe their last tiller on 27 December 1983 when it was blown 35 feet across the street during the N,Division St Propane Explosion, killing all 5 firefighters on board.
now that's some driving...
Nice
@keith672005b I second your motoon.. Did you hear the wheels screetch as he went from left sode to roght, or was that just me?? Also, im all about wrong sode of traffic at a known screwed up intersection, but full blast??? Come on man!!!!
Where is this Department from ?
look hard to drive Tiller
This dept is staffed with part time paid staff... so this is most likely not a volunteer
thx
OK, thanks.
Nice video man, one Cert I wanna get one of these days, Tiller operator.
Just a question though, you East coast guys, are you taught to wind the grinder siren tight and hold it there? this is probably the 5th or 6th video I have seen with the damn thing sounding like a raped banshee. I know we were taught that the changes in pitch of the thing is what gets peoples attention, and the constant "WEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" actually can cause people to "not hear it."
are you even in the firedept?
hell of job son just like riding bull hold tight its gona be rough ride
now thats what i call driving
your flying damn
Watching this video I see no reason why this department has a tiller truck. There was no place they went that a regular ladder truck would not be able to go.
Blake Wilcox. A regular ladder truck IS a tiller truck your dumb ass POS.
that looks hard to do dam hard
Do you know what the word creepy means?
close call at 3:43.
TackerVideos 3:43
TackerVideos and how?
@yamahonkawazuki Yeah man!!
cornelius-lemley?
dgerm47 yes
Well it's now 2014 and your truck is a 1989; 25 years old. WHEN IN THE WORLD ARE YOU GOING TO GET IT REPLACED????
AsianDude6661 ,getting it replaced with a new Seagrave Tiller this year finally
Takes a lot of practice to drive a tiller truck even with the power steering it has.
wow, hard run
Too fast for those roads and conditions and got to let that siren cycle up and down not just cranked all the time.
The "safe" way
@hvyfire27 Damn i phone. Disregard spellin errors please...
thats the shit right there
Isent it heard to drive the back
YesBoh Production WHAT YOU TRY IT THEN
come on man.. use your head, if he is in the back of a really long rig and has his own steering wheel then he is probably steering the rear portion of the rig!
Hauling ass haha
this dude is hauling ass
All that for nothing showing. Reckless driving.
