This week's edition of PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR is a little different from most. First, it has a very different look in that you won't be seeing all the virtual camera moves the define the signature PRODIGY "look." Instead, you'll be seeing the same wide shot that shows four lanes, two pairs of lanes. And the actual in-house overhead scoreboards that the bowlers see in the bowling center will be projected on-screen above each lane. And the action on the lanes will be the actual league championships team stepladder finals to crown league champions in our Roswell Varsity and Junior Varsity leagues.
Ours may be the only youth bowling program in the country that utilizes this unique format, but at the end of each third of the season, we take a snapshot of the league standings before resetting them to 0-0 at the beginning of the next third. At the time of the snapshot, we assign points to each team based on their rankings in the team standings. The higher the team is in the standings, the more points they get.
Then when all three thirds of the season are complete, we tally up the points assigned through this system and seed the teams. The top four teams in each league advances our Team Stepladder to decide the league championships.
In the Junior Varsity, where there are only four teams to begin with, that means that any of the four teams -- yes, even the last place team -- can emerge on the final day, run the stepladder, and win the league championship. And in the Varsity, where there are ten teams, only the top four teams qualify for the stepladder.
What you will witness on today's episode of PRODIGY is that team stepladder. In the first game, the 4th seeded team bowls against the 3rd seeded team. The winner of that first game advances to face the 2nd seeded team. And the winner of that game bowls for the league championship against the 1st seeded team.
This method of deciding the league championship adds drama and excitement to the final day of league competition, and makes for quite a spectacle for parents and friends to come watch.
So sit back and enjoy our 2019 League Championship stepladder finals in the Roswell Varsity and Roswell Junior Varsity leagues.
