- Our nation's very first "second gentleman," husband of the first female U.S. vice president, Doug Emhoff gave up a lucrative career as a lawyer to support his wife, Kamala Harris; and as the first Jewish person in his position, he has taken a leading role in the administration's fight against antisemitism and hate crimes. He talks with correspondent Rita Braver about being a vice presidential spouse, and about how Kamala Harris is "the toughest person out there."

That is what support of each other looks like. This teaches young men a lot in a society in which a lot of men feel they have to have power and control over women. Such a beautiful thing! Power is gained when each is allowed to live their life's purpose.

Doug is an intelligent, genuine, humble, nice guy. I can feel their love. He'll be a perfect first Gentleman.
I’m not very eager to get married, but if I found a guy like this one, I wouldn’t hesitate.
I admire Second Gentleman Emhoff and his relationship with Kamala. Years ago, people would have laughed or frowned upon the idea of a male spouse of a vice president who happened to be a woman.
Finding the love of your life later in life is such a gift. In your 40s you know who you are, what you want, and what you can give... and you know not to settle. I just love Doug and Kamala's groove. So happy for them! When the kids (and even Doug's ex) have such love and kind words for each other, it speaks volumes. ❤️ I'm happy to see people so happy and warm.
I appreciate his service to our country AND I will say out loud I would be proud to have Kamala Harris as President Harris. Biden picked a good team 4 years ago and should anything happen we have a great successor in place.

The first time I’ve ever seen an interview or minis documentary about him. I never knew he was such a classy man and a good husband. I had negative assumptions that he was a white opportunistic man snatching a successful black woman. I couldn’t have been more wrong. This is pure love.

My church had started trying to return to original Christianity by doing tzi tzi and teaching early church cannon along with the Jewish yearly reading schedule....😢I miss it a lot but they moved really far away and I'd be breaking the Sabbath traveling over 20 miles to their services.😢 they started out as a Church of God too... Or Assemblies of God and they didn't cast them out when they started teaching that way. It's not exactly Hebrew Roots but it's similar.... Speaking as a foreigner, Doug Emhoff would be represent his "President", and, by default, his country as "First Gentleman" rather well.
Doug Emhoff is handsome, has a pleasant demeanor, casual manner and is a successful lawyer.
The possible future occupants of the White House would be quite unique in American History: a female, black President with a Jewish, white divorcee as a husband with his Ex-wife part of their combined, extended families.
This "First Family" would make The Brady Bunch look like a traditional Amish family (a mere contrast, no offence meant to all concerned).

No one should be called the second gentleman or the second lady. That’s just bad manners. It would be more polite to simply refer to him by his name and mention he’s the spouse of the Vice President.

It has been out their since she began running for office. She and her family are okay with it being out their. Shows what a great Step Mother she is as the children came up with that name for her. It made her more endearing to me as you hear a lot about Step Mother's, some in my own family, who are jealous of the their husbands children and can be awful to their Step children. I appreciate this story as it really shows how important it is for husbands to be supportive of their wives.
