Can't thank you enough to this tip, pal. I've been trying to get this to work for ages. You've helped me to take an old junkpile R710 and turn it into the beginnings of a homelab. Thanks again.
I am so glad I found your channel yesterday - I'm just waiting for delivery of a Mikrotik 10G router / switch and learned a lot about the setup prior to it arriving and also have an R710 which I've just re-purposed and an IBM x3650 which I've modded to also include the SAS expansion board. Spent quite a bit of time catching up yesterday. Thanks for your content :)
Yet another wonderful video! Thanks for helping me access my Virtual Java console for iDRAC on windows 10. My java.security file was in C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_271\lib\security I also had to run notepad as administrator then open the java.security file in order to edit it an save it. I then went and forced windows to always open .jnlp files with Java Web Start. Wham bam! Bob's your uncle! Thanks so much.
I'm grateful to have found this, would've never thought of an outdated algorithm being the trick. In my case, using a Cisco UCS C200 M2, it was '3DES_EDE_CBC'.
Tip: if your eyes are burning from the java console window font scaling problem: Go to java bin directory: Find jp2launcher.exe: Right-click: Properties: Compatibility: Change Settings for all users: Change High DPI Settings: Check the box named "Override high DPI scaling behavior" and select System. Click the Ok's on the way out. You're welcome.
Thank you, thank you, thank you SO much! I'm still running a T610 with IDRAC6 and a 2950 with an IDRAC5. Using the steps here I got the 6 working, time for a little spelunking to get the 5 going again as well.
Nicely done; it would be helpful to have a tl;dr for those of us who are royally annoyed with all the solutions out there... because I am annoyed. But happy now that I can connect.
In Windows you can basically install java version 1.7 x86 for full compatibility, where you dont need to edit anything. Could be installed on Windows 10 with no problem. Also the native mode is possible without installing anything- only Internet Explorer, just edit security settings and youre good to go.
As its been stated by others, thank you very much for the clear step by step informative video. It worked for me !! On Dell R610 with iDRAC6 Ent. 2.92 lvl 5 and Java 8.0_281 windows browser.
in IT World small wins such as this makes the world go round haha, anyway this works in 2020 windows as well. hope that helps and big thank you for posting this video.
So I got this mostly working. I ended up spinning up an instance of PopOS in Hyper-V as I prefer to keep outdated insecure stuff separate from my main PC. The only issued I have is passing key strokes to the server even with the box checked.
In 2022 this is still a problem. I wish someone could develop a self-contained Java emulator that will run these older JRE applications, or at least one specifically made as an IDRAC viewer. I saw someone mention below a similar concept for a Docker image, but I can't seem to find a simple explanation of how to use Docker images. I'm also not sure if Docker works on Windows, which is where I'm usually trying to view my IDRAC. I've worked around this problem by installing an old, insecure version of JRE, but even then my 4k display doesn't properly scale the old IDRAC remote interface.
I have a Dell R510 and about to literally give up. Wonder if I should just spin up a Windows XP VM and install the oldest shit and turn off all security possible.
I am having this same issue with IDRAC7 (R720) and this method does not work. I tried disabling for testing every protocol in that line and it still does not work. Anyone have any idea? EDIT: I solved the problem by reinstalling Java and removing both RC4 and MD5withRSA.

FF 60.9.0esr and Chrome 77.0.3865.90 do nothing when I click on the `Launch Virtual Console` link. Before I updated to 2.92, FF would at least try to connect. Any tips?
First, I think you need iDRAC 6 enterprise, not express, to have the remote console feature. So, if that's not a mistype, that might be your problem. Also, I have found that OpenJDK gives me video problems and crashes vs Oracle JRE, so I might suggest using Oracle JRE if possible.

Thank You so much for this. I had to specify my login and password in javaws xml file and enable some ancient SSL alghoitms, but it is still better than Windows XP in VirtualBox. :) I check this stuff with HP iLO tomorrow.
II am happy to report: the same method works for older iLO. I removed all protocols from the list, except for MD2 and checked "Direct Connectopn" in Network Settings window. It is not the default Java on my system, so I care little about security in this matter. It's all behind a VPN and passed securely directly to the remote network anyway. Having access to console at reboot time makes a difference.
