What an ace group Bob assembled for this date! Perhaps nicest of all is to hear the great Dave Bowman -- I don't recall hearing a later session from him. So sad that he would be gone in a few short years.
Yes, it seems that this was Dave Bowman’s last recording session Sadly he has few solos here and frankly I’m not certain that it is Dave on this session. I don’t hear his characteristic style. Be that as it may, my next post is chock full of Dave Bowman in a lesser known session with Bud Freeman and Don Lamond. Stay tuned. As always, I’m glad you enjoyed this post.
@@daveytough8112 I wish we could have heard more of the piano, for sure, but I did figure that his style had just evolved with the passage of time from his heyday. Unfortunately, his discography was not nearly so extensive as those of the better known names. I wonder who it might be here.
Billy Butterfield's trumpet has a jazz sound, the same jazz sound as Louis.
