  • 90 day rule /180 rule staying in Spain 90-day rule /90 day for expats .refers to the visa-free stay allowed for non-European Union (EU) citizens, Guardamar del segura costa Blanca Spain, citizens of the United Kingdom after Brexit, within the Schengen Area, of which Spain is a part. The Schengen Area is a group of 26 European countries that have abolished passport control at their mutual borders, allowing for the free and unrestricted movement of people within the area. Best Spanish town in Spain -guardamar del segura alicante costa blanca ,tour guardamar In august /Live tour of guardamar del segura / guardamar promenade /guardamar Reina Sofia Park .Alfonso park live tour in the afternoon in august the sleepy Spanish town of Guardamar. Guardamar del Segura is a coastal town located in the Costa Blanca region of Spain, in the province of Alicante. It is known for its long sandy beaches, dunes, and pine forests, as well as its historical landmarks, including a castle. Guardamar del Segura is a town located on the southeastern coast of Spain in the province of Alicante, within the autonomous community of Valencia. It is situated along the Costa Blanca, which is known for its beautiful Mediterranean beaches and pleasant climate.
The key points regarding the 90-day rule for Spain are:
Visa-Free Stay:Non-EU citizens, including UK citizens post-Brexit, are generally allowed to stay in the Schengen Area, including Spain, for up to 90 days within a 180-day period without requiring a visa.
Counting the Days. The 90-day period is calculated as a rolling 180-day period. This means that within any 180-day period, you can spend a maximum of 90 days in the Schengen Area.
Residency Requirement:If you plan to stay in Spain for longer than 90 days or if you wish to work, study, or reside in Spain, you will likely need to apply for a long-term visa or residence permit before your 90-day limit expires.
Brexit Impact:Post-Brexit, the rules for UK citizens changed, and they are no longer EU citizens. This means that the 90-day rule applies to UK citizens visiting Spain and other Schengen countries.
Entry and Exit Dates:It's crucial to keep track of entry and exit dates, as overstaying the 90-day limit could result in fines, deportation, or future travel restrictions.Schengen Area Coordination:The 90-day rule is coordinated among Schengen Area countries. If you spend time in one Schengen country, it affects the remaining days available for the entire Schengen Area.
It's important to note that immigration policies can change, and it's advisable to check for the most up-to-date information from official government sources or consult with relevant authorities, such as the Spanish consulate or embassy, before planning an extended stay in Spain.

Spain can't change the rules for its own benefit, economy & people. That's why UK voted Brexit. Spain needs to stand up to the EU & say, this is how we run our country...

The UK voted Brexit, so now keep your ass at home. No British exceptionalism anywhere, and what the hell is this EX-PAT bullshit, if you go to another country that is not of your birth and settle there, you are an immigrant.

Not a single EU country can change an EU laws by itself, they can request it but it will be always rejected. An EU law applied to all EU countries.
Always remember that UK who left the EU and now must suffer the consequences. Freedom of movement is from both side, you can't demand a longer stay and refusing Polish people/immigrant to stay longer in UK.

@@only1kingofsingthat's just dumb, no you can't return anyone to france, only to their country of origin, nobody stops you doing that.
As for "second home owners" how dumb is that?
You can buy a house here in croatia too, and after 90 days piss off, very simple, who gave you the idea that home ownership should guarantee you a residency?
That rule is there so that third countries retirees wouldn't retire here and leach on our system that is here for our citizens and eu citizens.
Get a work visa and you can stay, or open a company and employ at least 3 locals and you can stay, otherwise no, you have no rights here, simple, soverignity something.

      not true.
any EU country can introduce its own visa program that runs independently of Brussels, or do you think Portugal's Golden Visa Program applies to all EU countries?
All EU citizens are allowed a 6 month stay in the UK. What terrible calamity would befall the EU if Brussels allowed UK citizens the same deal, a 6 month stay in the EU?

Things will never change. The EU will never make exceptions , as it will leave the floodgates open for every nationality outside of the EU to want the same exemption.

Actions have consequences. To vote to leave the EEC, not being aware of the consequences, seems to put it kindly, to have been inadvisable. The application of the 90 day rule was legally correct and was always going to be a fait accompli. As such, my view is we must simply accept it.
However, that is not to say we should forgive the scoundrels (that is what the ballot box is for) led by BJ who misled us at best, or lied to us at worst!
Ps I question the loss of 12% GDP. The Spanish seem to be living a lot better than we are and as a nation they do not appear to need UK money.

Answer is no. There are 2 different issues. If you stay in any country more than 183 days in their financial year you become a tax resident and would have to have a residency visa (if you were eligible for one of their visa categories). The 90/180 day rule is something different and applies to entering the Schengen Zone EU countries as a tourist. If you remain in the Schengen Zone for 90 days ( whether this is one period of 90 days or multiple trips that add up to 90 days out of 180 days) then you aren't allowed to re-enter the Schengen zone EU countries for another 90 days.

There are still a great number of visa's that you can apply for to get around this 90/180 rule. We are currently looking into getting a digital nomads visa's. It basically means if you can prove you can work remotely in spain and prove a income, then you can stay as long as you like.

Maximum period you can have a DN Visa is 2yrs renewed annually though. You have to be a graduate in the field you work in or have extensive experience. You have to provide tax return info ie HMRC, to evidence you are working as a self employed/sole trader and have been earning the equivalent of at least €2,400 pcm prior to applying. You can't earn more than 30% of your income in Spain from Spanish contracts. You have to take out one of the approved health insurance provider plans. If you work for an employer and the work you do can be carried out remotely they need to provide evidence and pay Spanish social security/health cover for you and provide a contract of at least 12 months and again they must be paying you at least the equivalent of €2,400 pcm. It isn't as easy as everyone though it was going to be unfortunately! I know as I have been looking into it!

France introduced this bi-laterally without needing all the other Schengen Zone EU countries to approve it. Ostensibly it was to assist second home owners who ran these as holiday lets so they could use their 6 month visa period however they chose to that helped manage their holiday lets etc. Hopefully other Schengen countries could do this however lets be honest France and Germany are the power countries in the EU! I think a lot of holiday home owners in other EU countries don't want residency which if they stayed more than 183 days in any tax year they would have to do. They just want to be classed as tourists and be able to use up to 183 days in whatever combination they want rather than the arbitrary 90/180 day rule.

@@daraghminogue9214i don't think that's right, as croatia averages about 20 million visits per year, i think spain is somewhere around 45 million, or 40, not sure tbh.
But in relative terms nobody has as much as croatia with only 4 million population.
In the summer months you have consistently 1 million foreigners in thw country, so the population rises by 25% just like that, and everything works normal, no rise in crime etc, spain has only half of the intensity as is much bigger country with huge population and land mass, so it's very relative, germany is not a tourist country, yet recives more tourists than most tourist countries do, or just some cities like london, paris, rome, prague, recive more tourists than most countries do, europe or elsewhere.

Spain as a sovereign country (get it?) can issue its own long term visas it doesn’t have to get a change in EU law.
