I came here to see how to pop the cover off and that’s the only thing you don’t show😂😂😂
Yeah same wtf
Same.
Did you ever find a video that shows it properly?
@@TukTukPirate No, but I had to take a flat head screw driver and pop it off. Unfortunately it scratches the plastic so be careful. If you have a a plastic spudger you should be fine.
@@kiasta1 There are tools on Amazon for 5 bucks that are made for it. It's what I ended up using and it was perfect.
If anyone was wondering, RAM speed doesn’t really matter for gaming once you get faster than 4000mhz…so whatever this video maker is using this machine for will determine the ram speed needs. Though he doesn’t really seem that well versed in hardware…there are better 4TB drives out there..and to utilize the speed capabilities that system is capable of, he would need to purchase a faster SSD…AND he needs to load into the BIOS and activate the XMP profile of that RAM lol…it’s not just about “upgrading” the hardware..more RAM is great, but I seriously doubt it’s running at 4800mhz out of the box.
Also, someone commented on why he chose 4800 instead of whatever the BIOS revision is capable of now…I don’t know if he doesn’t know how to get to the BIOS; or how to update it..but again, he needs to at least activate XMP to get those sticks running at their advertised speed.
And if you do read this bro…completely power down the laptop, boot it back up, and as soon as to see the Asus splash screen; start button mashing either Delete or F2 to get into your BIOS…
Before you do that; you can check and download any bios updates at support.asus.com. Download the BIOS to a thumb drive, leave it in the system when rebooting, then all the way on the right option in the BIOS you’ll see an update tab…select that; then Asus has a proprietary EZ Update in the BIOS, select that and tell it to update from the file on your thumb drive.
As for that file…after you download it/save it, you need to make sure of 1) it’s on the top, not hidden inside of any folders…and 2) you’ll need to make sure it’s named whatever Asus has designated…and then you need to verify it’s saved as a .CAP file. Asus has a file transfer option on the website, right under the updated bios file on the support page, you’ll see the file transfer software to store it as .CAP
Oh, and it’s case sensitive, the file name and directory should all be in caps, especially the .CAP directory
Dude why did you cut off the cover popping off, that's precisely WHY people want to watch this video. Everyone knows how to replace SSDs and Ram
1:51 So first thing first... we disconnect the battery connector located under the tiny middle fan.
No, we don't. Basically, it's the wrong channel to ask if the CPU is soldered to the mobo. 😂
Why hasn't he disconnected the battery first?
why we no need to unplugged our laptop battery if we want to upgrade our ssd??
Crucial says the laptop can take up to 64gb of ram? Please help me out with this, so I can make the right purchase!
laptop can go up to 64gb but Asus officially states only 32GB. You should not have any issues upgrading it to 64GB. GL.
if yo can avoid unplugging battery, its easy.
but asus manual insists remove vram fan and battery,
battery is a bitch to unplug, the tiny metal clip holds it very tight,
supposedly to be pulled off laterally by hand,
but it snapped off , breaking a couple of plastic chips off the battery connector on mb.
luckily nothing fatal.
BIOS was slow to boot up,after a couple of dead minutes BIOs asked for upgrade, after upgrade finished bootup into win.
64g RAM from crucial shows at 5200 mhz, better for me than 32 at 5600
Show how tot pop off the bottom lid
Very helpful video! Much appreciated.
But the way, I can't manage to get any RAM upgrade to work. After I install the upgraded RAM it just gives me a black screen and the keyboard lights up as normal. Any ideas?
How much ram did you install?
I figured out the issue. I had to disable the CPU under voltage setting in the BIOS and then the computer finally recognized the new RAM.
@@GReviewzyou should add a thermal pad on your newly installed SSD highly recommend
where is the chip for mic after changing thermal paste, mic is not working how it was. do you have any idea what cause the problem or If you can let me know where is mic card or chip, I would be appreciated.
Theres not a mic chip nor card💀
very bad looking laptop.
Can I upgrade ram to 64?
are we able to go up to 64 gb of ram on this version i have the same one as you ?
I’m wondering if you can lol
Can anyone tell me if they've successfully installed an M.2 with a heatsink in their asus rog strix 18? I bought a new samsung m.2 4tb ssd with heatsink I have yet to attempt installation.
How did it go? did you replace the original ssd with 4 tb ssd?
HAVE NO WORRIES MY DEAR FRIEND! Just get a thin thermal heat pad and very thin copper heat sink for your M.2 and your problem is finished! The thicker heat sinks for M.2 are only for PC usage!
Is it safe not disconnect the battery 1st?
Yes. Just be careful and make sure it is powered down.
I have a PC with 1x16 GB RAM installed, and I'm planning to add 32 GB in the second slot (it supports up to 64 GB, and I've researched this thoroughly). My question is, will there be any compatibility issues because the existing RAM is Samsung 16 GB and the new one is Crucial 32 GB? Both have the same CL and MHz values, but the capacity is different, so I'm not sure.
Is everything still performing well? I'm about to get this laptop in a week, and I'll be getting these upgrades if they're working well.
Yes the laptop is amazing. I get solid fps on halo infinite on max settings. Around 150fps
Successfully upgraded the RAM and SSD storage for my new laptop. Thanks for the helpful video
Hey if you see my message could you answer me?!!! My question is very important. I will be buying the 2024 this coming Monday. What is the right thickness of heatsink to use on the M.2 of this gaming laptop? Can I use 2mm up to 6mm? Using a 2 to 6mm thickness of heatsink, will it fit once I close the laptop?
can this be upgraded to 64g ram?
Everywhere I look, some people say yes and it works. The manufacturer says no.
Great video!
Can I repurpose my PS5 SSD into this notebook without removing the heatsink?
Nr 1 battery out!!!
You can change batterie🎉
Curious as to why you choose 4800 on the memory? The new bios finally supports 5600. Looking forward to the benchmarks. Thanks!
I did it based on what others had done in other videos. If that is the case I might just upgrade to the 5600 then.
Sadly not a lot of videos about this laptop besides release and initial review hype. Happy to see you put out some info with doing the upgrades.
Cheers!
for my g14 i was told to upgrade with the same 4800mhz that my laptop came with thats why i added 16gb of 4800mhz of memory.
Is this the 4090 model?
Because i have the 4090 and it came with 32g ram
@Sir.Bullet 4080. I just picked one up on sale and can confirm that the new bios will run 32gb at 5600. I dropped in samsung single sided with no problem.
To start with, I recommend disconnecting the battery.
good explenation
Bro is waiting for gta 6 ☠️
maybe haha
adding new ram/ssd will not void the warranty? i got my self the Scar Strix 18 with the 4080 and im looking to put a 990 Pro SSD in it
No it will not void the warranty. They designed the laptop to be able to change those components.
can we install samsung 990 pro did u install ?
Could you tell me what kind of native ssd ?
What do you mean native? You mean brand name of the ssd that comes installed?
@@GReviewz
Yes!
@@GoodBoy-io6fd Mine came with a Western Digital
hey bro it that ok if I upgrade the SSD using this type of model Samsung SSD 990 PRO Heatsink 1TB / 2TB M.2 NVME PCIe Gen 4 M2NVMe ?
how about the maximum capacity for the SSD storage ? is it ok for 4 TB ? or just 2 TB each ?
Did all of this but it’s only reading one stick of ram. The top stick I guess isn’t in properly?
Remove and re-instert again!
Hello can you put 4tb on 1 slot only?
Can you show the speeds too.
samsung 990 pro supported ?
would 64gb ram work fine? or max 32gb? i have the rog strix 2024 18" for the ssd im thinking about getting the samsung pro 2tb
32 GB of RAM takes advantage of the full 5600 speed, anything above steps down to 5200. Not a huge deal, but I wouldn't go above 32 unless you absolutely need it. Also aim for CL40 ram
32GB is the only one advice but if you will go up to 64GB DDR5 the motherboard might not read it. That Samsung 980 or 990 Pro is compatible. I suggest get the Lexar NM790 or Crucia P3 Plus 4TB it is way more cheaper and higher in capacity and also fast!
The maximum of this laptop is 4tb
or 8tb (2x4tb)?
Even 16TB once they release a M.2 that is this big. The operating System Win 11 will read more than 100TB. It is not the hardware limitation but the operating system limitation of up to what capacity it can read. You can put 2 16TBs if you want or 2 20TBs on each M.2 Slot.
Can I install Samsung 990 pro ssd and DDR5 ram 2 x 32gb in laptop 💻
My laptop name : ASUS Notebook ROG Strix G17 (G713PU-HX039W) RTX 4050
❤❤❤❤😊please tell me
bro iam also looking for the same did u upgraded??
@@Gogopawar bro you’re laptop name
@@kuttyvilan7407 asus rog strix g17 G713RC
Bro you can install Samsung 990 pro ssd 😊
Is it the same for rog strix g16 2023?
Yes it should be the same process
Awesome
please answer me guys, i want to add 2TB SSD. if it comes with HEATSINK, will it fit or not?
No, cannot have a heat sink. Not enough room
@@GReviewz thank you very much sir. So other than that, any gen 4 SSD without heatsink, will fit yes? (especially talking about Samsung 970 evoplus)
@riverstyx928 it will fit I installed a Samsung pro no issues
Can you replace the original ssd with 4 tb ssd? The one with heatsink won't fit in the laptop?
correct for both
@@indianajonze Do you have to download a new windows 11 if you replace the original ssd?
@@GhostPhazeGamingyes, or use some sort of clone software
What you see with the connection speed I upgraded also my drive but it doesn't show which gen I'm on. Should be gen 4. But wd dashboard shows unknown and other progs don't show anything to
Run crystal disk bench, if you are getting 4000-8000 you are on gen 4
It was another issue 8nnthe bios. The laptop was setup for raid. And had to reinstall windows to. Get gen4 working with 1 drive
