This is in fact about Jake Gyllenhall. He was photographed by paparazzi wearing her red scarf well after the break up. Jake also still dates 20 year olds. Taylor was 20 when the started dating and he was 29. When they broke up she was 21, he started dating a 20 year old. HIs next few gf were 25 and 22. He is currently dating Jeanne Cadieu. At the time they started dating, he was 37. She was 21. "I'll get older, but your lovers stay my age."

Sorry to tell you, the scarf was not actually red, it was a navy blue scarf with gray and red in it. Since Taylor's album was called Red, she took creative license and chose red, which also has some symbolism in its color.

I think everyone has experience an “All Too Well” relationship. Where the times that were good were SO good that you physically can’t purge them from your memory, and at the same time you wonder how a relationship that has such beautiful moments could leave you SO broken at the end. While the lyrics, especially in this version are incredibly specific, she wrote them in a way that everyone can still find something relatable in the song, and that is what makes her a lyrical legend. To be able to make millions of people resonate so deeply with your own specific circumstances is truly a talent and gift.

She wrote Shake It Off when she was young; going through bullying and public attacks. It was a great song for young people to let them know they can shake it off - denying the bullie’s powers. It was a single on the radio and many older people didn’t get it and thought of it as a shallow song. I’m 73 and now love it for the life lesson it is for not only the young but for any age.

We love that song in our house. We really worried about my son transitioning to middle school with new kids who weren't used to his accommodations and non speaking autism. So we danced to shake it of or went in the trampoline every day over the summer to practice, letting it go and getting into a better mental zone.
First day comes, I am playing it in the car in drop off line. A little girl stops and starts to dance along. She says she like Taylor too & needed to shake a little. She took my son by the hand to walk in with him.
By the end of the first week, we had lots of kids who would walk in in bopping & shaking with him. He was getting friendship bracelets.
Fast forward. He's a junior now. We threw a big Taylor party for his friends - girls and boys this summer for folks who couldn't go to the show. They had lots of fun dancing it up in our backyard.

I like how she repeats “I was there, I was there, I remember it all too well…like, it happened, I’m not dramatizing this, I remember it..and so do you. Almost like unfortunately she remembers it all “too” well which isn’t a great thing when that “too much” of something is quite painful. But she won’t allow what happened to be dismissed. She knows how it went down. He knows how it went down. And writing it down in the form of a song is how she coped with the pain and got it out so to speak. Some of these songs are like a purge or a cleanse that allow her to move forward imo. Great reaction! Lots of Taylor to comb through, her catalog of songs is vast, including many different genres!

This has always been my favorite Taylor song, but when she released the 10-minute version, I fell for it even harder. It's just written so well that she puts you right there with her. By the way, Taylor hasn't been "country/pop" in a very long time. She's done so many different genres now that I am not even sure she can be called any particular one. I would love to see you react to more Taylor, I don't think you'll ever find better songwriting. Although, I think Eminem is a great lyricist as well. I wish they'd do a song together but I doubt that would ever happen. 😂
Some of my other favorite songs of hers are "Long Live", "Dear John", "Would've, Could've, Should've", "Mad Woman", and "Exile" (ft Bon Iver).

Taylor explains her writing process and breaks down her three writing styles during her acceptance speech at the Nashville Songwriters Association's Songwriter-Artist of the Decade award in 2022.
Taylor reveals the three imaginary genres she thinks about when writing lyrics: Quill lyrics 🪶, Fountain Pen Lyrics 🖊️, and Glitter Pen Lyrics ✨. Taylor in my opinion, and I might be biased because I am a hardcore swiftie but she is a phenomenal, one of a kind songwriter ♥️

It's nice to see someone so focused on her lyrics. This song has some of the best lyrics she's ever written. Also, I'm pretty sure the relationship was longer than 3 months. Based on the lyrics it sounds like they were 3 months on and 3 months off, then on again for a bit. Anyway.
I'm so happy you chose this over Shake It Off. I'll concede that is a great pop song, but it's been played to death and it in no way represents her talent and who she is as an artist. I hope you continue your journey down the rabbit hole. I don't think you'll regret it.

For more like in depth lyrics you can go all the way back to *Mary's Song or Tied Together with a Smile from Debut (remember she's 16 when this was released and 13-16 when these were written), White Horse or The Best Day from Fearless, Dear John or Last Kiss from Speak Now, Clean from 1989, Getaway Car or New Years Day from Reputation...* From there on just take your pick on the rest of the albums. I think as time's gone on she's written less for radio playability and more for herself and her fans. But in the early days she put on a handful of radio smashes that everyone knows like Shake It Off and then there's be a few that were just quintessential Taylor Swift hit you in the hurt songs. Shake it off is great too for an entirely different reason. The video and the part people don't realize in reaction videos is that at the time people were fiercely making fun of her for not being a performer... for not being able to dance. So the entire video is her making fun of herself a bit for not dancing but also saying it's fine. And a lot of her radio hits are like that. They have hidden depth but also super catchy hooks. I Knew You Were Trouble is a prime example. A bop when you listen casually. But if you actually read the lyrics it's pretty sad.

Billboard actually just ranked this song as the number one break-up song of all time. In the song she clearly says that they broke up and then after the relationship had spent "3 months in the grave" he came back, calling it love and wanted to try again, but kept her a secret. Taylor also wrote "We are never ever getting back together " about this relationship, because they had an on and off relationship for WAY longer than people know. So this was longer than a 3 month relationship.

A few of her other magnificent songs were about other heartbreaks by John Mayer...Dear John from Speak Now, and the sister song Would've, Could've, Should've. In that song, the lyrics often repeat Would've and Could've, but only Should've in the chorus. However, i think that's because all the Should'ves are back in Dear John. Last kiss was beautiful heartbreak song about Joe Jonas. But All Too Well takes the cake. I just heard an interview saying the original version was actually 20 minutes long! Jake broke her heart hard.

In these comments, people have been suggesting a lot of TSwift songs, all of which are great. I’ve decided to offer some links to some of them that might help you find the best versions. BTW: I’m often surprised by how many non-fans don’t realize that Taylor’s music ranges over several styles and genres (pop, country, folk, alt, indie, rock, and all possible hyphenated combinations of these). I also want to emphasize that her live performances and music videos are both fantastic. I would suggest that, ideally, you should plan on doing a combination of music video and live performance for each song where both exist.
For her folklore album, I’d recommend clips from her Long Pond Sessions movie. Here are some to consider:
    Exile (Long Pond Sessions)

Taylor Swift - this is me trying (the long pond studio sessions)

Look What You Made Me Do (official music video)

They started dating in the fall. Jake wore alot of plaid flannel shirts, not long after they started dating he took her to spend Thanksgiving with his family at his sister Maggie's house in upstate New York. They broke up when he didn't show up for her 21st birthday after saying he would. He didn't even tell her he changed his mind. He called the next day to apologize. She knew the relationship was over when he didn't show up.
You MUST WATCH the video version of this. It is incredible! It is good to have listened to the words first so you can pick up on little things in the video. She directed the video.
She writes or co-writes all of her songs, produces many of them and directs some of her videos. She has her own management and production company which she is the CEO of. Her parents are directly underneath her. She hand picked everyone on her team.

While her relationship with him was 100% the catalyst for writing the song, I would argue (as Taylor has said many times) that what the song is *about* is more universal; the emotional journey of the beginning and deterioration of a relationship and the recovery from it afterwards. She writes personal, but universally recognizable songs, and does it brilliantly and with perceptive observation, distilled expertly into concise but vivid lyrics. It kind of irks me how obsessive people are about *who* her songs are about. Yeah, it's interesting I guess in a gossipy kind of way, but I think it also trivializes the emotional depth of these masterpieces by treating them like tabloid sensationalized pieces. Or is that just me? Anyway, this is one of my all-time favorites but she has dozens more in this same league. Happy rabbit-holing.

First. The publicly dated 3 months… often celebrities don’t go out in public with their relationship right away. A good example of that is Taylor and her current boyfriend Travis. When the world though we saw their first dates back in September/October 2023 they had already been seeing each other for 2-3 months.. Jake Gyllenhaal was 30 and Taylor 20 when the dated. The relationship seem to have been quite toxic and filled by gaslighting/lov-bombing. Taylor dated Jake after dating John Mayer who she dated when she was 19 and he was 32. (Although the meet way before that after John “slit into her DM’s asking her to do a duet with him. Notice he contacted her directly, not her manager or any of her team. They recorded the duet and then when on tour together, then they officially” started dating. In my opinion he was grooming her and this before she was 18. In interviews John called Taylor a child and talked about a moment when they where rehearsing and he turned around and saw her sitting on her knees drawing pictures on a piece of paper, so innocent and childlike. In a interview with Ellen she even replied “well I hope she stays like that” At the time John Mayer was known as a “lady’s man” he had dated some of the really big names during this time. Before dating Taylor he dated Jessica Simpson. She has written about how toxic and abusive there relationship was in her memoirs . After their break up John went on radio bashing their sexlife and completely shamed Jessica for how her body looked.
Taylor has written several songs about John Mayer to. Among them “Dear John” and “would’ve could’ve should’ve (which she wrote when she was 32, the age John was when they dated)) So, unfortunately Taylor was in 2 toxic/abusive relationship when she was very young. Those relationships and going through them has damaged her and impacted her life and all the relationships that followed.

And on top of that the media blamed HER for those relationships, calling her toxic, a maneater, implying she was a slut after being “such a good girl,” and that she was going after “these men” just so she could write breakup songs. She was labeled trouble, someone to avoid dating, etc… it was really, really awful.

If he still has the scarf he should auction it for charity. That thing is biblical at this point

Note that Taylor had said that the scarf is a metaphor, and to stop asking Jake to return it. Folks have drawn some pretty intrusive conclusions from that, which is kinda… gross, imo, but I guess ymmv. She’s also taken, on her re-releases, to ask fans not to harass the people they believe these songs to be about.

Love doesn't keep time. A 3 mth relationship can have more of an impact & be more meaningful to you than a 3 yr one - esp if it's your first love.

Oh you haven’t heard the true heartbreak of Taylor swift you need to listen to dear John which is about her relationship with John Mayer and do the Taylor’s version

This was a much better choice than Shake it Off. They’re both good songs but this one in particular is a way better example of what she’s capable of lyrically. She’s legitimately a poet and her radio hits don’t necessarily showcase that talent.

That is so true. I had no idea, until i saw The Eras Tour movie. I knew more songs than i had expected. Now I am a fan. The joy of the concert and the little girls dancing and singing in the theatre. Just beautiful.

The 'f* the patriarchy' part. A lot of people miss that it's the words that are written on his keychain rather than a phrase she's actually saying/calling him. A keychain he threw at her. But there's some tension there. Like the keychain--his keychain--says 'f* the patriarchy' yet he's sort of a hypocrite. A guy gaslighting her about how serious their relationship was. She's repeating and repeating that she was there... like she's not crazy... it was a serious relationship. And as it ends she ends on 'you remember it' ... like dude admit we were together and a couple and it was a big deal. But he's a guy who's not emotionally available. A guy dating younger women perpetually. A guy who downplays what she was to him. Sounds like a stereotypical guy to me.

Well you are correct so I’ll fix it but it’s not grammatically correct lol “Too” means “Also” it reads All Also Well… hmmm 🤔

    • @r0gue_988
      @r0gue_988 2 місяці тому

@@TCBReacts No, "All Too Well" is grammatically correct. "To" is a preposition (at least most of the time), which means it would be used before a noun/pronoun to show direction, time, place, or the relationship between two nouns. "Too" can mean "also," but "too" is also an adverb, so it can describe an adjective. In the phrase "all too well," "too" is describing "well." You would see a similar usage of the word "too" in a sentence like, "you're walking too fast," where "too" would describe "fast."

Anytime you see someone claim a song is about so and so take it with a grain of salt. Taylor doesn't confirm who songs are about, but says that they know who they are, so unless they do a dumb like John Mayer there is no official confirmation. Swifties map details from the publicly known parts of her relationships to details in songs, but no guarantee they're correct.

@@khillsit probably is,but Maggie didn't write the song. So that's a grain of salt, unless Taylor ever says.

@@Kellendras1 I mean, it's not really a grain of salt for Maggie to say that the exact opening verse happened. 🤷🏼‍♀ Is it possible Swift used different experiences for the song? Sure - but the specific details she put in have been confirmed by other people in the song, who were there. (And Taylor herself has confirmed how long she dated JG.)
