- Step back in time with this special 1940s newsreel edition of the #Coronation 👑 of King Charles III and Queen Camilla on 6th May 2023. Experience the excitement and pageantry of this historic event the same way most Britons would have watched the Coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, through newsreels.
This ‘newsreel’ video offers a brief recapitulation of the major events on Coronation Day, from the Procession to Westminster Abbey, the Crowning itself, the return procession, and the fly-past above Buckingham Palace.
The 1940s newsreel style, with its music and dramatic narration evokes a sense of nostalgia and grandeur that perfectly complements the royal event.
We hope that this style of presentation will provide you with a unique perspective on the Coronation, allowing one to appreciate the event in a historical context and to see it through the eyes of one’s predecessors, adding a layer of depth and meaning to one’s understanding of the present.
So sit back, relax, and prepare to be amused - as Britons were in 1937 when they watched King George VI’s Coronation on screen - with this special 1940s newsreel edition of the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
Closed captioning is available in English.

So Cleverly done.
This is so cleverly done.
For even more early black-and-white TV feel, watch in 144p.
Yes!
This is brilliantly well done.
Brilliant: the mystique has been achieved that the modern cameras and commentary (quite rightly) took away!
Good job
can you do a Newsreel for The death of Queen Elizabeth II?
Really cool!
Thank you!
Happy Coronation to King Charles the III & Queen Camilla.
6th May 2023 this year.
Well put together!
R.I.P Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the II.
Charles's Beloved Mother.
70 Years Regin on The Throne of The UK and The Commonwealth 1952-2022.
Elizabeth 1926-2022.
Final resting place at Windsor Castle, down in the Valut of St George's Chapel.
Great work!
Oh, My, God. This was amazing! It feels so real, and you get a powerful, regal feel while watching it and then you're just saying God Save the King for a while. I myself am British, and I'm also like most brits, not a royalist but this breathes fresh air into me compared to the real, long, dreary coronation, I mean the king looked like he was going to a costume party in the real one!
80% of the UK are either for crown and country or neutral, whilst only about 20% are anti monarchist (traitor basically)
Now my life is complete
GOD SAVE THE KING & QUEEN.
God save the king
Oh nice
This is quite weird, but well done showing how it will look some 60 years in the future!
this is more powerful
what is the song title in 4:30 please?
Pomp and Circumstance March No. 4 by Edward Elgar.
GOD SAVE THE KING.
LONG LIVE THE KING.
Vivat Rex!
❤🎉🇬🇧🙌
This brings out the differences between the 1937/1953 Coronations and the 2023 Coronation. 2023 was pretty but, there was a "Majesty" that the first 2 had that the 2024 didn't. First and foremost - The Crowns did not fit them, particularly Camilla's. Eh, times change.
Deus inclitum regem nostrum semper servabit, Carolum III, non amet multum temporis regnaturus, secundus est Edwardus VII. Dum vivit, eum solum avemus, princeps etiam Walliae fere vitae suae usque nunc fuit. Pater meus "coronationem" illius tamquam princeps Walliae cum Carolus XX annorum erat spectabat. vivat rex Karolus tercius, diu regnat et Deus principi benedicat coronam.
This Latin comment is amazing - you must be a classical scholar!
Doesn’t “Deus principi benedictat coronam” translate to “God bless the principal/first crown”, where ‘principal’ means the highest in rank - giving “God bless the King’s crown”.
@@virginiafry9854Ita sum, in hoc laboravi ex 2021 et tandem facultas id monstrandi ante te habui. Doctrina latina dura est, sed si de Traiano vel de Iulio Caesare secundo cogitas, verba tua pop.
God Save The King
