    Head over to

  • @Smettli

    "Prog-rock wave". Adding some smoothness.

I'd probably go with just Prog Rock or, if you want to be a bit more niche, Prog Alternative Rock. Anything with more than 3 words feels overly restrictive in my opinion

  • @GladiusRationis

These Projects came to my mind when i think about some resemblance to your kind of music (all of them worth a check out, in case you don‘t know one):

    Modern Contemporary Rock Music!

  • @jadbouaidi7171

"etheral Prog rock" or just "etheral prog" is the term that fits the most to the vibe and the sound of Our Oceans.

  • @Hellborg81

Do people who listen to Our Oceans also listen to "Prog" or " Post-Rock"? I actually think that most of them do, so i t may be better to carry on into this ~labelling~.

  • @anpunefru

Gewoon progrock is toch al behoorlijk breed. Voor potentiële nieuwe luisteraars moet je toch wel iets de aandacht trekken😂

    Alterative/Progressive

When I recommend Our Oceans to a friend, they said you sound kinda like Porcupine Tree. I don't totally agree, but here is their opinion. So "prog rock" definitely works.

I see the allure of the pop label (way more freedom to avoid being stylistically pigeonholed) but as far as broad categories go I think rock is inextricable from your sound. I actually think the tags on the Our Oceans albums on Bandcamp are appropriate with ones like "experimental", which could be less likely to create specific expectations in how it's perceived as long as it's combined with "post rock" or something to distinguish it from challenging, fully experimental music. Maybe that way you can get a nice compromise between prog nerds and broader audiences.

Best label: the "alternative prog rock" or "indie prog rock"label would be ok if you ask me, considering your evolution. Adding something to "prog rock" does not necessarely announce a "niche" band but on the contrary can describe some open-minded, breaking boundaries music like yours. Your second album is definitely not another prog album. The first one already had a "Jeff Buckley" vibe in it. It seems maybe pretentious to say "hey, we sound like Jeff Buckley" but that's the first thing that came to my mind while hearing to your first album, and it's still relevant today (so how is Jeff Buckley's music labelled?) It's still too intricate and sometimes too loud to be labelled as "pop-idkwhat", imo.
