    Every new Band-Maid song rings out with new and innovative riff and chord structures, beat patterns and fills, vocal runs, backups, melodies and lyrics. The Maids continue to pack so much into their songs without them feeling cluttered, repetitive or overplayed. Their composition and execution is always refreshing and amazing to witness and hear. Once again, the supreme Maids -- Kanami, Saiki, Miku, Akane and MISA -- push their contributions to exciting, new levels of writing, playing and performance! We are so lucky to be living in the age of Band-Maid!🤘🎀🤘Thx, Howard!

    Starting from the first riff with it's dissonant note there are so many subversions of what we usually expect from Band-Maid. But at the same time, has all the Band-Maid awesomeness we want (and even some extra, with the extended solo). I hope there's more of this style on the new EP!
    I agree the chorus wasn't the most amazing thing they've ever done, but it felt more aggressive to me than usual which was another cool change from our (well, at least my) expectations.

      Nice point!! I think that starting with anything but a major chord is always a nice way of showing that you want to create a melodic pattern that will pay off with time, rather than a blank earworm. This is a nice application of that, and hence why the chorus doesn't especially need to be memorable, it's more a song about a melodic journey, a NARRATIVE you may say 😂! I think the song's greatest quality is just a general sense of flow that supercedes the need to focus on a chorus necessarily. Rewarding listen for sure

    For me, it's like a modern day "Yolo", with their skills 3.0 ! And I love the video too, much more than the Forbidden Tale one, much more dynamic, with great lights and camera moves. A winner for sure!

    I always feel Kanami’s solos should be twice as long in just about every song, including this one. It’s called Mincho Madness. :)

    Saiki and her vocals just keep getting better. The music is once again catchy and memorable. There is a reason Band Maid keep being asked to write and perform anime themes. The songs just keep you wanting more.

    I just got done watching the anime. 1st episode doesn't have any opening credit. 2nd episode is when the song is used. Can't read Japanese, but I think the lyrics are written by Saiki.
    In the credit you'll see Saiki's name, then I assumed the two lines under says, written by Band-Maid, performed by Band-Maid.

    Your "Mike Oldfield" mentality is coming out, He famously said (after someone complained about his tendency to repeat phrases enough times to fill out one side of an album), "If something is worth doing, it's Worth repeating...A LOT". Or something like that. - Increase the Bridge before the Extra-Large solo? Kanami knows exactly how long to make things, just enjoy the "serving", it has enough salt. 😄

    • @BakaBreakdown
      @BakaBreakdown  3 дні тому +2

      Haha, love that reference. I must admit that usually I actually complain about repetition much more, but there can be the opposite thing when you have a good idea and underdevelop it. It wasn't so much that I wanted the exact same thing again, but a ramping up of that melodic bridge segment to better throw us in to the solo. You could say, more to add to the glory of the incoming solo? 😂 See how I turned that around lol? 😂

    It's a great song on its own, but it's really perfect for the anime it represents. The tone and lyrics should sound very appropriate to any follower of the story being told. The hook of the post-chorus is fantastic, very Band Maid-like, but for me what has struck me the most is the second verse and, of course, the bridge. Anyway. Another one for the playlist.

      Love for the bridge is always appreciated! 🌉🌉🌉😂
      I think it was certainly a song of well connected parts and segments that created a really rewarding flow in the final analysis, so I love how you've rightly picked out those nice distinct moments.

    !st MV with Kanami's PRS Signature Guitar. Lots of anime production references in the lyrics since the protagonist of the anime is an anime artist.

    For me, the song is very much in the Band Maid style that they've moved to when Unleash was released. In some ways, this is a good exploration of that sound, however, it's not quite the instantly catchy songs that slowed a little after Unseen World. - Not that I have any sway over Band Maid, I feel they need a strong song in their earlier style(s) to keep some of the veteran fans engaged. - For an Ani-song it's good. As a stand alone, marginally less so.

      From the standpoint of someone who likes Band-Maid (a lot, actually) but doesn't _love_ them, I think you're spot-on. This song is a lot more interesting and engaging than the run-of-the-mill anisong offering, but for me that's mostly on the basis of some really strong instrumental performances and a punchy mix. Which one simply expects from musicians of their caliber...
      The composition, arrangement, and melodic intervals don't really stand out a lot from a lot of other Band-Maid releases. That's not necessarily a bad thing when you're giving a lot of fans exactly what they want, but for me, it's not a song I'll probably revisit often. Call it my second-favorite song titled "Zen" by a Japanese female rock band. ;)

      I love many post UW releases. Hibana, Corallium, Influencer, FT, FNO, The One, Shambles, Tamaya! etc and they are very high on my personal BM rankings. But I do get your point. Shambles and Hate probably resemble the earlier sound the most. I have heard some say that about Letters to You.

    • @falconsooner
      @falconsooner 4 дні тому +2

      @DavidKAnderson It is similar to some releases like Protect You but other releases like FT and Bestie are quite a bit different as well as The One. So I don't think it is entirely paint by numbers and even in the similar sounding songs there enough differences to keep them distinguishable IMO. It is funny, Nemo is a band I also like a lot but don't love. I like BM much more but Nemo's Zen is a banger and one of my top 3 played Nemo songs. It is on my workout playlist

      From a personal point of view, I enjoy Band-Maid's general trajectory, and that is a constant development in styles. I love everything that Band-Maid has self-composed, and the last thing I want is them to be comfortable in a specific style and stay there. I know some wants Band-Maid to return to past glories, but I rather Band-Maid creates songs that they are satisfied with, without to much catering to fans. It may be a miss to some fans, but I rather they nail a song in whatever style they are now eager to pursue, instead of pushing out something their heart isn't quite into.

    • @triquivijate
      @triquivijate 3 дні тому

      @@DavidKAnderson Yeah, it's very much recent Band Maid, not as much classic Band Maid. - For me I'd like them to sprinkle a bit more of that old magic back into their songs. - And TBH, after several listens, the song is certainly growing on me. :)

    I want a live version. I think this music video version is a bit too dense. The wall of sound is a bit too much. Otherwise it sounds like a very good song.

    • @chrisbergsten1429
      @chrisbergsten1429 4 дні тому +2

      Yeah, I like the song, but there's something about the production that sounds congested. I think a live version would open it up.

    • @BakaBreakdown
      @BakaBreakdown  3 дні тому

      I think the live version is always a fun companion, as we get to hear both balances. It will be interesting to hear how that sounds by comparison for sure!
