From Japan BAND-MAID is a five-member girl rock band. This year marks their 12th anniversary. The members have not changed. They are a hard rock band and are considered by fans to be one of the best hard rock bands in the world. They usually have 23 songs and 2 hours of live performances. They were formed in Japan in 2013 by side guitarist Miku Kobato. Miku had experience working at a maid cafe in Akihabara, Tokyo, and came up with the idea of playing cool music in maid outfits. That's why the band was named BAND-MAID. "Thrill" was their first music video in 2014, and six months later, it suddenly achieved 2 million views in two weeks, avoiding disbandment and deciding to become a hard rock band. Welcome to Band Maid! The best rock band on the planet (imo of course). These lovely ladies have been kicking all of the ass for over a decade and are prolific song writers. They have around 150 songs so far with another album coming this year and are incapable of writing a bad song. You hit one of the key components- they put a smile, a huge smile, on their fan's faces, heck, even have a song called Smile. You young buck have landed upon the best most prolific band in the world. And you haven't even seen them live yet live vids- THEY RULE.

Better than Zep, D Purp, Bowie, Metallica you name them and I'm dead serious. You've just discovered the best band you never knew existed. If you already like Japan and anime (so no problems with the language), they're gonna hit you with greatly written and sounding songs, wholesome, lovable, hardworking members, top notch musicianship. Every new song you hear from them will be your new favorite.
They started with the more traditional maid out fits that you would see in the cafe, but they switched to each wearing outfits from different regions of the world. Saiki lead vocal has a Latin inspired design. Miku rhythm guitar and 2nd vocalist is a French outfit Kanami lead guitar went with traditional English style MISA bass is Chinese themed Akane drums a Page Boy inspiration. These styles have slowly taken on the individuals desire and style. I have heard someone call these new ones 'goth maid' and I kind of agree.
Well done. You have discovered one of more interesting Japanese all female bands. Great musicians and a singer with a lower range to so many and less grating.

4:03 / 7:44 that's also the first thing that jumped out on me when i tuned in to the premiere of the mv. it's the main hook and it rolled in on the fourth measure after the introductory vocal line. my jaw dropped on that sinister minor chord. band-maid has that 'illness' -- they're prone to sneaking sick music structures and/or layers to their compositions, like, they didn't have to do it, but they did. and here we are, maidiacs with mouth agape and jaw dropped. you've stepped into the doorstep. welcome to the pigeon hole.
@kaNjiXIII just a paraphrase of the 'down the rabbit hole' expression from alice in wonderland. it's a way of alluding to the band's founder/secondary vocals/main lyricist/rhythm guitarist miku kobato, whose surname translates to 'little pigeon'. her idea of creating this collective genius is something we fans are grateful for. so anyone who discovers, appreciates and willingly digs further is thus 'cautioned' about entering this music hole. once you get in, there's no turning back. it's impossible to undo the enjoyment.

Band-Maid is what happened when you have an all-virtuoso band of musicians, a best of all time level songwriting team, dedication to hard work and their fan base, complete disregard of genre (so try to have no expectations when you listen to a new song - and don't think you know what the song will be like after one minute - you probably don't), fantastic creativity and extremely uplifting music and messaging. That's part of why we Maidiacs are so....er...enthusiastic🙂! Their music can make your face hurt from grinning like a fool. Their lead guitarist by the way just became the first Japanese to get her own Signature Model PRS - presented by Paul himself in Japan quite recently. @@kaNjiXIII Since the very end of their third album, the five members have been their own song writers with a few collaborations sprinkled in. Lead guitar Kanami is the main composer, rhythm guitar Miku is the primary lyricist. Main vocalist Saiki also contributes lyrics. Akane (drums) and MISA, MISA, MISA (bass) devise their own parts and it is a team effort to produce the final product. Song writers for their early recordings were top notch and did fantastic work for the band. Their early stuff should not be overlooked (especially "Don't Apply The Brake", a personal favorite).
@@kaNjiXIII They are a great songwriting team!!! Every song basically after the song "Alone" is composed by the band. Before that, the songs were given to them by management. That was a long time ago though so they've been writing their own stuff from 2016 on. Kanami (Mincho), the lead guitarist, is the main songwriter and Miku (rhythm guitar, background vocals and band founder) is the main lyricist. Kanami is a GENIUS composer. After 70 songs, you'll still be getting nothing but winners. That's why I compare them to Lennon/McCartney because for most of their career, everything the Beatles put out was either a great song or groundbreaking in some way.

My friend, nothing yet. Listen to them live, even if it's fan cam, and be prepared for the impact. No matter how much we tell you about the Maidiacs, you must see them live to understand our words. They are unreal in concert. I like to say that MVs are like training for them, then the directs arrive and your world explodes. IMO, probably the best band in...but they need time, not much and, please, play with us using a dart choosing songs. Is going to be funny watch your face ! Do it, any sogn ...no problem

BAND-MAID is a five-member girl rock band. This year marks their 12th anniversary. The members have not changed. They are a hard rock band and are considered by fans to be one of the best hard rock bands in the world. They usually have 23 songs and 2 hours of live performances. They were formed in Japan in 2013 by side guitarist Miku Kobato. Miku had experience working at a maid cafe in Akihabara, Tokyo, and came up with the idea of playing cool music in maid outfits. That's why the band was named BAND-MAID. "Thrill" was their first music video in 2014, and six months later, it suddenly achieved 2 million views in two weeks, avoiding disbandment and deciding to become a hard rock band. They have also performed overseas and are gaining more fans. Currently, they write, compose, and arrange all of their songs themselves. They have 140 original songs. These lovely ladies have been kicking all of the ass for over a decade and are prolific song writers. They have around 150 songs so far with another album coming this year and are incapable of writing a bad song.

They started with the more traditional maid out fits that you would see in the cafe, but they switched to each wearing outfits from different regions of the world.
Saiki lead vocal has a Latin inspired design.
Miku rhythm guitar and 2nd vocalist is a French outfit
Kanami lead guitar went with traditional English style
MISA bass is Chinese themed
Akane drums a Page Boy inspiration.
These styles have slowly taken on the individuals desire and style. I have heard someone call these new ones 'goth maid' and I kind of agree.

Band-Maid is what happened when you have an all-virtuoso band of musicians, a best of all time level songwriting team, dedication to hard work and their fan base, complete disregard of genre (so try to have no expectations when you listen to a new song - and don't think you know what the song will be like after one minute - you probably don't), fantastic creativity and extremely uplifting music and messaging. That's part of why we Maidiacs are so....er...enthusiastic🙂! Their music can make your face hurt from grinning like a fool. Their lead guitarist by the way just became the first Japanese to get her own Signature Model PRS - presented by Paul himself in Japan quite recently. There are no superlatives good enough for this band.

@@kaNjiXIII Since the very end of their third album, the five members have been their own song writers with a few collaborations sprinkled in. Lead guitar Kanami is the main composer, rhythm guitar Miku is the primary lyricist. Main vocalist Saiki also contributes lyrics. Akane (drums) and MISA, MISA, MISA (bass) devise their own parts and it is a team effort to produce the final product. Song writers for their early recordings were top notch and did fantastic work for the band. Their early stuff should not be overlooked (especially "Don't Apply The Brake", a personal favorite).
@@kaNjiXIII They are a great songwriting team!!! Every song basically after the song "Alone" is composed by the band. Before that, the songs were given to them by management. That was a long time ago though so they've been writing their own stuff from 2016 on. Kanami (Mincho), the lead guitarist, is the main songwriter and Miku (rhythm guitar, background vocals and band founder) is the main lyricist. Kanami is a GENIUS composer. After 70 songs, you'll still be getting nothing but winners. That's why I compare them to Lennon/McCartney because for most of their career, everything the Beatles put out was either a great song or groundbreaking in some way.
Good news, BAND-MAID doesn't have a bad song in their entire 120+ song catalog. You'll have content for awhile lol

Für nicht wenige, mich eingeschlossen, stehen diese Damen hier ganz am oberen Ende der Nahrungskette, wenn es um das Rock-Genre unserer Zeit geht. Der Katalog von ihnen ist im positivsten Sinne einfach nur krank. 130+ Songs die abwechslungsreich sind und unten denen nicht ein einziger dabei ist, der das Label schlecht verdient hat. Wenn du diese Art Musik magst, merk dir diesen Tag gut, an denen du sie gefunden hast. :)
