You should check out the video: "Ed Sheeran - Give me love performance (best live version) - 2014" and skip to like 8 minutes. He sings these high notes and loops them live so they sound like the violins that are suppose to be in the song. It is without a doubt his best live performance.

This song doesn’t just show how amazing a song writer Ed is it also shows that he is one of the best vocal singers out there at the moment, the chorus wow. What a talent.

This song and video perfectly captures the feeling of grief, depression, and even suicidal ideation. The feelings so bleak, the pain that roots you so strongly in the present where you can't even imagine tomorrow, yet the feelings are so strong that you'd rather be anywhere else but in your body right now. The invisible half-deadness of walking around with the weight of it all, feeling like no one can possibly see or understand, and you just want to be left alone. What's also expressed is that tomorrow is real and can be so powerful, and people can relate and understand if you let them in. Grief can be isolating, but it doesn't have to be. That is the borderline, the choice between hiding or wanting to give up and run away, or staying, facing it with courage (even when it's scary) and letting love in.

I have a borderline personality disorder and this song shines some light through my daily darkness❤
This video was filmed on Southwold pier, UK.
Running the full length of the handrails all round the pier are brass plaques in memory of the loss of loved ones.
My dad died suddenly in 2001 when the pier was being rebuilt. He loved Southwold.
He never got to see it finished so we had one of these plaques fitted.
"Nigel, your a part of it, love Jane, James and Emma"
So this video for me is extremely close to my heart. The way the people walk through him got the tears flowing

This song makes me feel like flying. You can see everything from above or on the sides but nobody sees you. In the show that I am writing I am using rhythmic ribbons to create this sensation where everything has to fly and melt in the air and you have to think and realize.

This video couldn't have been in a more poignant place for me. For context, that's Southwold pier in Suffolk - around the edge are metal plaques dedicated to various people, and both my sister and nana have memorials on it. Hearing Ed sing this song, whilst walking past the exact places where those plaques are, is pretty overwhelming

This song is huge in meaning. Sometimes I come back here, when the anxiety is bigger than my dreams and hope. And in this place where I heard it for the first time, I listen to each part, decoding this message like a child discovering a new world. It's my tree house. My shelter.
This song is of the absolute best. Saw him perform it at a small venue show. He is amazingly talented at capturing the raw feelings of despair.

I am not sure if that was the message but as someone who's struggled with depression my whole life (and incidently BPD) this song really strucks a chord. Many chords actually. It's bringing me hope, just because it's beautiful. And at the end of the day when life is so grey, the only thing holding us here is beauty.
