I flew Aer Lingus (EI) in 2016 with my wife and two kids ORD-DUB-AMS and back. We are planning this trip again in July. It's an A330-300 for the big hop, an A320 for the little hop. We love the A330 due to it's 2-4-2 configuration. There are 4 of us and whether we sit near the windows in two rows, or in the center and one row, it's good room for all. On the short flights it's a 3-3 config, and I'm sitting on the aisle by myself and they get to sit together. There are many great reasons to fly EI, but one of the best is pre-clearance into the US in the basement of DUB. Skipping the lines for immigration at ORD is a blessing to say the least. I’m Irish and yeah I’ve flown with Aer Lingus but it was a much smaller plane with only 3 seats either side instead of two 5/6 then two again. And personally I prefer Aer Lingus over Ryan air as there is a lot more leg room and most staff tend to be a lot nicer. But if ur looking to get a cheap flight literally saying u get what u pay for then I recommend Ryan air😁
Took an Aer Lingus flight in 2014. By far my favorite experience on a flight. Watched some classic movies, food was decent, booze was even better. Made the trip go by like a breze.
We were interested to hear your thoughts on this airline. We actually enjoyed it and the food wasn't bad. We actually use quite a bit of the inflight, but I don't think we used it there. Whiskey and coke is the way to go.That sucks that they didn't give her a proper meal on the first flight.
@@LincolnintheAdirondacks yeah, I've flown across the Atlantic in both, Aer Lingus, and American Airlines; overall, it was an ok experience (to me), in both. For long haul flights, however, my favourite airlines are SAS, and Swiss!

I am going to fly with Aer Lingus in July. What was in the low fodmap meal? I was recently advised to go on this diet and am curious to know what they did.
I regularly used Aer lingus being a Dubliner living in the UK frequently going home , but nowadays I use Southampton airport as its beside me here in the south and Aer lingus dont fly in here. I know I'm late on seeing this video - but I was curious on your experience with carry-on and personal items. Were they strict? The limits for the personal item are crazy small - 10 x 13 x 8 inches - and I was planning on bringing a northface backpack which is more like 17 x 14 x 6 inches. Do you think I'd get away with this if I keep it on the emptier side? I need the backpack for my studies when I get to Dublin anyway and am trying to avoid the bulk it'll create in my checked bag, and am already using a carry on that is within the flight limits. Thanks for your time and for the video!
The personal item is gonna go under your seat, so as long as the bag can be squished down I think you’ll be fine. But, you’re also losing more if your personal space
Lincoln Riddle right on. We were talking about our UK hats and if it would be a good idea to leave them at home. Our trip isn’t until May. Thanks for responding and Merry Christmas!
Good review but I have one thing to point out.. you’re talking about having only one drinks service. It’s less than 6h flight. I don’t know any company that has more than one drinks service (some not ever tea or coffee, specially in Europe). There’s also duty free service, which many companies don’t do. They still give you all the drinks you like if you go to them or press the call bell. The more services the more noise and as it’s a night flight ppl just want to sleep.
He meant during the main meal/dinner service. Most airlines in economy will come with drinks before the dinner, then serve the dinner and come back for a round of second drinks or refills. It’s very cheap and greedy that Aer Lingus despite already only having wine/alcohol for sale, won’t do another round of drinks to get more soda or something with the main meal. Since dinner was served like an hour after the drinks, don’t you think most would have already finished their drink in that one hour? Cheap
@@iNickRivas, in economy there’s a drinks & pretzels service, meal service, tea and coffee, duty free service, 2 water services, breakfast service. In a 6h flight. Again, like I said, at any time if you ask for a drink you will get whatever you ask for. And most passengers in a night flight just want to go to sleep anyway. No one would want another drinks service… especially if they still get the drinks they ask for at any time 🤷🏻♀️ it’s not true that most airlines would do it on a night flight. Maybe Asian airlines do but that’s it.
@@Press2GetTheCookie he clearly said in the video and replied in the comments it was served an hour after. You need to fly more, I’ve flown them before and never will again, they are very cheap, cheaper than what you pay for. And you will not get more soda or juice if you ask, I’ve seen them say only water on request. Most airlines would not do that, I’ve flown BA, AA, Lufthansa etc across and they all include wine not separate and do more drink rounds (you can find reviews like this one for other airlines on similar night flights), all during the night transatlantic flights.
@@Press2GetTheCookie he clearly said meal took more than an hour after drinks and replied to some comments as well 🤣like I said I’ve flown this and meal time does take an hour or so after the drink gets to you. It’s not them being lazy and waiting, but rather the time it takes to roll out everything, which is why other airlines will do the food and directly behind the drink kart again.
I like the review - just flew Aer Lingus from DUB-JFK yesterday for the first time on a trip where I had flown Virgin Atlantic to London just a few days earlier. I was on the A330-200 (yours was a A330-300, similar but slightly bigger.) The food and IFE were basically the same. I'm not sure how I feel about Aer Lingus actually. They were not bad, and I wouldn't avoid them or anything silly like that, but they are also well off the pace of the best transatlantic airlines. Having recently flown across the pond to the British Isles several times, sampling an American B777-300ER, a couple of refurbished British Airways B747s, both a Virgin Atlantic B789 Dreamliner and a B747, and last week, a Virgin Atlantic Airbus A350-1000 (aka 351), I can confidently say that Aer Lingus has the worst hard product of all of them. Perhaps I am being picky: the seats are old-fashioned (I didn't know about the USB in the armrest and fiddled with the power socket under the seat to charge my phone) and in general the IFE feels like it is from a different generation. The Aer Lingus IFE is about on par with Virgin's B747s, part of their leisure fleet, which are on their way out in the next few months. They were great in 2005 but in today's age they just don't have the amount of content that the other carriers have on their newer/refurbished aircraft. The moving map, also a favorite of mine, cannot be zoomed in or out or otherwise customized - what you see is what you get. Even VS' old 747s had a fully customizable map! Compare that to the very detailed map screen on Virgin's new A350, and the addition of a tail and nose camera, and it's no comparison. AA's IFE system was fast and offered a ton of content, lots of movies and tv choices by comparison; it was a nice surprise! I hate to say that I felt bored with the Aer Lingus selection but on a seven hour flight, I was running out of things to keep me interested. With that, I found the Aer Lingus crew to be friendly and efficient, but I also noticed they spent at least half the flight huddled in the back of the aircraft talking away. How about a second drink service or something else to pass the time? The VS crew came around with hot towels and candies/mints in Economy class, but there were no such extras with the Irish airline. BA seems to be hit or miss but I've had generally very good experiences with them and their service has also been very good, and AA was okay on my flight from Miami with perhaps the best food I've had on any recent crossing. Ireland is a beautiful country - although I've yet to properly visit - but the whole Aer Lingus experience was a little dated and not on par with the better airlines. Still, I would definitely fly them again to/from Dublin or Shannon but I wouldn't consider them as a great option for connecting around the rest of Europe. Too many other (better) choices for that. Still, I was happy for yesterday's opportunity to travel with them and your video was on point.
How many drink services would you expect to come through the cabin on a through-the-night flight when most people are trying to sleep? You got a drink service, dinner service and breakfast service on a six hour flight. Not sure why you’d be expecting any more than that tbh?
He meant during the main meal/dinner service. Most airlines in economy will come with drinks before the dinner, then serve the dinner and come back for a round of second drinks or refills. Hey Lincoln!! Cool to see you go on Air Lingus to Ireland.. $600/per person round trip is a great price. Cool that they had pillow and blankets for some comfort. We were wondering if they designed that plane for Leprechauns?? LOLOL If you were only 5'8" and your knees were almost touching the back.. how could you be 6 feet + in that plane?? OMG!! That's crazy that the bathroom didn't work near you guys, and the armrest didn't go all the way up on your seat! Well.. the silver lining.. was at least you got some good chocolate mousse and a pudding cup of water LOL!! Great video and happy travels! Much love!
Virgin gives free alcohol. I have the AMEX card that gives me access to the Virgin Club at SFO so I will be trying it out! 6 Euro is not too bad but I still like it included.
The fact you’re 5ft 8 and had 2 inch legroom isn’t that good 😂 I’m flying to the states with Aer Lingus next year and thankfully I’ve claimed a bulkhead seat!

I’ve flown across the Atlantic many times and never ever had to pay for alcohol and that’s economy class also so that’s a first . I guess to keep costs down but I think that’s poor . Aer Lingus are actually pretty decent but this flight I thought wasn’t great if honest . Didn’t load her meal disgusting filth around power sockets etc . I know having a negative opinion isn’t great but honestly a lot better products out there
All fair points! The flight back was much better than this one, but I didn’t record it :/ lol The best flight I’ve ever had across the Atlantic was surprisingly with United Airlines from EWR to LHR. The worst flight? With United Airlines from LHR to EWR lol
Watford Fc I think the policy of having to pay for alcohol in economy class is changing soon. I believe economy class passengers will get complimentary (limited) use of the WiFi too

I flew Aer Lingus (EI) in 2016 with my wife and two kids ORD-DUB-AMS and back. We are planning this trip again in July. It's an A330-300 for the big hop, an A320 for the little hop. You should make the trip!! It’s a lovely place
I live in Ireland. steer clear of dublin. its absolutely awful for tourists. Go to galway and those parts. so much better
Completely agree but they should visit dublin for a couple days but don’t stay there
@@fishingisquay4849 Yeah maybe for 2 days or so. No more because its a really bad representation of ireland as a whole.
Shlug life agreed!
Do you know if your armrest went up?
Hey Lincoln! Too bad we didn't get the chance to meet up! Next time, hope you enjoyed Ireland!
🇺🇸🇮🇪🇨🇦☮️💪🏽🤠👍🏽☮️🇨🇦🇮🇪🇺🇸
Loved it, Sonny!! I can see why you live there 😃
did the blanket cost something?
No you always get a blanket and pillow on transatlantic flights with aer Lingus free of charge
@@johnzond do you keep the blanket afterwards or is it only for the duration of the flight
Cant wait until next october im going to new york from uk i am going with these i soo cant wait! 😆
That will be a fun trip! Do you have any big plans once you get to NYC?
Lincoln Riddle yes actually we are going to have new york passes so we will be able to do lots, so much better than spain every year 🙃
@@BudgieQPD is that your first time ever being to America
I have flown aerlingus twice
Just noticed your UK hat. We're from Louisville. How did that "UK" hat go over in Ireland?
I actually only wore it on this flight haha I grew up in Lawrenceburg, then lived in Lexington while I attended UK. I'm now living in Pennsylvania!
Lincoln Riddle right on. We were talking about our UK hats and if it would be a good idea to leave them at home. Our trip isn’t until May. Thanks for responding and Merry Christmas!
I think you’ll be fine. These type of hats are typically a dead giveaway that you’re a tourist, but if you don’t mind that, I’d take em!
You said you're a big guy. Did you have seat belt issues?
No, no problems at all. Granted, I never do on any plane
I fail the tray table test
Wait how long into the flight do you get dinner?
It was either 90 minutes or three hours lol I can’t remember which one
Cesar 4nier depends how busy the drinks service is. But usually not more than 1:30h after take off.
@@iNickRivas and meal isn’t served 1h after drinks, it’s served STRAIGHT after. It could be 15 min or 30 min depending on how busy it is but not more
@@Press2GetTheCookie he clearly said in the video and replied in the comments it was served an hour after.
Food was good, seat was comfortable, and we got there on time ...what more could you want! 🙌
Free WiFi!!!! 😂 How else am I gonna catch up on Gina Walters videos if I don’t have WiFi?!
Lincoln Riddle oh yes - of course - forget everything I said. WiFi is the make or break!
Yes free Wi-Fi.
Omg I 'm from Ireland so I use Aer Lingus most of the time unless I'm travelling indirect to the states and those earphones drive me mad!! 🤣
Shocking food! Taking my own if I use them.
@@iNickRivas I know what he meant. Most airlines actually don’t come through with the bar a second time. Not anymore. Not even the likes of Emirates.
Much love!
Aer* Lingus
Aer lingus best company friendly staff
I forgot to mention the staff in this video!!! They were excellent
Virgin gives free alcohol. I have the AMEX card that gives me access to the Virgin Club at SFO so I will be trying it out! 6 Euro is not too bad but I still like it included.
The fact you’re 5ft 8 and had 2 inch legroom isn’t that good 😂
I’m flying to the states with Aer Lingus next year and thankfully I’ve claimed a bulkhead seat!
THE MEALS ISE TO BE A LOT NICER AND YOU GOT A HELL OF A LOT MORE BOUZE
I am literally flying to Dublin in 2 hrs 😂😂😂 thanks man
How was it?
Do you get free alcohol?
We did not on this flight
I know this is a weird question…. do the seat smelled reason why I’m asking is because they can’t really wipe the seats if they’re cloth.
I didn’t notice anything unusual
That’s a the old design / livery
This flight co. seems very outgoing to satisfy too!
Aer Lingus is great I gotta say
I’ve went on them 4 times long haul to east coast and they are amazing. I also went premium with them and it was almost like business class 😳
Thanks for the upload, I'm flying from Boston to London on Aer Lingus in a few months--never heard of the airline until I made the reservations. Will be flying Jet Blue into Logan, looking forward to my trip and flying on airlines other than Spirit, Delta or American.
That's excited!! I really enjoyed Aer Lingus and have recommened it to numerous people now. It's a bit of a difference experience, so it'll certainly be a nice change of pace!
Not bad at all. The Jameson looked yummy. 😜
Let’s pour a round right now!!!
haha i know im late but thanks for the vid!
5.8? That flight is gonna suck being a 6.2 Dutchman...
Oh yeah!!! Lol Are most economy flights tough for you? I’d imagine it’d be cramped
@@LincolnintheAdirondacks hey man ! Thanks for the response, good vid !
Mostly it's okay, Lufthansa, China Airlines, Emirates and KLM are some of the more comfortable airliners for tall folks. Keep up the nice work, looking forward to see more aviation videos after the pandemic. Stay safe bro !
Their are 50 of us traveling to ireland and dublin😊
Canadian water in a plastic pudding cup, c'mon Canada is that what we want to be know for ...eh !!!!!
Chocolate Mousse all the way eh.

II love the Asian Vegetrarian Meal for Currries or the Hindu non Vegitarian meal!
You dont haveto wait for drink service....you can ask for a drink anytime.....and you never add coke to whisky
I can do what I want!
Lincoln Riddle Enjoyed your video my friend so not all negative lol 👍
Watford Fc I think the policy of having to pay for alcohol in economy class is changing soon. I believe economy class passengers will get complimentary (limited) use of the WiFi too
I’m half Irish
Pudding cup of water!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lol I had literally never seen that before!!! May never see it again 😂
Lincoln Riddle i see it a lot - I flew United long haul the other week - and they gave me pudding cup water!
