    There’s a brace height measurement for the Excalibur bows. It’s measured from where the rail/riser meet to the string.
    Excalibur has a chart on the website. Or keep the string 1/8-1/4” off the string stops.
    Twist COUNTER clockwise to shorten the string.
    When you achieve proper brace height, put a mark on the side of the rail with a Sharpie marker so you’ll know at a glance if the string has stretched. If it has, adjust accordingly.
    You want to keep it consistent to keep accuracy.

    The mag 340 is a simple, but great crossbow. I love mine and it's easy to maintain. I change the string by using the Charger EXT which makes it so simple, it's pathetic! Thanks for the video

      That’s why we love them. Thanks for the comment and view.

    OMG, do not just string a bow, whether it be a longbow or crossbow, without twisting the string if it is a threaded string which basically all modern strings are. Not only does it determine how much 'snap' your bow delivers into the arrow. It is also essential for the strength of the string and protecting individual strands.

      Thanks for the info.

      @@HawkMeyerOutdoors Hey, always glad to hear that things I say are well received. Hobbies like this are mostly self-taught and a lot of things can 'work' and seemingly for a while. I just like to help prevent any incident before one can happen. A heck of a lot more 'snap' in these recurve crossbows than a longbow. Ya wanna do what you can to stop those strands from fraying especially when the bow has something around ~270lbs of draw weight, vs the ~50-60 in longbows. Otherwise a helpful video though. It probably looked more like I was trying to wrestle a wolverine the first time un-stringing my Mag340.. Needed my younger brother's help for that one.

    Do you have to unstring a recurve crossbow like a traditional recurve when not in use

    Where'd you get your strap and stock pouch? Also I gotta save this video haha

    • @HawkMeyerOutdoors

      The strap is a military surplus GP sling canvas. The stock pouch is a rifle butt pouch. Off of Amazon. Probably the best things I put on it. Holds my cocking string and rail lube. Anymore info just get comment again.

      @@HawkMeyerOutdoors thanks for the reply, yeah all pouches I find are ones with ammo sleeves, not actual pocket pouches like yours. I found this nice Two-Point Paracord Sling with Swivels on amazon... wondering if it would fit and work with the Mag 340

    • @HawkMeyerOutdoors
      @HawkMeyerOutdoors  5 місяців тому +1

      You will need some sling swivels for the sling. I found that rifle butt pouch on Amazon. Check PETAC GEAR buttstock rifle shell holder on Amazon. Very similar to the one I have.

      @@HawkMeyerOutdoors if you could, could you make a like a short video on putting a sling on your mag 340?

      I’ll give it a try. I’ll comment in here when I do.

    Im 56 years old wirh lower back problems . How hard is it to cock this bow using the string cocker and does it put pressure on your lower back or just upper back , shoulders , and arms ?

    • @HawkMeyerOutdoors
      @HawkMeyerOutdoors  8 місяців тому +2

      The bow is moderately hard to cock back. It stores a lot of energy for such a small bow. I Mainly get it in my shoulders. I would look in to cocking aid if it is a issue.

      It is Hard.
      I also own an340 Mag Iam 53 and i wound up straining my lower back two days ago..trying to get it cocked past the ADF.
      I can get it to the ADF easily but that last two inches to the trigger sear.. is a bear. i felt my sacraliliac buckle and that was it for me. USE a crank is my advice..

      Do yourself a favor and buy the Charger EXT. Your back will thank you!

    Somehow unprofessional, difficult, inept. You can see how difficult it is to cock a crossbow and wind the bowstring. In fact, this is done much faster and easier.😢
