Hey man, watched you a bunch 4 or 5 years ago. Been rewatching your stuff recently as I’m getting my son into my old gaming stuff, Legion, Xwing and Destiny. Cool to see another game come out and cool to see you still making content.
Same, rewatching many Videos, came for x-wing, stayed for Legion and Armada and to See a neu Game, what i, for myself, realy Like makes me so Happy about this Channel ❤
Crabbok, I grew up on the Decipher CCG, so I appreciate you doing this review before I consider investing time and money. Thanks for taking the time to do this for us! 👊
A slight reworking of a few key cards from before the Episode one days is all it needed to make the decipher game viable in a historic-style format. It was the only game that was a real contender against MTG (Pokémon and spiky haired card playing kid were never competing with MTG on the elementary school playground.)
Just got back from a pre release and will say I’m sold on the game for it was a great time. I loved it because you got to kinda craft your own crazy star wars story with all the drama of the movies. I will say everyone but me and the owner of the shop were kinda lukewarm about it but I did not know most of them well so I could be wrong. They were all magic people though and I could see instincts conflicting. And their tears were exquisite as I vanquished them in rebellious splendor. We drank raucously afterwards in a Kestro Cantina, a send off we scum deserve, for the imperials are dead and there is no more dread so we take our rest we so rightfully deserve. May the force be with you.
My son and I love your videos. We purchased xWing 2.0 and are learning how to play it. When my son saw the card game he was very excited and wants to try it. Thank you for all of your tutorials and time you put it to help others we appreciate it very much.
I love SW unlimited! Played lots of online games and had my pre release today. It’s such a good time. Your content rocks, I am a legion player, newly trying out armada, and now a big fan of unlimited. Thank you for your awesome content!
The borderless cards in SWU are called “hyperspace” - you can see the star blur pattern around where the border on a standard card would be. So you can have a foil, a hyperspace, a foil hyperspace, or a showcase (the large alternate art mentioned). Pretty cool combinations and variations to build your collection!
As someone who is very excited about this game, I do think concerns about the long-term viability are understandable, considering FFG's history, the history of Star Wars CCGs in general, and even the history of all CCGs. But I think this game is MUCH better positioned than FFG's previous Star Wars card games for a few reasons: 1. LCGs, while a cool idea, were kind of doomed from the start. FFG didn't seem to have a plan for addressing how things would work out long-term, and while the collecting model sounded good for players on the surface, it definitely had its own issues. 2. Destiny was absolutely killed by the dice. Again, it was a cool idea, but simply the logistics of managing a huge collection of unique dice was a massive problem that no other card game has to deal with. 3. FFG seems to be aware of their not-so-great reputation with both players and game stores, and seems to be putting in a ton of effort with this game to show people that they are very committed to the success of this game.
Hey Crabbok, I just want to say thank you! You've inspired me back into Star Wars and I am now all in, my Legion Core Set should be arriving in the next couple of days, and I just wanted to thank you. This looks really cool, and I will definitely consider getting this as well.
I have just found your channel because of Star Wars Unlimited. I didn’t even know this TCG existed until I stumbled upon the prerelease last week. I joined the prerelease and had such an amazing time playing this game! I’m a huge Magic player and I really loved the mechanics of this game. I’m also a huge Star Wars fan - and loved the art work!
I sort of did the same! Bought a pre release kit, a booster box, and the dual decks. Best moment was since I was at a convention and it was the stores last day being there, I bought all them 20 min before they closed, I got an exclusive Luke skywalker judge card, it was awesome!
I played 4 games at our shops release last night and I love it so far. I normally play MTG and Pokemon and this game is very unique from those games which is refreshing. I started out with Erso but switched to darthvader because he was able to deal out consistent damage and pop shields.
I've only played the two player starters that a local game store was letting players test, and I loved it. Does what I love from mtg commander but fixes its resourse problems, and nobody has to sit around and wait for the blue player to finish their turn(s).... If the game can become big on its own merit, I'm guessing it will have to survive Disney when FFG contract expires....
I’m a one piece player, and did a pre-release at my LGS just 1-2 weeks ago and it’s a ton of fun! Just the very steep learning curve at the very beginning is a lot But once you get going, the game picks up very quick and it’s a ton of fun There’s a lot of creativity for how to play it, the color combos give a lot of options, and the play styles have a lot of variety so it fits a lot of people’s styles I love this game so far, and I really hope it grows
Played in two pre releases so far and have a couple boxes on preorder. I have been following this game from its announcement and playing on TTS and Force Table during spoiler season. I am a sucker for all Star Wars card games and have played every one released. But it is evident that FFG has learned valuable lessons from the LCG and Destiny, and taken lessons from the broader TCG market, and I think they have come up with a good, accessible game. I am very much looking forward to how it evolves and hoping for a long, long run on this one!
I played a prerelease event, lost every single match but enjoyed the game very much. A lot of expectations I had had were confirmed over the course of the event - rapid pace, immediate Star Wars flair and luck of the draw being crucial in a sealed format. I proceeded to order even more stuff immediately 😅
My pre-order just shipped and is supposed to be arriving this afternoon. Super keen to give it a go. Grabbed a couple of booster boxes and the two player starter set. Going to keep one of the boxes sealed in case the game takes off as stock is incredibly limited in my region so it'll be a cool collectors piece down the line.
I've been playing a ton of this game on TTS, and honestly love it so far. Super excited to get my hands on everything once it finally releases, already have a decklist I want to build and everything. My only issue right now is the starter deck demos had really thin cards, so I'm worried about the quality and longevity of the cards.
I played over the weekend at my local shop and had a ton of fun. I've been collecting different tcg cards for a while now but this is my first time playing one. It was really easy to pick up and the community here seems to be really good people.
I went to a presale event and only had two days to learn to play when I got to even it was a very fun game experience and lots of people willing to help me learn so by third round player got how to play down. I love it and the collective side of it as well
Have you (or anyone here) had the chance to get your hands on the art sleeves? Are they of good quality? Are the inner sleeves worth it or are they literally useless?
Thanks for covering SWU! I went into the Gen Con demo determined to dislike it and failed miserably. 😂 I had an absolute blast at prerelease and am planning to play each week at our FLGS.
Great game. Love to see more finding it! Love the back and forth and the seperate "lanes". Been playing this game since it came out and playing card games since the early 90s and think this one hit a sweet spot for me. Fun for collecting and playing. Even my holo hyperspace Jawa was fun to pull lol.
I played a sealed deck local tourney and I've been crafting a constructed deck with all the booster packs I won from the tourney including my pre-release pack. I also have the official game box coming which I believe comes with 24 booster packs which i will be splitting with my dad so that I can create some OP constructed decks.
This game was amazing. Nice and fast paced. And very thematic gameplay. I’m doing my second pre release at my local LG’s today. I love that there are many unique variations and alt cards.
Myself and a few of the local Armada guys played in a pre-release yesterday and had a great time with it! There were a few recent MTG guys there that played, but the rest of us either played MTG a long time ago or hadn't played a game like this before.
Just starting the vid. Literally just saw this product yesterday picking up a copy of Clue: Ravnica Edition. I joked that I couldn't get back into another Star Wars games, having played the old one in the late 90s, that had all the decks based around systems/planets. And then the old Attack of the Clones card game. I'm interested in what comes from this game. The guy who ran the card shop seemed pretty optimistic too.
I loved doing the prerelease yesterday, it’s a really fun game! While it is FFGs 3rd Star Wars game, it’s their first without a gimmick. They should have done a TCG from the start in my opinion
I saw some videos about this game and I would prefer a living card game format but I'm still interested in this one. Maybe as a casual buyer. I can't afford to buy a box of boosters every time an expansion comes out.
It's intriguing but I dunno that art (for me) is hideous. Part of what is super appealing to say something like Lorcana is the amazing artwork on the cards. SWU just doesn't do it for me personally.
This is a dangerous time for me, when I will be tempted by Star Wars: Unlimited. But as someone who had Han Solo card sleeves saved for this precise moment, that Han Solo leader art looks so goofy it just might be a dealbreaker. I’ve got Boba Fett sleeves too, though.
I follow for legion content, but covering other things has no impact, so keep doing what you do. I think this game might be ideal for me and my nephews. Xwing and Legion take too much time to set up, as well as being too bulky to store in my new house. Thanks for covering this game in the vid - it's helped convince me to try it
My thoughts on Star Wars Unlimited was I really wanted to partake but currently trying to save money and space due to my already huge collection! I am a huge Star Wars fan so it was exciting news to hear that we finally have one
I am not a big fan of CCGs, like LCG. But this one looks like I will invest in. It's Star Wars (big plus) I like the game play I have seen overall. So yeah.
Love your content! I know you aren’t super into Disney but have you tried Lorcana? Its mechanics are similar and it fixes a lot of your cons with unlimited. Also how the empire can have the dude that turns into reasorce on death but you can't ignore it as they just attack one of your guys killing itself in the process.
I haven’t been able to keep all my games between moving homes now and then, so this might just be the next Star Wars game to get for me! Btw the shots in the vid look great! :)
I haven't played it but it interests me, the issue is I don't see myself getting into it because they have such an iffy track record with ccg games. That said If there are some starter decks I'll definitely give those a shot!
Played in Gamechefs prerelease and I am sold on this game! Love the games playstyle and the action structure really makes it very strategic in gameplay as well as deck building! Hands down one of the best TCGs I’ve played and I’ve been playing these games for going on three decades!
I can only do online card games these days. There are many and they come and go that its hard to get games. People seem to be in and out so fast compared to miniature games. Maybe because it takes so long to build a miniature army so people are more dedicated.
Played a pre release last night as well. It's a fun game however the flow takes a lot to get used to. Not a fan of the initiative system and the aspect/base system can be downright confusing. Coming from other TCG's, this one takes a bit to wrap your head around. I'm still out whether I want to invest or pass on this.
I didn't go to the pre-release but my local used video game shop already had the two player set out along with a booster box and game mats so I picked up the starter and four packs. Pulled an avenger which looks cool. Now to find someone to play with.
I'd never leave you because you review a game. If people do, thats sad for them.
Happens all the time
To me, that shows weak character
You'd never leave him, your married?

Crabbok, I grew up on the Decipher CCG, so I appreciate you doing this review before I consider investing time and money. Thanks for taking the time to do this for us! 👊
Glad I could help!
The Decipher game needs to make a comeback. I freakin’ loved that game. Stuck with it all the way to Death Star II and a few expansions beyond.
A slight reworking of a few key cards from before the Episode one days is all it needed to make the decipher game viable in a historic-style format. It was the only game that was a real contender against MTG (Pokémon and spiky haired card playing kid were never competing with MTG on the elementary school playground.)
I still have 2 foil darth vaders, 2 bb Luke Skywalker and tons and tons of other main characters from the decipher game. I'll never sell it. Love them
@@kyledeckman9128 I still have my Yoda
played in a pre-release event tonight. went 4-2 and won the overall tournament. was a lot of fun, very excited to play a lot more of this.
Just got back from a pre release and will say I’m sold on the game for it was a great time. I loved it because you got to kinda craft your own crazy star wars story with all the drama of the movies. The game was so much fun to figure out and play! I hope they stick around with it, despite their track record at FF
My son and I love your videos. We purchased xWing 2.0 and are learning how to play it. When my son saw the card game he was very excited and wants to try it. Thank you for all of your tutorials and time you put it to help others we appreciate it very much.

Ran into the same problem myself
You are not alone. I started playing last year, but I have found local games and I play with a friend.
As someone who is very excited about this game, I do think concerns about the long-term viability are understandable, considering FFG's history, the history of Star Wars CCGs in general, and even the history of all CCGs. Excited for this game… anxiously awaiting my preorder to arrive, just got shipping confirmation yesterday
great video, been considering jumping in to this but want to see others thoughts first.
I enjoy you channel and am looking forward to your coverage of Unlimited
I pre-ordered the 2 player starter. If nothing else, that 1v1 out of the box experience should be fun. How much I follow it after that, we'll see.

That should tell you something about parent company and their failed card game list

Just bought into this game because of you. My wife is mad at you because it started with Armada, then legion, and now Unlimited 😂
I would love to see someone pick up whatever needs to happen to bring back the old Decipher CCG. That is still my jam.

I played a starter deck game at my FLGS and the Vader deck was really fun. Not positive whether to buy in though, I tend to go overboard with TCGs.
I missed the prerelease the other night but have my boxes preordered so I’m still excited
The corellian freighter is a YT-1000
The token upgrade pack is awesome. I love the tokens ffg made for it
I’ve played 10+ games and really like it, keep the Unlimited content coming
I'm fairly new to tcgs . I bought into lorcana and now this. Haven't played yet but I'm going to be learning this week.

another great video mate

Reminds me of the Wizards of the Coast Star Wars card game regarding the space and ground being separate lanes. I like it!
Pre-release was fun! Wonder how far this product will go
Can’t wait to open boxes and play!
I had a chance to play this at it isn't a bad game, so far the most divisive point is the art, people love it or hate it.
Myself and a few of the local Armada guys played in a pre-release yesterday and had a great time with it! There were a few recent MTG guys there that played, but the rest of us either played MTG a long time ago or hadn't played a game like this before.
I’m not normally a tcg fan, but I like the alternating activations.

nice review and well balanced analysis on who and why you should or shouldn't step in.
This is the first I'm hearing of the game. Looks pretty cool!
I'll never be able to convince any of my friends to play it, but still looks cool.
More swu content please!
Thank you for the video!
Just ordered the starting deck and preorder box!
I love your helmets in the background.
I saw some videos about this game and I would prefer a living card game format but I'm still interested in this one. Maybe as a casual buyer. I can't afford to buy a box of boosters every time an expansion comes out.
just picked up a bunch and couldent be happier with the game play and the looks my lgs is dooing a limited league and im loving it
Just found your channel, great review!
This game looks interesting. Thanks for reviewing it.
Do we know the pull rate of booster boxes yet? (Like you get 1 legendary per box for example)
1 legendary per 8 packs i believe
It's intriguing but I dunno that art (for me) is hideous. Part of what is super appealing to say something like Lorcana is the amazing artwork on the cards. SWU just doesn't do it for me personally.
Yeah, everyone was complaining about the art at my LGS. The older Destiny art was really well done. This new game? Not so much.
Was curious, thanks for the review! Although I'm largely here for Legion, fret not, I'm still subscribed 😜
I just discovered the Twin Sun format and I am pretty excited to do multiplayer game
Great overview, thanks!
Great review of the gameplay and game! I’m still torn whether or not to go down this rabbit hole end up spending a bunch of $ if I end up liking it
I am not a big fan of CCGs, like LCG. But this one looks like I will invest in. It's Star Wars (big plus) I like the game play I have seen overall. So yeah.
Im loving it i pulled a showcase Boba Fett and went 2-2 with him at my prerelease
Played the pre release event at my LGS. Loved the game and can’t wait to play more!
Love your content!
I know you aren’t super into Disney but have you tried Lorcana? Its mechanics are similar and it fixes a lot of your cons with unlimited. Cards can or cannot be used as resources depending on what symbol they have next to the cost. Also decks in Lorcana are much more character focused where characters almost always do stuff when played.
Great explanations!
I played at the pre release, had fun, felt a bit like early magic but I prefer the back and forth 1 action at the time mechanic from this game, it is way less punishing not to be the starting player. Also the energy mechanic allowing you to mitigate the mana screw issue is good. Every match at least had a bit of back and forth.
Played my pre release today and it was awesome. Got a hyperspace legendary too
Played a game of this at Pax unplugged and didn't like how you can't defend your base or if You've got something stronger you can attack that. Also how the empire can have the dude that turns into reasorce on death but you can't ignore it as they just attack one of your guys killing itself in the process.
^this. Unless you got sentinels your base is always at risk. Also don't like the simultaneous damage.
That’s an odd decision on their game design.
I am excited to try it. Can't wait to see more videos
I haven’t been able to keep all my games between moving homes now and then, so this might just be the next Star Wars game to get for me! Btw the shots in the vid look great! :)
Looks fun, I think I might give it a go. Great video .
The kinds and I LOVE IT!!! We played a pre release event. Pulled a legendary mace windu foil hyperspace. And fell in love with the game.
Maybe because it takes so long to build a miniature army so people are more dedicated.
i played it in a Gamecon and we really liked it. We will definitely give it a chance.
TCG are always touch and go for me - thanks for your preview and review.
How do you feel it compares to Ashes? ^_^ That also has the nice back-and-forth.
My SW:U starter arrives the 8th. Just a couple more days.
Thank you for sharing your impressions! I don't think this is a game I'll be getting into, but I was glad to learn a bit about it.
Great info as usual I never got into the star wars card games but this looks like fun...I may give it a shot.
I played a prerelease today for this game. definitely was a fun game.
Played in pre-release, but could only stay for 1 round. It was fun and I'm really excited for the future of this game!
Thanks for the review - played a few games as well. Once more cards come out, it will be better. Looking forward to the multi-player game format.
Will there be a PC version of this?
I didn't go to the pre-release but my local used video game shop already had the two player set out along with a booster box and game mats so I picked up the starter and four packs. Pulled an avenger which looks cool. Now to find someone to play with.
I also went to a prerelease this weekend and had an absolute blast! Love the game
I am still waiting to see how the game does before I decide to buy a deck
Just going to watch and if i have time go and plaay some draft.
