I would listen to the correct pitch, then sing it, then play it flat and come up to it. When you find the pitch, then you have to decide whether you need to push in or pull out your mouthpiece (or whatever tuning apparatus.
sound of band tuning is a real treat for samplers, cause you can get a long single note with a ton of timbre and character - it does wonders, haha!
