I watched someone drive their car into a bollard when parking they got out and did their shopping like it was an every day thing..... The car was covered in dents and scratches and no it wasn't an old person driving it was a man in his 30s.
Old people are the worst in traffic. No clue what's going on, slow, never give way, do not care, do not have the brain capacity to care. Just, dangerous and oblivious to their surroundings
I experienced this in Sweden a few days ago, was on the way home and an old hag, while signalling she wanted out of her parking space she had the responsibility to yield for the traffic and wait for a clear moment - it wasn't clear and I almost hit her, it wasn't 30-40 meters in between but 10-15. If it wasn't for me braking there'd be a hit and insurance companies involved. She not only drove out right in front of me she also made a U-turn. Because I had to suddenly brake all the groceries fell out of their bags. I'm usually understanding and patient with unexpected behaviours as confusion on where to go, hesitation, pre-emptive braking to prevent collisions and so on. But this got to me, still furious about it.
@@Ohem1 Almost the same happened to me with an old hag lol. Cross section, she had to give way, she didnt. Didnt even care too look. If it wasnt for me being reactive enough, I would have smahed into her side. 5-6 feet away from crash. Very annoying, and very frustrating. And this shit happens often.
Their awareness is shocking. You also get them giving way for no reason, dithering at junctions, just generally frustrating and confusing everyone around them. Shouldn't be on the road.
I was taught by Steve Roberts and passed December 2018, gotta say. I don't think many other driving instructors would have been as paitient as he was with me. Either way, we were on the Pegasus roundabout in Dudley and we were in the left lane to go off the roubout when a van came past and nearly went into us. He used the horn for me in that situation. I seem to remember a very simimlar situation happening about 6 months after I passed when I had a dog in the car and my mom and girlfriend in too when this same thing happened. I do wonder whether many people forget how to use roundabouts. Though I do find Cinder bank roundabout also difficault but that's because I cannot make sense of where the lanes go when people change lanes without indication.
Yes have to deal with idiots all the time. A lady just pulled out on me the other day. I had right of way being on a main road. The traffic was crawling at first but then picked up so I accelerated she comes zooming out of a side road. I did blow the horn at her and she had the cheek to look at me like I was in the wrong for honking at her. She made me brake suddenly. The car behind also braked suddenly. U see how that could of ended up. And she'd would of been away down the road.
I’m not sure if they still do it but in school we had compulsory cycling proficiency and if we didn’t own a bike we borrowed on of theirs this is where I learnt the rules
Truck @ 5:45 - it looks like you may have been in his blindspot and due to poor/tight parking, he may not have had the ability to position correctly. Overtake @ 8:50 happened to my son the other day, currently teaching him (so watching your vids), and both of us noted the danger of the car behind overtaking into a blind situation. Advice to the reversing numpty @ 3:50 > Reverse off the main road (advisory ) + it puts you at the front of the car when moving out = better view of oncoming dangers
I’ve been driving a few years now and still enjoy watching your videos as a way to keep improving. I also believe a quick toot of the horn is necessary at times!
Great video Matt I must Admit my heart was racing on most of these especially that young girl on her scooter crossing the road and that Transit van turning into the road where she was crossing and this is a clear reminder why road safety is important and paramount for youngsters and for everyone really as the Highway code does reiterate why road safety is important and paramount and I hope you're safe and well Matt
@13:39 Looks extremely clear to me! Obviously i'm only going on what i can see through the camera but it looks to me that you had LOADS more room to your left but you steer left and then straighten up while you're still partly on the right hand side of the road.
15:54 the most dangerous stupid road in Derby, got people trying to get in each others lanes in a short amount of road space. I ended up avoiding that part and just take a different route cba for crashing
Enjoyed watching this. Its crazy the things you see on the road and I had my fair share of this on Sunday. I've now had 12hrs of lessons and whilst I was on the dual carriage way (first time being on it for quite a while) and a jogger decided to run across the road at the lights even though they was green. I think he may have misjudged how far away we was so I tried to slow down to give him time to get across without stopping but he started panicking whilst running across and looking at me and my instructor so my instructor decided as we got closer to slam on the breaks cos he just wasn't moving quick enough and got annoyed at the jogger as being on a 40mph road and doing that it was horrible to think what could have happened if we had a lorry or something behind us (was so scary for me and caused me to then stall when pulling away as i was so worried). I also had a car jump the lights and again my instructor had to react quickly (I was going slow as just pulled off from the lights to turn left when the car that jumped the lights came from the right of me). That lesson made me feel like rubbish cos I feel like i should have been the one to react to it all not my instructor as I just froze but so greatful I've get an amazing instructor
Great video Matt! One can learn a lot about what not to do while driving and how to avoid possible disasters👍👍. The bus video was really scary😬. Cheers from India 👍
not gonna lie ive been in the 'tagging along' position more than i should have and its the most stupid habit i have on the road, its something i do without thinking and i always cringe after especially if someones stopped and i have to wave thank you to them
Thanks for this video, just yesterday I asked my friend to buy me a dashboard camera to show how drivers behaves in London's streets, I always ask myself how they pass their driving test. And this is one of the reasons I got very scerd when I drive hoping I am not going to experience one of them in my way.
Thanks, yeah dashcams are must these days. It shows that sometimes even the most unexpected happens and validates conversations about risk on lessons etc.
I had to use my horn yesterday on the M27 in Hampshire, I was in lane 2 going up a hill and an Audi TT in lane 3 decided to cut across me. If I hadn’t had braked sharply I would’ve had a nasty accident. I did toot my horn quite a long time (3/4 seconds?), although the horn in my car isn’t the best, it kind of coughs along - I’ve nicknamed it “Donkey”.
Surely the key to this would be better education, in other countries like Finland the driving lessons and tests are throughout an entire year, Admittedly that is mainly due to the extreme in weather conditions but the principal stands that if your instructor is continually repeating that you are not doing X Y or Z naturally it should become second nature to you and ingrained in you so hopefully will do it without thinking about it such as indicating which a lot of people don't do. In Royal Berkshire I have seen an unmarked police car pulling over a marked police car for failing to indicate or show road discipline! Look forward to the next video.
Well I had my first lesson yesterday, and of course an Audi TT saw L plates and decided to zoom past me at about 40 in a 30 past a zebra crossing when I was doing 28... He then flipped us off after beeping at him for having completely no awareness or safety for anyone.
I had a cyclist suddenly indicate a right turn and pull out on me without a shoulder check on a country lane as I was moving over to overtake, his signal was so late I was committed to overtaking, I could only move over more as I knew braking would make steering around him impossible, I thought I was being good giving him a full cars width but as he positioned himself in the middle of the road I missed him by an inch, was frightening, now I slow right down and am very wary of passing as late signals and failure to check behind are common, when I'm on a bike, I'm very wary of traffic as you are vulnerable, many seem oblivious! I think people should be taught shoulder checks when merging or changing lanes, mirrors aren't good enough, overtaking takes time and a transit van can fit in your blind-spot, a quick glance could save yours and someone else's life, be especially wary of bikes and motorbikes filtering!
Also remember sitting next to a friend as we approach a roundabout he says, "Give way to the right!" as he pulls out in front of someone and forces them to slam on the brakes, if it wasn't such a close call I'd have laughed at his stupidity, he looked a bit sheepish after that though!
when I cycle, I keep my eyes peeled and only use the sidewalk where signposted (it's otherwise illegal here) i need a car horn for my bike. i've been jumped like that 7:40 SO MANY TIMES both bike & car.
With the lorry near Sainsburys, I'd have been inclined to wait and let the lorry go or I would have flashed it. If a car had come up behind it and a car had come up behind Matt then there would be nowhere for anyone to reverse to. I know the van should have given way to the main road and we shouldn't have to stop but in terms of planning/awareness we all know that some lorry drivers aren't brilliant. Is this kind of driving too defensive?
I too tend to let lorry's out, its hard enough moving a big truck in town tight gaps and big turning circle ,after all its easy for me to move over get up to speed ,when in a truck dodging round cars that are parked on the main road outside a supper market.
Considering the poster had already stopped to let the BMW turn right I can see why he wouldn't look ahead and let the lorry go too. Poor planning? If he had no intention of helping anybody out why wait and let the BMW turn right. Kind if sending mixed messages so can see why the lorry pulled out when he had a gap.
Highway code says you SHOULD reverse into a driveway, so you can see better to drive out. Had the great car done so he would have seen the bus and stopped (?) on the pavement to allow it to pass. Bus and cycle lanes create the problem as the driver feels pressurised by legislation NOT to be in that lane. But you are allowed minimum necessary use as you are accessing you property. Same with turning right or entering driveway by crossing double white lines. Also spot the 40mph sign it is a repeater so road speed, is a factor for the driver as well. They possibly know you only have seconds to get out of the traffic is on you. By the camera angle it appears that the road goes downhill, so visual distance is limited.
I wouldn't be surprised if the first clip was an attempted robbery/hijacking. Blokes with hoodies up, I assume masks on and jumping out of the passenger and rear doors before the car even stops rolling while the driver remains in the car for a quick getaway.
I'm 99% sure this is still done in primary schools, not compulsory to everyone though only opt in from parents. Bike Wise it was called as far as I remember.
Oh gosh, the girl on the scooter had my heart in my throat! I live near a secondry school and see daily kids messing about by the roads, how something serious hasn't happened round here i don't know
Got a question for you Matt. If I'm turning right into a side road and at the same time someone is wanting to turn right out of that side road, should I let them out before turning in or not? I find this difficult because I always thought the car turning in would have priority, but when I'm waiting to turn out people often flash me to go first.
The car turning from the main road into the side road has priority, however side roads can be very narrow sometimes. If there is a car waiting to turn out from a side road it's sometimes easier to let them out first as you then won't have to drive around them ( there could be parked cars blocking your progress if the other car is still waiting at the junction etc. think like a meeting situation). Ultimately if you're the car turning from the main road into the side road it would be up to your judgement whether it would be easier to go around them, or stop on the main road to let them out. Another reason you might let them out first is because it's always nice to be nice, like letting people out of side roads in slow moving traffic, you have right of way but the poor guy/girl could be waiting an eternity if nobody in the neverending stream of traffic lets them out.
With the mirror collision its clear that you (or the learner) steer to the right to straighten up too soon (where you paused the clip) - preventable but clearly both at fault, as risk increases speed needs to decrease
To be fair to the kid in the corsa on the roundabout maybe should've give way but you turning right and he was going straight on so wasnt crossing your path
It boils my piss at times. I’m an instructor in Hertfordshire and some of them need more than polite exchanges of words. The next time it happens pass on a card... they obviously need a few refresher lessons
Hello again, I thought it might be you but wanted to be sure. I know what to look for next time. What's your name? We were recording a mock test. He's put his test back now. You'll get chance to see in the coming weeks. Few serious etc. Congratulations to you and pupil, great job 👍👍. Matt
Go2 Driving School ohhh I might see my car in the background when I watch it!! 😂😂 My name is Tasneem, I have contacted u previously when I was looking to do the instructor course :)
Hi Tasneem, you might do. Might get the waves in, very friendly indeed. Ah that's interesting regarding training. How long have you been an adi with Acclaim?
With the sounding the horn debate, in Europe it's very common for people to use the horn to warn people. It's just British politeness that makes us hesitant to use it.
I had to use my horn twice this week, it depends on the situation. Horn 1: Behind car at traffic light, turns green. Car not paying attention. Do a double tap on horn. Got his attention and moved on. Horn 2: I am in far lane. Lorry next to me, slight in front. Flicks his indicator straight on and comes into my lane. His trailer almost clip my car. Did a very long "WTF ARE YOU BLIND M8?!?!?!?" horn. I am from Britain as well.
Well the parents buying their children electric scooters aren't teaching them road knowledge, only a matter of time until a child gets run over on one, and that parent blames the driver for their child and their own negligence
9:44 unbelievable. Stupidity. I don't get the logic. I mean we were once all learners and had our insecurities along the journey from provisional to full licence. Gotta have patience, gotta understand that learners pay for lessons, pay to get things right. When people do stupid things like that it only makes learners feel like they aren't allowed to make mistakes. hence missing out on learning few things they wouldn't have learned, hadn't it been for their mistakes. When it's safe to overtake a learner, do so. If not be patient and drive safely. Idiots do this just to end up at the traffic light looking stupid and won't even turn their heads because they're ashamed.
That cyclist diving out of the junction, will get a taste of rolling over a cars bonnet one day. I know that from experience, I was 10 (28 years ago) and thought the junction was clear as my mate pulled out and a car, I got hit at about 30mph, bullseyed the windscreen, rolled over the vehicle and woke up 50-60 yards down the road on the opposite side. I shocked the entire hospital as I didn't have a single broken bone thankfully. I broke my cousin's frame in half, only had a graze on each hand and knees. I did some work for the poor driver to help make up for being a little idiot, and did work round my estate to help buy my cousin a new bike.
The car that reversed off the drive, would have been better and safer to reverse onto the drive, especially where there is a bus lane and/or main road. There are a minority of drivers who forget they were once a learner or have they and become very impatient of learners. The traffic calming situation, as far as I could see, although it wasn’t your right of way, you were already committed before the other car appeared, so the oncoming car should allow you to finish. Also you mentioned tagging on as regards the cars passing the bus. In the town I live in we have a number of traffic calming situations, were drivers tag on to the vehicle in front when it’s not there right of way, causing near misses and sometimes accidents. As well as mini roundabouts were they fail to give way to the right. Before Covid-19, driving in the U.K. wasn’t the best, but I feel it has become dramatically worse. Has Covid affected some of their brains?
Days gunna come when all dashcam footage is connected to a national insurance network were drivers are penalised or insurance nullified bad drivers would disappear we all make mistakes but ego maniacs need sorting
That bmw pulling out of drive way in front of a bus.. why don't these people reverse into their driveway, so when they pull out they have a clearer view. Makes life easier
You really don't want to know what I think of those moronic kids blindly ambling into a junction, being 1 that was always looking round myself, & still do to this day, looking looking looking safe. It's unfathomable in my mind to ever be so unconscious of the world around, but I have ADHD, not that means anyting, I know of a few people also with it who don't have my vigilance but certainly not blind to road users actions
I'm not gonna pretend to be the perfect driver for i myself have done risky things on the road before but some people are just nuts!! I mean you have to understand that this is not just your life you're risking here. People need to be more responsible.
I think a lot of these may be down to the L plates. I think other drivers get annoyed, not so much with the speed, but with some of the erratic driving that you will have with a learner, learning clutch control, gears and road positioning, obviously completely forgetting they were a learner once! As for the biker in shorts and t-shirt on a motorway!!!!! Good grief, you come off the bike at any speed, let alone motorway speed and you will lose a lot of skin and that is not withstanding the idiot undertake (and also getting hit by debris flicked up off another vehicle).
Good you didn't take me when I over took a car in 60mph she was going 40mph when I try to over take she speed My husband failed me for that last Saturday
I drove taxis in Nuneaton for 35 years.. I've seen some crazy stupid idiots out there... alot of taxi and uber drivers included.. I'm glad I've quit.. not worth the stress
I was on the motorway (2 lanes) the road was completely clear behind me. Someone decided to overtake me and then proceed to cut me up to take his exit I was going past at the time. People seem to drive dangerously just for the sake of it these days😒 Someone also turned right from the left lane of the roundabout, I could see they were going to do it so I slowed down to avoid a collision, it's amazing how some people are legally on the road. I passed my test 5 years ago and the things I have seen is ridiculous.
Typical driver, he sees one bad cyclist so all cyclists are bad. I've lost count of the number of times drivers have pulled out on me which is much more dangerous.

Hahahah I'm so glad you used that Inbetweeners clip. that's the first thing I thought of!
I love it!
When I was a kid meany years ago we had a cycling profincy test do they still do this
I'm 99% sure this is still done in primary schools, not compulsory to everyone though only opt in from parents.
@@andrewlim3842 All very true thanks mate. I think it's just developing the judgement and confidence to do the right thing. I'm getting there though.
Hey Matt, did u recognise me in the lay-by today lol?
Was waiting to go to the test centre, she got a pass with 3 driving faults :)
My name is Tasneem, I have contacted u previously when I was looking to do the instructor course :)
You might do. Might get the waves in, very friendly indeed. Ah that's interesting regarding training. How long have you been an adi with Acclaim?

Go2 Driving School since July 2019 :)
Had my mock today, kicking myself had 7 minors but one serious :-(
Sorry to hear. Just work on fixing it and you'll be fine
Is it not illegal to reverse on to a main road? It was when I took my test.
It's inadvisable for sure. If you're gonna do something illegal, do it safely.
H. Young Transport are a nightmare. I live near to there depo and their drivers have no care in the world for any other road users !!
Ive got my driving test tomorrow
Good luck
Go2 Driving School passed it 👍🏼
CONGRATULATIONS!!
12:50 If you look closely, you can see the driver actually moving closer to the center of the road. Looks like aggressive driving!
Well the parents buying their children electric scooters aren't teaching them road knowledge, only a matter of time until a child gets run over on one, and that parent blames the driver for their child and their own negligence
I find the horn causes road rage
I did some work for the poor driver to help make up for being a little idiot, and did work round my estate to help buy my cousin a new bike.
had a motorbike for 7 years and ive seen everything.
5:18 as a biker i use my engine instead because it is a lot more satisfying when a pedestrian doesn't bother to even look
What's in the cage?
it's where I keep all the bad learners lol
I was going to ask the same thing LOL 😂
It's on the community link.. It's a tortoise
@@Go2DrivingSchool You must be a good teacher, I don't see many people in the cage.
Don't reverse onto a major road!! 😱😱
Great video it’s shows the total lack of respect for anything anyone, peoples attitude when they get into a vehicle is starting to border on crazy .
You really don't want to know what I think of those moronic kids blindly ambling into a junction, being 1 that was always looking round myself, & still do to this day, looking looking looking safe.
It's unfathomable in my mind to ever be so unconscious of the world around, but I have ADHD, not that means anyting, I know of a few people also with it who don't have my vigilance but certainly not blind to road users actions
if you watch the peugeot clip again, he swerves toward you
HGV driver must have seen you...
Not like he had a reason to bully you into stopping he still had no we're to go regardless..
The cyclist may not know the highway code.
Lad
i wanna know what you've got in the cage, bird?
I was on the motorway (2 lanes) the road was completely clear behind me. Someone decided to overtake me and then proceed to cut me up to take his exit I was going past at the time. People seem to drive dangerously just for the sake of it these days😒
Someone also turned right from the left lane of the roundabout, I could see they were going to do it so I slowed down to avoid a collision, it's amazing how some people are legally on the road. I passed my test 5 years ago and the things I have seen is ridiculous.
Never mind covid, watch out for the clowns.
Normo just no rules apply
Typical driver, he sees one bad cyclist so all cyclists are bad. I've lost count of the number of times drivers have pulled out on me which is much more dangerous.
jupp
to many selfish people on the the roads , always in a hurry to know where.
