Immense amount of respect for Drift0r honestly, he's humble, able to look at many different points in an argument, appreciative of what he has, all around a good human being striving to be the best he can be. Love his philosophical videos. Good work Drift0r!

The guy literally came to his house with a weapon, the guy got arrested, and they still called him delusional. Drift lost a lot of subs and viewers because of the incident.

Hey Driftor, I’m a long time lurker and I literally never comment on videos, but you struck a cord with me on this one. I’m currently at LSU pursuing chemistry (previously ChemE), and sometimes I get lost thinking about my future. I worry about not having opportunities in my chosen field and then feeling like a failure. While I don’t necessarily desire becoming a UA-camr, seeing someone with the mental capacity to earn degrees in engineering succeed in an unrelated field is reassuring to me. I’m sure there are others like me that watch you, so thank you
I’m graduating as a mechanical engineer in May and glad to see that you are humble enough to admit that you are rusty. Engineers can tend to be elitists who are never wrong.

I always enjoy hearing Drift0r's thoughts philosophical and political, even if I don't really agree. Some people just need to learn about tolerance and patience.
I’m 18 now and I started watching driftors videos when I first got into gaming about 6 years ago. Came for the cod content but stuck around for the philosophical commentaries. Driftor got me into philosophy and had a pretty big impact on me growing older. I always appreciated and admired how he would go about attacking arguments and just being so mature, educated, thorough, and informed with whatever he posts or says. Much love to this man for showing me that when I didn’t get it from anywhere else

I love candid episodes like this because, I feel, it gives me more insight about you as a person as well as helps to make you more than just “that COD stats guy”. Keep doing you.
If you value mental health don't buy Black Ops Cold War. Playing these new CoD games (i.e. Modern Warfare) just gets my blood pressure going. Gone are the days when you can come back from a long day of work and play some casual pubs. Now every game you join you'll get matched up with some kid who plays 12 hours a day, snorts gFuel, and bunny hops in every gun fight like his life depended on it. I miss playing FUN games and not this eSport crap that every company is pushing.
I was exactly like that, then I smoked a bowl before a search game then never played CoD sober again. When you don't care and your ability is reduced by 50%, for some reason it gets way more fun.

I'm gonna lay it to you straight chief. I haven't played a COD game since I was 14. I haven't had the faintest desire to for over a decade now, but I've kept you subbed because you were someone who was willing to talk about addiction and familial abuse, your nightmares, philosophical positions, and articulate them in a collected fashion at a time when most of youtube was still just shitposts and 9/11 conspiracies; and I look back on those times fondly and am thankful for the positivity and introspection you put out into the world for others to find and make use of. especially at a time when I personally needed such guidance the most. That’s why you are my fav creator! Love how you open your viewer’s eyes for sensitive topics. This is a relief, hence a lot of the gaming community is so much toxic and full of bigotry. You da real MVP ❤️
The discussion around 25:30 is quite interesting. The idea of motivating yourself from a sense of responsibility for those around you is both related to traditional norms of masculinity, but it’s also a key idea in communal society (Marxist thought). This is one of the aspects of traditional masculinity that I, personally, don’t think we need to throw out with the bath water. We as people should try to help those around us; it shouldn’t be an explicitly male thing of course, but it needs men. This sense of community is partially in opposition to the traditional rugged individualism of masculinity, so I think a path forward is a synthesis of these ideas into the importance of community, gender aside, while also not defining manhood as dependent on such a singular measure.
You're right, I don't leave enough positive comments on your videos. I have been watching you since black ops 2 and love your videos. Please keep up the great work!!!
Thanks for the video Drift0r. I'm in college right now and I think my situation mirrors yours quite a bit, I'm not too sure I want to be doing current and voltage analysis, or frequency response analysis in circuits. It's all terribly uninteresting.
I’d push back against the definition of toxic masculinity used. That sense of duty and responsibility to your family is the good part of masculinity. Toxicity comes when it isn’t benefitting anyone. If you were telling your wife that she cannot work and has to sit at home and clean (something I don’t think you do from watching you since BO2), then that would be toxic. Masculinity is required in a society (toxic even because we need to know hell is there waiting should we fail), and I’m afraid our tendency lately to label any kind as bad is going to hurt more people then help. Your desire to provide for and protect your family is the model kids should be seeing.
So much respect for Driftor. One of few youtubers (especially in gaming space) that actually operate with integrity and self-respect, unlike all the other click-baiting idiots. Love that he acknowledges mental health (even tho its a difficult topic) as I think it’s a huge issue in the gaming community. Too many games devs don’t take enough responsibility for how damaging their games and practices are to the mental health of their users (young & old)!
Thanks for this upload! I see a bit of my same sentiments in the comments, but I'm personally a huge fan of your philosophical and political videos.
