- Two Day National Seminar on NATION, BODY AND PERFORMANCE organized by the Department of English, Sree Neelakanta Govt. Sanskrit College, Pattambi.
This is the speech delivered by Sunny M Kapikkad at Sree Neelakanta Govt. Sanskrit College, Pattambi on 13 January 2017 as part of the two day National seminar organized by the Dept. Of English. Through this seminar its organizers were trying to address the problems of the concept of the ‘homogenous national body’. The seminar addressed the issues of marginality by bringing into debate the issues of the dalit and the female body.
The Programme was inaugurated by Mx. Vijayarajamallika (Poet& Transgender Activist), Keynote address was by Prof. A.K Ramakrishnan(School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi).
The interdisciplinary programme was sponsored by the Directorate of Collegiate Education, Govt. of Kerala and was organized by Sivasankar S. (Assistant Professor of English) and Seeja H. (Head of the Department of English).

ബുദ്ധ മതത്തെയും ഗോത്രസമൂഹങ്ങളെയും തീണ്ടൽ ജാതിയാക്കുകയും അവർ നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകൾ കൊണ്ട് രൂപീകരിച്ച തത്വചിന്തകളൂം,ഗണിത ശാസ്ത്ര ഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങളും ആയുർവേദ ഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങളേയും ബ്രാഹ്മണർ നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകൾ കൊണ്ട് ബ്രാഹ്മണർ സംസ്ക്ര്ത ഭാഷയിലേക്ക് കോപിയടിച്ച് അവയെ വേദങ്ങളെന്നും ഉപനിഷത്തുകളെന്നും വിളിച്ചു. ഗോത്ര ബുദ്ധ ജനങ്ങളെ അയിത്ത വിഭാഗമാക്കി മാറ്റുകയും ഇവരുടെ കേന്ദ്രം ബ്രാഹ്മണക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളാക്കി മാറ്റി ഗോത്ര ബുദ്ധ ജന വിഭാഗങ്ങൾക്ക് സംഘടിക്കാനുള്ള സാഹചര്യവും ഇല്ലാതാക്കി നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകൾ കൊണ്ട് ഘട്ടം ഘട്ടമായാണ് ജാതി വ്യവസ്ഥ രൂപപ്പെടുത്തിയത്.

സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തിനു ശേഷവും 60 കൊല്ലം ഈ രാജ്യം ഭരിച്ചിരുന്നത് ഒരു കാശ്മീരി ബ്രാഹ്മണ കുഡുബം ആയിരുന്നു.

Is it an over estimation of the problems? Whatever laws or policies we make unless the moral values of the people change, the effects won't be drastic. As you said the caste system won't reappear for sure. Untouchability and discrimination are social evils. The ever correcting moral values will throw them into garbage sooner than later like what it did for slavery and apartheid. We keep on enlightening the people. The more sincere and effective we did the faster the results. Good luck.
