I knew it would come off that way, I only opened ~70 packs, I just wanted to point out that duplicates (esp. of legendaries) give you a lot of dust. I only got one legendary that I even want to play, the Shaman quest. I honestly wish I had gotten cards that I wouldn't play than duplicates, so I could play more decks, because right now I can basically only play shaman and mage.
Burgly Bully is so good in this deck. On average you're guaranteed at least one spell for them to remove it. It's especially good against Rogues running the bounce combo, they pretty much give you all the spells you need to clear the quest.
In that case though, you would most likely have to cut the Acolytes, Intellects, Kappas, or something else like that. Would be too risky otherwise. If they overdraw your good cards or combo pieces, you're going to be in some deep shit.
nah works against the win condition. against most decks they will just kill it with minions alone. if you've played freeze before you encounter a lot of large boards of minions and are just hoping to stall them. opponents would never cast spells to clear burgly even if it's quest rogue that's just 1 matchup
Moss Bros pirate warrior still lives rogue is just as aggressive and shaman stone still exists. Literally nothing has changed except for rogue. other classes and builds now are slightly more competitive but it's still the same.
I honestly think people are being driven to pirate warrior as it's the only deck that can beat rogues before turn 7, after they get infinite 5/5s they're almost impossible to beat
The Quest Shaman deck I've been using can just about outpace them. Would probably be able to do it fairly consistently if I could be bothered to refine the deck.
I'm pretty sad to not see ANY comments about that glorious next level play at 18:50. That's the kind of plays we'll see sweeping the meta. (not actually but it was incredibly hilarious)
if you dont know which cards came from cabalist tome, hover over the quest, and cards in your hand that didnt start will not be black and white. (or vise versa can't remember honestly)
laughed at that last game though. Trump going in: "I have no idea how this matchup plays" Trump ending the game: "I have no idea how this matchup plays."
Here are the cards that trump rated low but ended up being good. Mysterious Challenger. Darkshire Councilman. The Cavern's Below. Darkshire Councilman pretty much rekt trump the most for underestimating it.
yeah, both dr. boom and mysterious challenger ended up being cards that dominated the meta for months tho so its hard to tell which one was underestimated the most
EVERYONE underestimated Doctor Boom, and to be honest their logic was fair. "It's like War Golem but with two 1/1s that will do, on average, around 2 damage to a random target. Not good enough." People just didn't realize the power of RNG...
August Nyberg i think so too, however it's hard to make exodia mage work against ridiculous aggro like pirate warrior and quest rogue because of clunky cards like molten reflection. But exodia version is much better against all control decks like taunt warrior, plantlock, quest priest, etc. because it gets around armor and taunts.
Idd giants version might be better against pirate warrior... But how do you actually win against armor and taunts? Almost every other class has either of the 2 and he only won that last game because he got random burn spells and the opponents last card was antonidas.
I tried both exodia and giant, and i must say, giant is better. it gives much more protection on board, and you could easly win even without alexandra in your second free tourn if you deal enough damage. I played a lot of games with exodia mage, and it depends too much on drawing the right cards... if you dont find for exemple an apprendice or archmage in time, you will easly be killed, even with all your ice blocks.
That's exactly his point. He said it might be a well constructed deck, but with a limited card pool. Effectively making it a worse version of the "optimal" deck, but still the best he could have constructed using the resources available to him.
Seems like he's toned down the sponsored content - wonder if he knew it was getting to be a bit much or if it has something to do with switching streamer gangs to TS.
exodus version pretty much guarantees a win against fellow slow decks but further sets the gap between it and fast paced decks and gets beat. I like giants version because I find that it has a reasonable chance against all types
So which version you think its more efficient, the one with the Giants or the Exodia combo? Exodia is a guaranteed kill but you need 5 cards in your deck that are specificaly for the combo plus one extra spell to trigger the combo. That means 5 less removals and cards that ll help you make it to late game. Combo cards in your hand are dead cards, until you collect all pieces. Giants on the other hand are only 2 cards and they can be used just as big minions if the game demands it. Alex also can be used for healing. Not sure which deck is better in the current meta though, just collecting opinions and watching maches.
I want to build a good Mage deck with which i can climb the ladder a bit. Bus as I am new I have not so much dust and am unsure what cards to craft. Is there any good meta deck list for a mage deck in the new patch?
This is pretty much the same as my time-warp mage, only difference is that it runs tons of discovery synergy and it runs molten giants as well as arcane giant.
For anyone ragin at the quest, Druid could basically do the same with Aviana + Kun combo.Though minions can't attack, but hey, 1 mana Malygos or C'thun is pretty sweet
I'd say that the exodia version *is* better because you don't actually need to get time warp, you can just get 4 apprentices out, play both tomes, all the cards from them (assuming they're 4 or less costing.) and still have enough mana for the time warp. Point is, exodia is "if you draw your whole deck, you win." and arcane giant is "If you draw the vast majority of your deck, they don't have a taunt up, AND you took an extra turn or two to get time warp you win."
Joshua Hirt They will never Come back to Standard Once They rotate out. But Wild is fun to play, and a Heavily underrated format. I wouldnt dissenchant it
Have 4500 dust right now, just wanna have your guys opinion as to what's the best deck to craft right now, or should I wait until the metta settles down?
Sooo I have a golden king mosh that I'm running in my warrior quest deck, should I disenchant it and craft a ozruk, since I love playing elemental shaman and mage and I already have pyros and kalimos? Should I craft a different legendary? Should I even disenchant the golden king mosh?
All of the meta decks seem to require at least one legendary now (not just quests, also pirate warrior and jade), like you can't even do a sub-optimal version of the deck where you replace the legendary with a more accessible card. Not fun for people who don't want to spend loads of money on packs
I find adding hemet jungle hunter and playing him after you're done the quest allows you to draw your combo pieces really fast. he's a better legendary than people give him credit for
So, the probability to have the quest in the starting hand is 100%? I've never played against a quest deck without the opponent casting it in the first turn
I'm about 50% win rate with a version of Trump's Plantlock against various quest decks. Quests are only slightly more creative than C'thun. It looks like it will be quests versus aggro for a while. The true challenge it to craft a good non-aggro, anti-quest deck.
I think the "exodia" version of this deck with apprentices, molten reflections, and Antonidas is better. Not because it has "infinite damage" but because the apprentices and molten reflections make it much easier to complete your quest the same turn you cast it. So you don't have to pay a fair manacost for a bunch of random mage spells before you can combo people, you just cast your spells as part of your combo and you cast them for 4 mana cheaper(pretty much free in most cases).
So yesterday I introduced my mom to hearthstone. I thought was fine until she woke me up at 2:00 AM screaming about hkw her arcane missles hit Mukla's face 3 times and missed the silverback patriarch in the tutorial.
The new quests have driven everyone to outpace each other before the other deck gets the advantage. I'm not sure how i feel about how the meta will evolve from this standpoint
He didn't make very good predictions this time around but to be fair 1) who cares 2) nothing is at stake 3) it's better than just hedging on every single card so as to appear not wrong
To be fair, it seems like the first few games, Open the Waygate is actually making the deck worse. He is just playing freeze mage, but has to add bad cards to his deck to enable the combo.
I personally play the Sorcerer's Apprentice + Molten Reflection + Antonidas version of this deck. Unreliable, bad, lots of losses but extremely fun to play.
"This is our turn scrub!"
"Yeah, wait for it!"
Dalkian :|
Just a casual 2000 dust from disenchanting extra cards...
I had almost 4k, it really adds up when you get lots of dupes.
i have over 14 000
Alright anyone else going to show off here?
I knew it would come off that way, I only opened ~70 packs, I just wanted to point out that duplicates (esp. of legendaries) give you a lot of dust. I only got one legendary that I even want to play, the Shaman quest. I honestly wish I had gotten cards that I wouldn't play than duplicates, so I could play more decks, because right now I can basically only play shaman and mage.
I got 10,200 from all golden hall of fame classics, and I'm completely free to play. Don't even play that often. Fight me bro.

Let's slow down the meta...
Rogue has permanent 5/5 minions by turn 5...
Moss Bros pirate warrior still lives rogue is just as aggressive and shaman stone still exists. Literally nothing has changed except for rogue. other classes and builds now are slightly more competitive but it's still the same.
reno decks are gone, hunter is more viable, and priest is unplayable... some things has changed
I honestly think people are being driven to pirate warrior as it's the only deck that can beat rogues before turn 7, after they get infinite 5/5s they're almost impossible to beat
how about the new deathrattle priest? He looked pretty ok.
The Quest Shaman deck I've been using can just about outpace them. Would probably be able to do it fairly consistently if I could be bothered to refine the deck.
new otk-mage looks very fun and interactive to play against.
I like the way Blizz thinks !
*jumps out of window*
Crap, I live on the ground floor.
FangedBeauty oh please, its way easier to beat and harder to play than the raw talent that is required for pirate warrior and quest rogue...
Use the shards of glass, it is faster than finding another building.
I like the way you think as well!
i love how people complain about otk decks being uninteractive when aggro decks that kill you on turn 5 exist
Aggro at least gives you stuff to try to kill.

I love watching Trump's videos because sometimes the editing is so good. It's unbelieveable sometimes.
I'm pretty sad to not see ANY comments about that glorious next level play at 18:50.
That's the kind of plays we'll see sweeping the meta. (not actually but it was incredibly hilarious)
18:50 never have i seen someone get milled so quickly.
ignoring the fact they did it to themselves.
Richard Hahn I laughed so hard when he did it XD
its a combo hunter deck i think i saw someone use it
you can deal 20 damage in one turn with tundra rhino hit face with raptor
Only if you already have a board or are holding the coin. Rhino is 5 mana, so you can play 5 3/2 along with it, for a total of 17 damage.
Richard Hahn i laughed so hard but then realized it was a pretty great play
The fuckup witch Crystal Core was the funniest thing I saw today. = )
lol, and then I saw last card Antonidas.
25:17 was the funnyest thing I ever saw in a Hearthstone game :D great editing jens!
probably one of my favorite edits throughout the whole video
if you dont know which cards came from cabalist tome, hover over the quest, and cards in your hand that didnt start will not be black and white. (or vise versa can't remember honestly)
Love the editing.
25:19 That one was ON POINT!! LMFAO
Amiramduby oh man that was funny lol dat rouge definitely knows wut shes doing
laughed at that last game though.
Trump going in: "I have no idea how this matchup plays"
Trump ending the game: "I have no idea how this matchup plays."
Here are the cards that trump rated low but ended up being good.
Mysterious Challenger.
Darkshire Councilman.
The Cavern's Below.
Darkshire Councilman pretty much rekt trump the most for underestimating it.
Too soon to call Cavern's Below a good card.
Don't forget the worst mistake of all, Dr.Boom.
dragon777man and dont forget imp gangboss and flamewaker! Predicting upcoming cards seems like impossible to me though...
yeah, both dr. boom and mysterious challenger ended up being cards that dominated the meta for months tho so its hard to tell which one was underestimated the most
EVERYONE underestimated Doctor Boom, and to be honest their logic was fair. "It's like War Golem but with two 1/1s that will do, on average, around 2 damage to a random target. Not good enough." People just didn't realize the power of RNG...
"A jump to the left, and a step to the right." This is why I love the Blizzteam.
NeXus I think of that line EVERY. DAMN. TIME. I hear the words "time warp".
NeXus Let's do the time warp again!!
That was a really neat reference :3
Firehusary The Rocky Horror show :)
Now put your hands on your hips
23:40 MEGUMIM
EXHUPLOHJHUN!

JENS STAHP WITH THE THUMBNAILS IM DONE 🔥🔥😂😂👌🏻👌🏻
When you mouse over a quest in progress it will highlight cards for that quest (in that case cards that are not from your deck)
This explains all my recent matchups today.
in my opinion exodia is better than giants
August Nyberg i think so too, however it's hard to make exodia mage work against ridiculous aggro like pirate warrior and quest rogue because of clunky cards like molten reflection. But exodia version is much better against all control decks like taunt warrior, plantlock, quest priest, etc. because it gets around armor and taunts.
+Patchy aggro decks are more belanced than otk decks btw
finally someone understands exodia mage will be never good until aggro rotates out every combo /OTK deck is weak against aggro.
Idd giants version might be better against pirate warrior... But how do you actually win against armor and taunts? Almost every other class has either of the 2 and he only won that last game because he got random burn spells and the opponents last card was antonidas.
I tried both exodia and giant, and i must say, giant is better.

I played a lot of games with exodia mage, and it depends too much on drawing the right cards... if you dont find for exemple an apprendice or archmage in time, you will easly be killed, even with all your ice blocks.
Its astounding, time is fleeting. Madness takes its toll...
Is it bad that when I saw "Star POWA" I immediately thought of Star Platinum and Jotaro shouting "STANDO POWAH"
Value went out the window that last game.
Jens you are top notch editor
Kinda not fair to assume its poorly constructed. Not everybody has all cards. Sometimes you have to pick what you actually own.
Chamaeleonx It's still a worse version of the deck aka poorly constructed.
That's exactly his point. He said it might be a well constructed deck, but with a limited card pool. Effectively making it a worse version of the "optimal" deck, but still the best he could have constructed using the resources available to him.
Trump's not very limited on the decks he can make.
Well, you could still call that "poorly constructed", just not because of incompetence.
That last deck really showed what hearthstone is all about. It was a battle of attrition, each side being smart about they're own moves
I'm pretty sure that last game shorted out Trump -- great games! I will have to give this deck a whirl
what is the overlay thing that you are using? The list on the right that shows which cards you draw and whatnot...
Hey what happened to Oligarchy/Prison Trump type fun stuff?
Dunno. I love Trump but he's been phoning it in for like a year as far as 'fun and interactive' streams go.
Seems like he's toned down the sponsored content - wonder if he knew it was getting to be a bit much or if it has something to do with switching streamer gangs to TS.
Well given he has no job he's not going to say no to free money anytime soon.
Prison Trump only gets out of Blizzard jail on Halloween.
Has no job? He's one of the more popular streamers out there. That pays a fair amount already.
What show/film was the original footage from 25:20 from?
Vicious Fledgling is by far my favourite card of the expansion, having a blast with the card
exodus version pretty much guarantees a win against fellow slow decks but further sets the gap between it and fast paced decks and gets beat. I like giants version because I find that it has a reasonable chance against all types
exodia
Finally! I was waiting for someone to make a Rocky Horror joke! It seemed so obvious, why nobody else thought of that?
So which version you think its more efficient, the one with the Giants or the Exodia combo?
Exodia is a guaranteed kill but you need 5 cards in your deck that are specificaly for the combo plus one extra spell to trigger the combo. That means 5 less removals and cards that ll help you make it to late game.
Combo cards in your hand are dead cards, until you collect all pieces.
Giants on the other hand are only 2 cards and they can be used just as big minions if the game demands it. Alex also can be used for healing.
Not sure which deck is better in the current meta though, just collecting opinions and watching maches.
Alex Val imo I think giants is more consistent because it frees up deck slots a bit and varied win cons. so less all in on a grand finale.
Primordial into primordial will get less likely as new mage spells are introduced. Just a thought about meta discover cards
"The first time you do it feels so satisfying" -- Trump, 2017
This thumbnail is hillarious, nice job jens :D
18:50 I laughed so hard, thanks Jens.
have you considered bully? the coins don't start in your deck and often allows you to combo 1 turn earlier.
23:25 Tarcreaper does belong in that deck if you think about how weak quest rogue is against heavy aggro, pirate Warrior wins consistently against it.
I want to build a good Mage deck with which i can climb the ladder a bit. Bus as I am new I have not so much dust and am unsure what cards to craft. Is there any good meta deck list for a mage deck in the new patch?
It's fun and interactive. Once again.
This is pretty much the same as my time-warp mage, only difference is that it runs tons of discovery synergy and it runs molten giants as well as arcane giant.
The Exodia version of TTK quest is surprisingly more consistent. Its at least better vs warriors cause you can ignore armor.
Is there a replacement for Medivh's vallet?
Jai Hummel frost bolt
Jai Hummel don't use this version of the deck, it's trash.
Unit Lost Can you give me the optimal decklist then? I prefer giants Alex to exodia style.
Jai Hummel use frostbolts in place of the valets
Jaina's purse.
That Hemet animation is so brutal.
Fun and interactive
FML just realized open the waygate's flavor text is a rocky horror picture show reference
1:04
Cute Rocky Horror Picture Show nod
My lungs had a break down on 18:40. I'm fucking broken because of that damn zoom in and how he lost his entire fucking deck.
Will the other expansions like GvG come back for standart or can I disenchant all these cards.
Joshua Hirt They will never Come back to Standard Once They rotate out. But Wild is fun to play, and a Heavily underrated format. I wouldnt dissenchant it
If it's sharp enough, one star is all it takes.
What deck program is Trump using? Like the thing showing his cards in the deck and whatnot
Hearthstone deck tracker
Hey trump do u rember wen u sed time warp, meteor and glyph wer a 2 star cards?????????????
Freeze mage vs quest mage, which is better in Wild? Freeze mage doesn't work very well in standard anymore...
Have 4500 dust right now, just wanna have your guys opinion as to what's the best deck to craft right now, or should I wait until the metta settles down?
Nico Grimaldi Wait about a month and just hope you can still work with what you have. Metas shift way to much in the early days.
generaly the best decks are figured out after a month or so. After that happens feel free to copy any tier 1 deck you like.
Sooo I have a golden king mosh that I'm running in my warrior quest deck, should I disenchant it and craft a ozruk, since I love playing elemental shaman and mage and I already have pyros and kalimos? Should I craft a different legendary? Should I even disenchant the golden king mosh?
Teledildonic Overlord Ozruk isn't very good :/
Lorok Helltap Whale then what do you recommend?
that hemet play is genius.
All of the meta decks seem to require at least one legendary now (not just quests, also pirate warrior and jade), like you can't even do a sub-optimal version of the deck where you replace the legendary with a more accessible card. Not fun for people who don't want to spend loads of money on packs
I find adding hemet jungle hunter and playing him after you're done the quest allows you to draw your combo pieces really fast. he's a better legendary than people give him credit for
PoundCake Smash that sounds reasonable, you still need to daw it
Yeah, I mean sometimes it sits at the bottom of my deck and does nothing but you can still get the combo
the rogue quest is op as well. some dude got it in like 5 turns. good thing i have a strong control warrior quest deck.
23:34 Was...was that a konosuba reference?
So, the probability to have the quest in the starting hand is 100%? I've never played against a quest deck without the opponent casting it in the first turn
Yes it always appears in your hand, but you can choose to mulligan it away if you want.
I'm about 50% win rate with a version of Trump's Plantlock against various quest decks. Quests are only slightly more creative than C'thun. It looks like it will be quests versus aggro for a while. The true challenge it to craft a good non-aggro, anti-quest deck.
1:04 Jump to the left, step to the right, wiggle your elbows and look up into ttthe light!
IT'S A IT'S A IT'S A RICK DANCE!
I wonder what happens when you play Time Warp vs Kel'Thuzad on the phase change turn.
Trump just has the best thumbnails xd
I had no idea what was going on in that last game
First Dr Boom, now Open the Waygate...
Ok Trump, we still love you KappaPride
whenever I see the time warp card, I always flashback to trump getting double turned and getting demolished
1:28 "drawl through the deck" strifecro is that you?
In this episode Trump explains what it's like in theory to lose your virginity.
Please do quest Druid and quest Warrior!
do you always draw quests in your initial hand
This deck is awesome.
So yesterday I introduced my mom to hearthstone. I thought was fine until she woke me up at 2:00 AM screaming about hkw her arcane missles hit Mukla's face 3 times and missed the silverback patriarch in the tutorial.
I lost it when the Rogue overdrew. Jens gets better and better at editing
How about replace acolytes for cold lights? Guaranteed 2 cards
Why do people run meteor? Single target removal plus some AoE?
can you sylvanas demonic portal?
TheLegend27 nope
no you can't, it's not considered a minion.
Damn
As well as it not being a minion, Sylvanas isn't even in standard anymore.
Kain Ark Yes. I'm glad you know that cards not in standard are moved to wild.
What rank are you on EU Trump :)?
Quest mage seems like a more rng dependent freeze mage from what I can tell so far
I love Trump trying to fuckin' calculate if he's lost in the time warp vs time warp scenario
The new quests have driven everyone to outpace each other before the other deck gets the advantage. I'm not sure how i feel about how the meta will evolve from this standpoint
I had to start running flare because of this damn deck. I cannot afford to run two so, if i do not draw it, my win chance is super low.
That's a nice one star card ya got there
Is the version with antonidois better?
Evan Degener it's more fun, but I think it's a less consistent version
Dat reference in Time warp.
Oh man i wish this would happen when i play against quest rogue 25:10
Isn't the exodia Mage version of this deck generally just better?
Rated as 1 Star...
Ok
He didn't make very good predictions this time around but to be fair 1) who cares 2) nothing is at stake 3) it's better than just hedging on every single card so as to appear not wrong
+Thomas Middleton Im pretty sure that the hs players who were looking for good advice about what to craft first but was horribly misguided cares alot.
tbh im thinking his 1 star might have been right pirate warrior and rouge might come out on top
what sux is that he's not even playing the good version of the way gate deck... lol wow.
To be fair, it seems like the first few games, Open the Waygate is actually making the deck worse. He is just playing freeze mage, but has to add bad cards to his deck to enable the combo.
Gotta admit that how that hunter used hemet was very creative. but not running tundra rhino? that is dumb
here is a question can you mind control a nether portal?
Erik Hyrkas No, its not a Minion
I personally play the Sorcerer's Apprentice + Molten Reflection + Antonidas version of this deck. Unreliable, bad, lots of losses but extremely fun to play.
