The City hasn't been worth visiting for over twenty years, and got worse under Newsom and Breed. I've been watching from Marin for over 60 years now, and the recent/current crop of democrat politicians in California are making it increasingly difficult to live. The quality of residents has taken quite a hit over the past half century as well. The was a time when Marin residents were almost uncomfortably polite to one another and considerate to a fault. The liberal mindset that has taken hold here, and the indoctrination mills that we used to refer to as schools have made this place just another story of what not to do, and how not to do it.

Blind Squid I agree 100%. To bring back to reality you’d need to see about a 75% drop but that wont happen b/c alot of foreign investors are parking their money in these empty homes out here and they apparently don’t care if it loses value.
Anifco67 that is bad for the market in that area when it tanks like that. Some ppl who saved up 20-30% down payment (which would be around $200k-400k) would not get any money after selling since they sold at a loss.

Lack of Consciousness…Meditate, study, think about this…It will open your eyes to the reality of how many Americans are. Greed has overtaken the hearts of many - hearts which are or have turned cold. God created every man to have food, water and a safe shelter. Many rich techies are like “robots” already - they serve the creation (technology) rather than letting is serve them. Their mentality/mind is already *seared*. They take orders from their tech spoon-feeding companies & ignore the homeless guy on the corner who doesn’t have the money for rent or money for medicine. In a country where there are more houses than homeless people - houses that are often the ‘2nd/vacation house’ - don’t be surprised that God’s Judgement is being released.
I was there in the 50s,, being from a small southern town i was in awe and thought what a wonderous place it was. After a few months of walking qand looking closer i was less impressed. Then on Market street i saw an elderly man, well dressed, fall on his face dead and nobody payed any attention at all. My home town looked a lot better after that.

Foreign tech workers that have liberal attitudes. They come from chit hole places (India and the Middle East) so they think this is wonderful! It's not for Americans any longer.
Smart. Most of my friends had already moved to North Bay, Sacramento and beyond for a more human like lifestyle. Some of my friends who bought their home at near high always has no money for other luxury things. Most of their paycheck went into mortgage. so Stupid.
Now that all the tech companies are letting us work from home theres 0 reason to stay in the city. It's overcrowded, i'm literally stepping over homeless people on the way to work. This is almost three months old. I haven't been to San Francisco since before Mid-March Covid lockdown, but decided to go for a drive around the downtown. It was 5 PM on a Wednesday and there was lots of traffic on the highway in. There were very few people walking around anywhere and hardly anyone at the busiest area of Union Square and the Westfield Mall. Some storefronts were still covered with plywood except for the glass front doors and some were covered with plywood and closed for good. Most of the people walking around looked like riff-raff and the bad areas looked worse than usual. I didn't drive there very long as I saw several vehicles covered in graffiti and a late 1990s Mercedes E class sedan with all the windows and side panels smashed and the interior and engine stripped of parts. This city is dying and the realtors are in denial that prices will fall.
If they can work from anywhere, some might be opting to drop that insane living cost for a small place, to move to a place they can get a home at the fraction of the cost.

Can you explain your comment?
What’s crazy is they are still trying to hold on to that price
Landlords need to pay taxes. Taxes don't go down.
Until its the next detroit..!
@TylerSowa ok for real
@Dan but rent prices need to go down if people wasn't so greedy we wouldn't have this problem
TAXES!!! Taxes cause landlords to raise rents! If it cost less to buy a building, rents will not be as high. A landlord is running a business, they have to pay mortgage, taxes and maintenance costs before putting a buck in their pockets!
"South Beach took a hit"....🤣🤣🤣🤣🙄... Seriously went from $1.9M for a 2bd condo to $1.87M... WOW thats a huge hit...
1.95 to 1.92 that's a $30,000 discount which isn't much
It really is a joke, but look at how many people fall for it. “If you build it they will come”? How did that rule of idiocy come to be?
It needs to be hit another 4x.

Ship Democrats to live out their depraved pedo lives in the dying Demo cities. 😆
30k off .....its still a million and something ....Greedy people ....
The system is finally collapsing. How much is this apartment ? Its only 9.2 million. Customer then asks how much for the dumpster?
Oh , the dumpster is a steal at only $250,000...😆😆😆
I loved being in SF. The weather and scenery is amazing but it just seems unrealistic to pay $2500 a month for a tiny studio apartment with no where to park and homeless everywhere. I would definitely visit tho.
As long as Democrats are in charge, there will be no hope. I visited that town in 2012 for the last time.
I visited it zero times, and that was still one too many.
Keep supporting conservatives and it will be doomsday
The pandemic make people realize that their living situation are shit, and they moved on. I mean before they'll just sleep in their tiny cubicles then go to work after, now they have to spend 24/7 in their cages, that should be an eye opening how overpriced shit are and that it's not worth it anymore
so 30K is supposed to be a big deal when the price is close to 2 million? That's almost a rounding error
Those days appear to be gone too. The liberal mindset that has taken hold here, and the indoctrination mills that we used to refer to as schools have made this place just another story of what not to do, and how not to do it.
Why do you stay? I live in SF and from where I'm standing mostly what I see is folks are hugely indifferent to politics. I almost never hear folks talking politics and these ultra wealthy tech geeks are probably very centrist--they love trumps gifts. 55,000 SF folks are registered republican and 30,000 or more voted for trump. We have Capitalism on steroids for folks like me and we have Socialism for the corporations. Why do you think so many are on the street here? SF is a republicans utopia---screw all the poor people and subsidize the wealthy.
Democrat politicians and policies have led the march in RUINING a once beautiful and free state. 😢

@Betsy Bird -- the government is not you mommy/daddy. Perhaps your "friend" should shack up with those who you claim are in similar circumstances and split the rent! They're getting federal money (aka disability). She's not required to stay in a specific location. Tell them to move to somewhere cheap! Plenty of states offer homes that can be rented for 4 to 5 hundred per month! Stop with the poor leadership/gov. neglect talk. People are in charge of their own destinies and you were just provided with a viable option. WHY DON"T YOU INVITE HER TO LIVE WITH YOU AND CHARGE HER RENT????

I give it 1 year or less and you’ll start seeing 30-50% drops in house values. Yes it’s going to get THAT bad.
Blind Squid I agree 100%. To bring back to reality you’d need to see about a 75% drop but that wont happen b/c alot of foreign investors are parking their money in these empty homes out here and they apparently don’t care if it loses value.
1 year? This pandemic isnt over by a long shot. I think by the 3rd year it dies down tho

Um, they are keeping the leases because they would be sued if they broke them. Duh.

*The flushing toilet & the sewage system were & are the NUMBER ONE solution to disease control*
NYC was literally a sh!thole during the 1850s-1900s with a high population and no proper sewage system below.
Cholera and various immune-system diseases were running rampant during the timeperiod as it was common practice to dump human waste onto streets and rivers.
It was until the 1880s-1910s that Britain developed mass-produce flushable toilets and connect those toilets to a sewage system.
NYC copy-pasted Britain, & saved/prevented the death of 100,000 to millions of lives!
It’s a joke $30000.00 less...that $2 million dollars condo will be $500000.00 prices and still empty

Ive always been amazed at how the so called educated could be so stupid to get sucked into the California housing market. After i saw a landfill become a subdivision and the developer built luxury homes on it.

I drove a taxi in San Francisco for many years until August, yeah, this is pretty accurate. I left for Kentucky and I'm happy here, what I will say is that from the middle of March until I left, places that were normally bumper to bumper traffic, nothing. South Beach? Townsend, Brennan and Embarcadero streets, Fremont, Stuart, yeah, pretty much empty of traffic until the beginning of July, even after that, nada much. I miss the City, but after 25 years, I couldn't handle it anymore. I prefer to remember it as a teenager delivering mail on my bicycle making a grand a month and having the time of my life. RIP SF
Maybe a months rent for a small apartment shouldn’t cost as much as buying an entire trailer home. Just sayin.
