neckarsulme 200 dumb asses that don’t understand the geographical lay out of San Francisco and what neighborhoods offer and suffer from what. I lived here for 7 years so I have a clear enough clue, and all you idiots don’t know a thing you talk about. You all have your head in your butt and have a disgusting image of San Francisco being like this all over. You can go to many million dollar homes and none of these problems exist. You guys don’t know anything. Forest hill, inner sunset, Merced heights and much more neighborhoods in San Francisco wouldn’t tolerate any of what you just said. So get real dumb ass.

depends... it's like 1 share of JCP is not the same as 1 share of amazon sort of thing. how expensive something is depends on how much one can sell it for. if not for covid, these outrageous priced homes can get more expensive year over year.

It’s a great city and would be fun to live in but I agree. Why don’t you just got spend 1.7mil on a fat ass mansion 45 minutes away from the city. With the left over money just go buy a self driving Tesla and now you don’t even have to worry about the commute.

2 to 3 million dollars on average nation wide in villages in Luxembourg for a 3 bedroom house and 1 million to 1.5 million dollars for a 2 bedroom flat nationwide.

@Betsy Bird -- people like you and your way of thinking are causing this country to collapse (and have been for sometime -- the path). First -- you can't force landlords to lower rent through government. They're private property. The only way to get landlords to lower rent is to LOWER DEMAND. The demand was there before Covid. People were willing to pay it. Blame them for their part. Americans are going to end up on the street when the world says our monopoly money isn't worth much and we lose the reserve currency. Those fantasy pensions of paying out 80 to 90 percent of final salaries are going to come to an end. It's unsustainable! Do you think the private sector can afford that? People on SS get an average of $1300 a month. Do you think public employees deserve 4 to 5 times more per month? Better wake up out of your Utopia like dreams because the chickens are coming home to roost.

The City hasn't been worth visiting for over twenty years, and got worse under Newsom and Breed. I've been watching from Marin for over 60 years now, and the recent/current crop of democrat politicians in California are making it increasingly difficult to live. The quality of residents has taken quite a hit over the past half century as well. The was a time when Marin residents were almost uncomfortably polite to one another and considerate to a fault. Those days appear to be gone too. The liberal mindset that has taken hold here, and the indoctrination mills that we used to refer to as schools have made this place just another story of what not to do, and how not to do it.

I almost never hear folks talking politics and these ultra wealthy tech geeks are probably very centrist--they love trumps gifts. 55,000 SF folks are registered republican and 30,000 or more voted for trump. We have Capitalism on steroids for folks like me and we have Socialism for the corporations. Why do you think so many are on the street here? SF is a republicans utopia---screw all the poor people and subsidize the wealthy.

Lack of Consciousness…Meditate, study, think about this…It will open your eyes to the reality of how many Americans are. Greed has overtaken the hearts of many - hearts which are or have turned cold. God created every man to have food, water and a safe shelter. Many rich techies are like “robots” already - they serve the creation (technology) rather than letting is serve them. Their mentality/mind is already *seared*. They take orders from their tech spoon-feeding companies & ignore the homeless guy on the corner who doesn’t have the money for rent or money for medicine. In a country where there are more houses than homeless people - houses that are often the ‘2nd/vacation house’ - don’t be surprised that God’s Judgement is being released.

This is almost three months old. I haven't been to San Francisco since before Mid-March Covid lockdown, but decided to go for a drive around the downtown. It was 5 PM on a Wednesday and there was lots of traffic on the highway in. There were very few people walking around anywhere and hardly anyone at the busiest area of Union Square and the Westfield Mall. Some storefronts were still covered with plywood except for the glass front doors and some were covered with plywood and closed for good. Most of the people walking around looked like riff-raff and the bad areas looked worse than usual. I didn't drive there very long as I saw several vehicles covered in graffiti and a late 1990s Mercedes E class sedan with all the windows and side panels smashed and the interior and engine stripped of parts. This city is dying and the realtors are in denial that prices will fall.

The thing is is u not wear mask and go places u can catch from anyone who not wear any. i read it a hoax or other, but i keep reading anytime this virus is hitting anyone who dont cover and it takes time like a cold or flu but hits u harder in ways. so any traffic to home u gotta hope no one has it any by chance.

I just don't know how many drugs you have to sell, credit cards you have to scam, humans you have to traffick, to afford housing in SF. I work in tech and except for a few few outliers, you're lucky to make more than $30k a year in tech.

Like locusts, after destroying one area, they take off for greener pastures to infiltrate and destroy. Say goodbye to your suburban lifestyle, people. Your cost of living has just increased. City folk and city manners are coming your way.

So true. Not only control the people of China they're after us. Wake up America China is buying up cities. My grandfather told my dad and his 9 brothers back in the 30's that all you hear is the Russians are coming but he said, always watch China. Boy was he right. My mom said 50 yrs ago that we needed to cut California off at the border and shove it out in the ocean. Boy how right she was, she wouldn't believe it today. That state has always been the dredge on America.

Not everywhere. Consider Sunset district, Richmond district, you can't say that if you were born and raised here. If you hang out in the TL (Tenderloin District) of course or in Hunters Point or certain projects. Just don't go there.

@@high_ping_drifter9133I know right. Someone told me but I vaguely remember that it was a from tenderloin steaks being passed out to soldiers during a war..something to that effect. The buildings in that district are beautifully made. Historical value to some of them I'm sure.

Real estate people are just sleazy. Are there really THAT many people with over 1 million in net worth that they’re able to comfortably buy a shoebox going for 1-2million? I make around 250k a year and don’t think I’ll be able to buy such condo or even a home with a backyard until I save religiously for another 20 years. By then I don’t think I’ll want to part with the savings...

I drove a taxi in San Francisco for many years until August, yeah, this is pretty accurate. I left for Kentucky and I'm happy here, what I will say is that from the middle of March until I left, places that were normally bumper to bumper traffic, nothing. South Beach? Townsend, Brennan and Embarcadero streets, Fremont, Stuart, yeah, pretty much empty of traffic until the beginning of July, even after that, nada much. I miss the City, but after 25 years, I couldn't handle it anymore. I prefer to remember it as a teenager delivering mail on my bicycle making a grand a month and having the time of my life. RIP SF
