I'm not sure that audience was up to appreciating this fantastic performance. They all look pretty dead and zombified. What a beautiful voice! Like everyone says, this is one of the great classics. I could come back to this for 50 years, then try for the next 50. And it's a remarkable story how this song ever came about. Just great.
It's probably the same look the school he worked for gave him when he worked for a school and then had sang this song for the very first time. Nobody ever knew he even sang when he was at the school. The staff and students had absolutely no idea until they had seen or heard him sing it on tv or radio. They always seen and talked w him at the school and he never mentioned that he was going to perform singing the song. A++
I don’t think this is the video from American Bandstand. The audience is too old. Plus they’d be dancing, I would think. The American Bandstand video version, I think, is where the girls are dancing around Gene Vincent. (Note: I’m wrong about the video with the dancing girls being American Bandstand. It’s another show like American Bandstand though. Maybe it’s Hullabaloo.).
