Tapelu, a Special Surti Dish!

  • Tapelu, a tasty Surti dish, spices up mutton with a burst of flavor and heat. Try it for a spicy delight!
    Ingredients:
    1 kg of mutton
    800 gm onion, cut as shown
    For Epic Green Masala
    40 gm. green chillies
    60 gm. ginger
    40 gm garlic
    40 gm Fresh Haldi
    18 gm. sea salt
    150 g groundnut oil (80 g + 70 g for tadka)
    50 g ghee (25 g + 25 g)
    Make a coarse powder with a mortar and pestle.
    1 stick Cinnamon
    2 pieces of clove
    2 pieces of mace (Javintri)
    Almost ¼ of a Nutmeg (Jaiphal)
    For the tadka,
    10 gm Garam Masala Powder
    5 gm. red chilli powder
    10-15 pieces of cashew nuts
    Recipe Pointers:
    Make a coarse powder of khada garam masala. Heat half the amount of oil and
    ghee. Add the powder.
    Add the mutton and let it cook for some time.
    Add onions and let them cook for an hour without stirring them. Cook
    covered.
    Open the tapelu and add epic green masala.
    Cook covered for another 40-45 minutes.
    Give Tadka, and it's ready!
