Saying that the Knicks go from a championship team to not because of IHart is a bad take. He was a significant part of the 2023 team but it was him that got them that deep in the playoffs. It’s a big deal….which is why arguably the best GM in sport gave him 29 per and why the Knicks really wanted to keep him. You just traded 7000 picks for Bridges and gave perennially injured OG 212 million but you wouldn’t “overpay” for Hartenstein….please. He was a perfect fit….a downgrade is inevitable at the spot this year. It’s about titles now, margins are very thin, and new cap rules plus minimal young talent plus a lack of picks makes it difficult for the Knicks to add real talent. We lost to Indy last year, we barely beat a hobbled 76ers team that has massively improved…..let’s not act like we’re the Celtics.

Very rare Sal is correct on anything but Hartenstein's contract is hilarious and the Knicks would have been insane to give him anywhere near that kind of money to get 7 pts and 8 rebs a game. But he's also delirious thinking Randle makes this team better. Randle is a cancer for the team and the offense will not work once he's back on the court. He's a selfish Me-first guy who clogs the court up and will cost them next seasons hopes if he's still around.

So you claiming he's selfish and a cancer to the team sounds like online and media regurgitated talking points. Watch the games please.
Randle is still valuable to the team, he's the main enforcer and can play bully ball like other. Also, his presence on the court makes it difficult for teams to constantly double team Brunson. The double teams on Brunson became worse once Randle went down, you would have known that had you actually watch the Knicks play.....SMH!!!

    He netted all those floaters.
He may not average a lot of assists but his “hockey assists” were huge. He made it easier for Brunson to play.

@@lirpa2300 injury is never guaranteed one way or the other. And to say Mitch is the reason we never won is such a casual take. He literally is the anchor of the defense that changed the Knicks culture. He is a big part of the process that got the Knicks out of years of mediocrity. And is our best option against guys like Embiid and the Greek. Again all respect to ihart but he could not guard Embiid on one leg. Mitch gave him real issues till the cheapest shot of the playoffs happened.

Not a championship breaker he isnt even a top star, BT with the bad take again.

He had 0 points in game 7...this dude is acting like we lost Kareem. He played his best with Randle out, when he got to touch the ball, and played better when the bench players were starting because of injuries. With Randle, Brunson, Bridges, and OG, our starting center needs to grab misses and get putbacks, he doesn't need to do Hartenstein stuff...be "the best passing big man".
Tierney is that old school Knicks fan who overvalues scrubs....Isiah is morre important than Randle. 🙄

It is a big deal. Sal is way off on this one. Hartenstein has a much more modernized skill set and is more rugged. Robinson is always hurt. Why is Sal asking what does Hartenstein bring. Just ask the Thunder, they sure think highly of him giving him that contract.

Good for him. They can’t keep everyone and BT is right the ball stops with Randle, Hardistein was not selfish and he passes. And the injuries with Robinson and Randle every year is annoying. But it’s New York and it’s never ever easy for us.

"IHart does not do anything well"...what?
2nd best offensive rebounder in the league
5th best passing center in the league
a very good defender 80 blocks 80 steals, tell me how many centers did that this year
Lets face it is a tough lost but with this new CBA it is tough for all teams.
We just gotta let Leon Rose cook and find us a back up for Mitch.

Mitch averaged more Blocks and more steals last year than Hartenstine ! Look it up , who couldn’t cover Embiid and Turner ? Mitch rehabbing finished games in the 4th , Pacers ran a layup line on Hartenstine 65 points in the paint twice out rebounded us

Sal's analysis is often so superficial. No sense of nuance. He can't see the value of a player who doesn't have gaudy stats but fits the team like a glove.

IHart is not the best passing big in the league…BT must’ve forgotten about Joker. Randle is waaay more important than ihart…we lost to pacers with ihart, I say the missing piece was Randle, we needed someone down low to bang with Indy. Mitch if he’s healthy will be more than fine at the 5
