Wolverine steals your tank and destroys them. Cap dives on Hawkeye and gets too shot while he double jumps out of your range. Hela headshots you 2 times, birds your only damage ability and you die. Punisher smoke bombs you and 3 shot shotguns you and you die. The only DPS I think cap is actually good against is Moon Knight.

@scotttimbrell8632 just ignoring the best tool cap has? His shield. Deflects Hela CC, and they'd both kill themselves. By the time Cap lands on Hela he's removed 145 of her health.
I’ve been playing Cap and got to plat with him. Definitely slept on. High mobility and strongest survivability out of all the tanks. I was able to take an entire a team 1v5 or 1v6 with his ult and held the point so my team can respawn and attack. His high mobility, dive kick, and shield bash makes him very difficult to aim at. The reflective shield saves my support from long range units. And since I’m so small and look like a DPS I get overlooked and walk past enemy lines to kill the supports. Super underrated tank
Meanwhile Venom dives gets a kill, survives and leaves. Magneto and Dr strange do 3x the amount of damage and have overall less deaths....yeah he's okay, but the other tanks are just better.
@@Conspirachu Higher usage = more games = more potential losses. Captain has lower usage, those who do use him are likely good and using the niche pick for a reason. Whereas some other tanks like Magneto are more common and considered meta, so the average player will gravitate towards them resulting in more overall losses.
@@scotttimbrell8632 It's important to remember at the end of the day this is a hero shooter where you get to run around as popular superheroes. It's about enjoying more than anything. If someone enjoys Cap that's all that matters. Looking at everything through the lens of optimal efficiency and stats is a quick way to kill having fun and variety in a game.
Cap is secretly quite good, he just requires you to take the time to get used to his playstyle and play for survivability. You need to be smart with how you play and constantly disturb the back line at the same time. Your ult should also be saved for specific moments. As a Cap Lord, thank you for showing people how good Cap can be if played correctly.
Meanwhile in the backline the supports peel for themselves, deal more damage to you and CC you, the tanks turn around and hit you or the DPS on an off angle shoot at you while you're out of range of any healing, can't escape cus you're abilities take 5-7 business days to come back up and don't help insta anyone. Cap is objectively bad at what he wants to do and is incredibly fun while doing nothing. As a cap main In GM, I will dive the backline, beat the shit out of the supports, survive forever and when I finally die the damage I did was a few hundred and couldn't possibly get any picks. He is good in low elo with no one paying attention and unless you have follow up with someone who actually does damage.
@ yea this exact scenario never happens because I always have my shield bash for escape and my shield is up during like 90% of the game. He’s not bad, you say you’re a GM cap main yet you don’t seem to be doing well if that’s what’s happening to you. It’s called playing smart, taking the attention of the healers and a tank or a dps is massive for your team because it allows them to be more aggressive. Cap is a team player, no he can not carry and most likely will never be able to but that doesn’t make him bad.
@@rayde8393 My shield is always up too until it gets destroyed and I always leave my leap up cus its more versatile than bash is. But im playing against actual good players who use their cooldowns right, hit their shots and play as a team.
So it's safe to say you're a Marvel Rivals content maker now, eh? It's great to see you happy with a game, Flats. This is much more entertaining than your OW2 content because I think we can all tell you're enjoying yourself.
I will never understand why people insist on labeling things differently the moment any variety appears. The only safe thing to say is that he's a hero shooter creator
Streamers choice of game is partially driven by what they want to play but also partially driven by what draws views. The audience for rivals is much bigger than OW2 right now
If the views for this game ever go down take a wild guess where he'll go. He isnt loyal to any game because loyalty kills views. Even now, he still doesnt play this gake everyday.
The youtube content is mostly just taken from stream to appeal to his main audience. Whenever overwatch was not doing too hot, he would play something else on stream. Streaming is his main job. The only reason why he is uploading rivals is because he is 1: playing a lot of it, and 2: the youtube audience will generally enjoy it.
Flats, if you see this - I subbed to you shortly after I started looking for Marvel Rivals content and I love it! I appreciate your work, it's both informative and entertaining
From the channels I've been watching that have a one trick Cap, he's very underrated. People are just playing him like a front line tank instead of a diving disrupter.
Yep, like Venom, Hulk and Thor he's a dive tank not a frontline tank. Shuts down ranged heroes real hard with his shield, but it's not going to hold up against multiple enemies focusing you. You want to dive the healers and 1v1 the ranged dps for easy kills.
I’ll be honest the amount of times I’ve been blamed for playing cap as a dive tank is really stupid. I swear most players in this game don’t know what half of the hero’s even do. I get blamed for not pushing or pulling but cap is a dive tank lmao.
@@josephreynolds2401 especially in lower ranks, everyone expects tanks to just sit in the middle with a shield and take all the hits for them because their own positioning is so crap lol
Oh, on the point you made during bronze about people complaining they never get healed. I can vouch, as someone who just got into gold, the issue really isn't your team never healing, it's you over extending. I recently made the swap to Storm, meaning I now have no choice but to play with the team and play smart positions. And I now almost never die because I'm RIGHT THERE for my healers to spam. Before, when I was playing Thor and Starlord, I unintentionally pushed to far from the team all the time and never got healed. Healers, particularly in the low ranks, need to see you to heal you.
As a Cap main i think one of the things that also helps is a a cap that camps their side of the field takes all their health packs and makes it harder for the enemy team to get healed
If you press melee separate for each attack in between attacks, you continue sprinting in between attacks. You can't hold the attack button,.you have to press it constantly. It's so good for staying on people.
It’s called animation canceling and the reason you’re not getting damage is because you’re doing them too fast. You’ve got to find the rhythm. Watch the Japanese curry cap guide and you’ll know what I mean.
I'm only a few minutes in but seeing your gameplay is so validating for me as someone who decided to try Captain America after seeing some truly WILD plays from opponents on him. Crazy mobility, hard to kill, ranged answer to disengages... He sticks to strategists better than Thor, but can take way more punishment and distracts way more enemies than most flanker duelists it seems to me. Yeah spider man and magick do more damage and have more tricks but they can't also defend with body blocking and an ult that's nearly as good as luna snow for providing protection on point. I definitely think his gameplan is just unfamiliar to most players so they think he's weak because they don't understand the vision. Yeah he isn't on frontline like magneto or strange, but if he's distracting 2 healers and more... He's getting a ton done. Problem is most dps expect solo tank which is very unfun to play as a vanguard player. My WR is like 66% and i got plat 3 the other night, so i agree he's good and I'll listen less to haters (at time of writing it's top 96% of server, good enough for me)
Flats is in the top MMR, so him getting to GM was a forgone conclusion. He is weak. He's the weakest tank IMO. That doesn't mean he's unplayable. He's not, but he's outclassed by other tanks. He's got some major clunkiness in his kit. The shield dash, ground slam, and the melee throw all have weird things about them that make him more difficult to play than he should be. The shield dash can get caught on anything. The melee throw doesn't pierce shields, so you can have a Strange dead but it switches to throw and you can't hit him through the shield anymore. And the ground slam being bound to melee makes it prone to accidental usage. His shield has a cooldown for some reason. I think if they addressed these things, he'd immediately be a lot better. But Cap is definitely fun. I've been playing him a lot recently. He's probably the best in the game at harassing the back line and getting out. If you can do that without dying, even if you don't secure kills, you'll give your team a good chance to win.
Watching you run around with cap and use the health packs has helped me find them in places I never knew they were. Thanks. (GM3 btw before y’all call me trash)
Watched the whole 2 1/2 hours thinking I'd skip around. This kept me entertained more than most movies these days. Too bad this is the only one, but it was cinema.
Cap is like playing with your hair on fire and the only way to put it out is by punching running and jumping. playing a full tense game with him is exhausting- and i love it. thanks for something like this on the way to learn him and not feed
The most useful thing I learned from these VODs was abusing Groot's barriers to two-hit to ready Cap's ranged shield melee combo so he can still harass at mid-range. Very helpful, and I will definitely be making use of it in the future.
Its nice to see these videos because it confirms that im not crazy when i see so many people in lower ranks running the most defensive team comps imaginable (peni, groot, punisher, moonknight type stuff). Its really this make or break on your teams understanding. I think its nice to see these players in higher levels experiencing a lower-ranking meta and being able to more effectively dismantle it. So often people discuss characters with a high-rank lense and dont give accurate advice on how to effectively play against strategies they're likely not seeing.
I love cap finally getting some attention. I think he’s so fun and underrated. Sometimes I feel like the numbers don’t tell the full story with him, it’s his mobility and ability to apply pressure that make him so good. He can bully back lines and escape - it’s so fun
Cap is actually so much fun if played correctly the buff in season 1 will go hard. Actually rivals cooked with all the characters. Good vid btw appreciate your work
Yo Flats recently found your channel while watching Marvel Rivals content and this video inspired me to try Cap, I didn't understand how his kit worked or where he stood as a tank for his team. I OTP'd Loki Season 0, and mainly play Hulk or Moon Knight in Quick Play but Cap never clicked with me until I saw this video. Did a few QP rounds to get familiar, adjusted my settings and hopped into ranked, starting at B3. Jumped to silver in a few games as Cap alone with 10+ kills and only a few deaths per match and that is due to seeing your process during this video. Wouldn't say I'm an amazing Cap but am confident to say this vid along with having Support knowledge has allowed me to be a more effective Cap for my teams. Keep up the good content, this video was awesome, sincerely a PS5 scrub.

I think the med packs are interesting gameplay, and the Heal over Time makes it better all around. I absolutely condone no auto heal for Rivals since the med pack routes are legitimately interesting and numerous. And Auto-heal works wonders in OW's 5v5 format.

@1:14:52 We often fall into this trap of judging ourselves because "ok that didn't work, I must have done something wrong". When the risk is well calculated, you have to trust it and keep going for the winning move. Makes me think a lot about poker : you can take all the right decisions and still lose the round. The same applies in these strategy games. It's honestly a great lesson to learn
as someone who is a support main (like every single game), for some reason Cap caught my interest for my tank main. So i can't wait to watch and learn!
I really wish there was a mechanism where cap could refresh his leap smash ability on a successful hit or something. It would make him so fun. I love his kit other than not being able to initiate every single fight with it lol

I would love a more condensed guide but this is good too. I find myself trying to emulate your play, but either have bad luck or dont know when to back out when folks peel for thier squishies, which happens a lot in silver suprisingly.
A good tip to stay moving while in combat is to get your shield strikes while you don’t have your slam then sprint jump and Throw your shield mid jump you should be able to get like 3 off in one jump. You can’t have slam because unfortunately there is no way to unbind slam from his normal strike so you must have it on cooldown for this to work
i've mainly been playing wolverine, cap and hulk for the reason from day one thought they all had a ton of potential. I think people are still realizing cap is not supposed to take on tanks, but take on the supports and other squishies in the backline. On a side note, in the season 1 preview where flats got to test out mr fantastic, i noticed he didn't try out what is probably the most basic combo on him, but can't really fault him for it as afaik no other content creator has done it either.

The most informative thing in this video is seeing where all the health packs are. I had never seen about half of them lol
35:10 I rooted for that rocket, thats a silver 3 support player getting pressed by a grandmaster dive tank. terrifying stuff
Rivals having open queue + Hero bans(and target bans) has led to some unexpected results :
Watching players actually wanting to learn others roles to maxout their flexibility, wanting to learn others characters because alot of them are good and thanks to the bans, you cant be a forever meta slaves-EVEN target bans forcing some one trick to have some pocket picks just in case.
I know this super early still but all that sound super healthy for the game.
they need bans in more ranks tho
low ranks is full of hela smurfs
1:14:00 taking on all three enemy supports while your team 5v3's them and loses is such a vibe.
The most Tank main thing ever
this
Using the groot walls to set up the two hits needed for the primary fire shield throw is smart. Never thought of that before 😅
With the Loki clones too
and Moon Knight Ankhs
Remember, everything is a resource (sometimes)
I would just like to say that I'm so happy to have a reason to consistently watch flats again. He's so fun to watch. I quit watching Flats when Overwatch canceled the PvE mode cause sadly the game just didnt interest me anymore. I never unsubbed and I still watch the roll for sandwich series. I'm just happy I can be back watching some classic Flats hero shooter content.
Same.
Been mostly enjoying the Sandwich reacts and other reaction vids here and there ever since Blizzard set the last scrap of my good will aflame when they admitted they had already scrapped PvE by the time they launched OW2
Hahah, I was the Namor that ulted @1:20:30. That was funny to see your reactions haha, gg
2:20 they complain about never getting healed but in reality they don't play cover/corners and just take more damage than heals that supports can put out. They expect to stand in front of 5 or 6 people and be kept up which just isn't feasible.
15:03 theory disproven 😂 flats now understands the low ranked struggle. But it does happen the other way too but with my dps, they spam heal me when they are in a bad corner that I can't get to unless I run through the site line of all 6 enemy players 😂
@@Dgalvez420yeah I hadn't made it that far yet haha. It's def not as common as you see a lot of people make it out to be. People in the lower ranks really struggle with not taking damage. You do run into the supports though that try to DPS first heal second tho.
@@Dgalvez420 Are you really going to use 1/10 instances to "disprove" something? The healers noticed him and healed him 90% of the time.
@derpyduck5088 it is human nature to remember the bad times than the good times. Also it's part of the joke, if you watch from that timer he is laughing about it and I also used a laugh emoji to show I'm not that serious about it, plus my example of how it can be the tank of dps's fault for not being in site to heal. Calm down, drink some water, and enjoy the video like we did.
@@derpyduck5088it’s really not tho he just got lucky everytime. Ive went multiple full games in a row where both of them ignored me just like the Luna at 15 mins even when we’re literally safe. And it wasn’t just that one day
@flats YO!!!!! I was your Loki in the 5V6 Match this is hilarious. Didn't know it was you. I was complimenting you in my discord chat after the game saying thank god we lost that feeding strange/hulk who was trash and the goated cap stayed.
That was a fun win. I am Mjorin lol. I was Diamond 3 and solo queued back to Gold 2. This game got me back to plat 3 so thank you Flats. I made it back to D2 before comp ended. Didn't have as much time to play this season as I would have liked. Thank you again for not giving up on the game, and for hard carrying against these trash plats/golds.
P.S. I tried mentioning this in your discord and got a 24hour ban lol. All good though. Still wanted to say thank you.
If you tagged him you probably got banned, that's normal for discord. Tag him in twitch chat when he's live between rounds and you should have better luck.
@@josephreynolds2401 thank you I didn't know that. That makes sense. I didn't mind the 24hour ban just thought it was funny.
@@DBJnes2099 I think its a bot script(like most big discords) so even if it's not mod policy it's probably extra not-personal lol.
Captain America is to hela, Hawkeye, punisher, ect, what Wolverine is to Tanks
Wolverine steals your tank and destroys them. Cap dives on Hawkeye and gets too shot while he double jumps out of your range. Hela headshots you 2 times, birds your only damage ability and you die. Punisher smoke bombs you and 3 shot shotguns you and you die.
The only DPS I think cap is actually good against is Moon Knight.
@@scotttimbrell8632 no, cap hard counters poke with his shield. He can deflect Hela and Hawkeye damage back at them. I switch to Cap to shut down Helas and Hawkeyes that are having a good game regularly.
@scotttimbrell8632 just ignoring the best tool cap has? His shield. Deflects Hela CC, and they'd both kill themselves. By the time Cap lands on Hela he's removed 145 of her health.
@@scotttimbrell8632You have a shield that blocks and reflects literally everything. Use it.
LMAO the "who you typing to? Who you typing to? ...who you typing to?" 54:41
I’ve been playing Cap and got to plat with him.
@@scotttimbrell8632 "Well actually" type of comment.. Jesus
@@scotttimbrell8632If venom and magneto are better, why would they have lower win rates through almost every rank and quick play?
@ I’m Diamond 1 man, not much difference from GM3 and GM2. Just speaking from experience.
cap is really good at isolating 1v1 vs support.duelist. he could chase you to death and distracting other enemies. such an unique tank in game.
Seeing Flats trying to kill that Rocket that just kept scrambling around up the wall is why I love playing him.
I wouldn't say safe to say. He enjoys this so he will make content for it but even now it's not exclusively mr
Crazy a hero with a knock up leap wants to dive into he back line and disrupt!
I’ll be honest the amount of times I’ve been blamed for playing cap as a dive tank is really stupid. I swear most players in this game don’t know what half of the hero’s even do. I get blamed for not pushing or pulling but cap is a dive tank lmao.
@@Pe37777 Most players don't know how to tank at all. Most players are in the other two roles and have their own ideas about what the tank should do.
@@josephreynolds2401 especially in lower ranks, everyone expects tanks to just sit in the middle with a shield and take all the hits for them because their own positioning is so crap lol
4:00 - 15:00 was a funny sequence flats was just like “I understand now, I apologize have a good day.” 😂
Oh, on the point you made during bronze about people complaining they never get healed.
54:35 that cap was definitely in his feelings while writing an essay to the devs and you just disrespectfully gave him backshots❤️
I tried that once and i feel like i dont get my passive doing the sprint melee , compaired to stop sprint mele twice and get 4 shields.
It’s called animation canceling and the reason you’re not getting damage is because you’re doing them too fast. You’ve got to find the rhythm. Watch the Japanese curry cap guide and you’ll know what I mean.
Watching Flats have fun on tank is very new to me
I'm only a few minutes in but seeing your gameplay is so validating for me as someone who decided to try Captain America after seeing some truly WILD plays from opponents on him.
That earned you a mandatory 'you're trash'
You have no idea where the health packs are while playing up to GM3?
@ most of them yes but some I didn’t
36:52 the adam trying to heal with his right click 💀
Ngl I mostly play Luna and Loki so when I go back to warlock I constantly do this! I’ll be like WHY ISNT IT WORKING! My team just stares at me too 🤣
Watched the whole 2 1/2 hours thinking I'd skip around.
The way I personally see Cap, is like Rein. You will struggle, but pain will only make you stronger, and you will learn to do this all day
The best team to have cap on is either thor or venom, and luna support so you get constant heals even while demolishing the backline.
listening/watching at work and i’m so excited to be home so i can retry cap. he seems like so much more fun when you understand the shield throw😭😭
Heals aren’t the problem at low rank, it’s DPS that won’t switch going 0 - 32
Good vid btw appreciate your work
I have an obsession with this man’s content
Flats " i don't undertsand you guys conplaining about heals i mean as sson as im back i get healed"
Flats in next match "i get it now"
Bro took "I can do this all day" to a whole new level
Keep up the good content, this video was awesome, sincerely a PS5 scrub.
omg that 5v6 match was so cool too watch! your the goat flats🔥

"Who are you typing to?"
I do the same thing 😂
46:43 Cap if he fought in ‘nam
"At high elo, i have been playing tank. I thought of creating another account to try some supports, maybe some dps---"
Capt America first choice 😆
Hey Flats i just wanted to let you know that because of your videos, and your personality ive actually decided to dive head first into ranked in this game and climb it. im normally a very casual player that sticks to unranked, but watching you have fun with the game and enjoying the game myself has made me decide to climb. So thank you for make this game so much fun to watch and play.
Did you retire from ranked yet
Good luck. The people can sometimes be toxic because they don't have sportsmanship.
But other than that, competitive is always a great time as long as you enjoy improving your gameplan.
I finally got into hero shooters due to rivals which is how I found you. I have to say I have learned so much from your videos and has helped me learn the game so much. Keep up the amazing content.
1:28:32 "he may have been throwing at the end" 900 healing Jeff.
Cap clicked the fastest for me. His mobility and ability to jump around and whack people is pretty awesome.
He's more of a menace than even Spider-Man!
If you’re on controller, unbind your R3 as I found, when accidentally pushed it will cancel your attack, if holding trigger button down.
15:17 Moments like that are exactly why I praise the Overwatch devs for implementing that out of combat heal system.
I think the med packs are interesting gameplay, and the Heal over Time makes it better all around.
I absolutely condone no auto heal for Rivals since the med pack routes are legitimately interesting and numerous.
And Auto-heal works wonders in OW's 5v5 format.
Not gonna lie, I am fully content to watch two and a half hours of Captain America the Marathon Man.
Thank you!! I finally understand him!! He is by far the most fun vanguard ive used. I was using Magneto, and I feel much more active as Cap. Thanks again
You are by far my favorite rivals content creator to watch! Keep up the good work! I've never played a hero shooter before. Been maining cap since day 1 since hes always been my favorite superhero and never I never understood the low rankings. almost made diamond in season zero not trying all that hard and soloing and definitely carry a lot of games. Thank you for showing cap the respect he deserves! Highly sle[pt on!
I would love to see more educational content from Flats just like this.
It's so satisfying playing as Cap.
"Call me Flankton America, cause I'm on your left"
as someone who is a support main (like every single game), for some reason Cap caught my interest for my tank main. So i can't wait to watch and learn!
Using this video to learn captain America ❌
using this video to learn where all the health packs are ✅
Perfect timing, I've been playing almost all Cap after not playing him in S0. Thanks for the video!!
I really wish there was a mechanism where cap could refresh his leap smash ability on a successful hit or something. It would make him so fun. I love his kit other than not being able to initiate every single fight with it lol
I feel like his kit is so close to perfection. There's just one buff that I'd appreciate but might be too powerful. I feel like Cap should get his shield throws from abilities
this is a great video & I have learned a lot!
But I gotta say, the "who ya typin to? who ya typin to? who ya typin to?" was hilarious lolol
This, this is amazing!!
The reaction to the Portal at 30:21 is so funny hahahah flats was mad confused
1:09:00 man that Bucky shooting your shield and hitting himself in the face was comedy
Thank you for all the footage and tips flats. I’ve been teaching a couple of friends rivals and a couple of them are interested in playing cap so I get to save myself the trouble and send this rather than coaching mid game.
Edit: Little timestamp notes of examples for said friends 1:33:52
This was absolute peak content. Just pure cinema. Did not expect to spend a Saturday morning watching 2.5 hours of one of my least favorite comic characters ever but I was enthralled. Salute to you good sir
You keep saying this isn't "meant" to be educational content and that was never the purpose but every time I watch you play I learn way more than just trying to play solo without the content. Kudos bro
hey flats new to the channel and just wanted to say that your content on this game is next level and i love it hope this game doesn't die out like overwatch 2
using the groot walls to get your shield throw is super smart i never thought of that
I would love a more condensed guide but this is good too. I find myself trying to emulate your play, but either have bad luck or dont know when to back out when folks peel for thier squishies, which happens a lot in silver suprisingly.
You're my new favorite UA-camr because your energy is so genuine and chill.
A good tip to stay moving while in combat is to get your shield strikes while you don’t have your slam then sprint jump and Throw your shield mid jump you should be able to get like 3 off in one jump. You can’t have slam because unfortunately there is no way to unbind slam from his normal strike so you must have it on cooldown for this to work
Man it’s cool to see I’ve been playing captain right but still learned a lot from this good stuff man
Inspired me to become a captain main, the hard games are hard but man when you get a good game with him he's so much fun to use
35:10 Live footage of a WW2 vet chasing a feral racoon for 30 seconds
And that is why I like rocket, he usually won't die when the enemy has dive.
Ik you said you usually don’t make vids like this but I hope you do! This was so helpful
So funny that cap is a dive hero who I usually see playing miles away from their team. Thanks for the gameplay and tips!
Would love to see you try this with other charcters, i think itd be a fun set of videos with you trying to bronze to gm with different heros
i've mainly been playing wolverine, cap and hulk for the reason from day one thought they all had a ton of potential.
Started rivals the day this season started, had some friends who already did dps/support. So I just tried the vanguards in the practice range and instantly liked captain america.Have had a blast and this is the video I need lol
15:11 i love how you just went “Fine I’ll do it myself” for the heals lol
I hardly ever touched tank on ow2, I was pretty good with it, but the pressure and stress of being the only tank was a lot, in marvel rivals I’m finally a true flex player and not just supp, bc I enjoy tank a lot in this game, even if I’m the solo tank I just feel like the pressure isn’t there bc if we NEED a second tank, we can get one
Flats please make more of these videos I learnt so much not only about cap but tanking in general awesome job buddy
