Ummm....musicians are musicians for life. Whether we want them to hang it up is a moot point. Creative people create because they are driven to do so from something inside. When they stop they stop because they either can't do it the way they want or they find another creative endeavor that feeds their soul the same way. Like everything else, we believe creatives are around for our amusement and are therefore disposable when we tire of them. Their product may be...but not their lives. And in Phil's case- neither are disposable as he still has an audience and a drive.
That's exactly what I've been saying for a very long time. I was born a musician and I will be playing drums to the day I day. I'm 57 years old and still practice and play 2 hours or more a day. I'll be playing til the cows come home or I die, whichever comes first. I wouldn't doubt just wanting to see his son on tour watching him play every night, was good enough reason to breakout and start touring again.
Yes I agree you a musician and creative for life. Where I disagree is that should necessarily been on stage. I respect Phil it was in my teenage era when his solo career became truly massive. He can sing he can barely stand, really is this a great show nobody is doubting his songwriting chops and his creativity but this is not good.

No knock on him for his medical challenges, I just prefer to remember him as the force of nature he was through most of his career. Still, I wish him nothing but the best and give all his issues he still sounds good.
@@kyl3sh3a No offense, but it doesn't really appear that he can do much right now as is. He has lost a good deal of his vocal range, seems to strain and have difficulty singing a lot of his material, can't play the drums anymore, can't stand for any decent length of time, sits in a hunched position almost the entirety of his performances, and looks generally uncomfortable. I shudder to think what the Genesis reunion shows will be like. Perhaps his son, Nicholas, should be not only playing the drums but doing the singing as well. I hate to say it, but this is bloody awful and I have no idea what Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks saw in him to say let's get the band together again other than a nostalgia tour and shameful money grab. Some things are better left alone. If they were so insistent on getting Genesis back together, then they should have asked Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett to come along for the ride and do a broad cross section of material from the early days with a few songs from the Phil Collins era as well with Peter and Phil taking turns on lead vocals and back up harmonies. When singing sounds painful for the person performing that means it is time to put one's ego aside and accept reality in one way or another so as not to make one's fans feel as if they have been given anything less than the best that performer can offer. This is very sad to watch.
Seamusin I have to agree, he’s a shell of his former self. The voice is horrible and what are they thinking about a reunion, I saw them on the reunion tour I think it was in 2007 and it wasn’t that good. How could it be any good now.

One of my favorite shows of all time is "Live and Loose in Paris" from 1997, and it's so great to see so many of the same people together on stage even after 22 years. Only differences as far as I know are Nic on drums instead of Ricky Lawson (for obvious reasons), Lee Sklar on bass instead of Nathan East, and different people on sax and trombone, plus two extra backup singers next to Amy Keys and Arnold McCuller. That's pretty impressive. Breaks my heart to see him barely being able to stand up anymore. Retiring from doing live shows was probably the best decision he made health-wise, but noone can say that he didn't always give everything he had on stage anyway. A true inspiration and a living legend.
Im glad to see P. Collins having fun on the stage... He give us so much time of his life.... With music and lyrics. ... Show some respect please. ... Ps. .. And he is having fun with a Peruvian Cajon. .I can't ask for more👍👍👍👍
Phil must be SO PROUD of his son knowing that HIS drum skills have been passed to his son.. just imagine how phil must be feeling? A mixture of pride and sorrow because he will never play like that again.. PHIL, I SALUTE YOU!!♥️
I love you , my friend, you are the king. So many good tunes , I’m turning my son onto your songs .Susudio is the best crowd song ever written. Bar non best drummer last 50 years
A true inspiration for many this man is. One of his best songs, ever. Thanks for being apart of my life, for the many years, and inspiring many. True legends Phil Collins & Genesis are. Imagine if music, was still like this. What a time it would be.
I've watched and admire Phil most of my adult life. I am sad and happy at the same time to see this. Sad that he must drive himself to perform when clearly he has lost a lot, and happy to see his son carrying him on. And talk about like traits.. those faces and tongues on concentration :). It's amazing.
Awesome sight, to witness Phil watching his son, as if seeing himself years ago. Nic has been taught so well. Thank you for posting - wish I could have been there.

I think his son adores his father and he will become a very good drummer just like his dad and will follow in his footsteps and might even sing one day to and i really hope he sings to like his dad that would be second coming of another legend hopefully.
I don't think it's sad at all, I only wish I can grow old as gracefully and still have a purpose !!! Rock on phill !! Rock on !!! A pure example of how to age if one has too !!!

A living Legend. Pure love and Passion for music this man is, Phil Collins made my life much more fun and I thank him and all the musicians for this awesome experience of the thing called „Life“.
Phil was an amazing singer/ songwriter! They don't make'em like they used to. His son is also very talented. One of the most underrated drummers, in my opinion, is Chester Thompson who drums for Phil. He's a beast.
I've seen Phil in concert in different places and I've always loved his music style. For him to have his son with him on tour is totally awesome. He is a great father and role model for his son. All fathers should be a role model for their siblings be it son or daughter.

Non potendo seguire dal vivo i tuoi concerti,mi accontento di averti su youtube,ma l'emozione non manca..un batterista d'eccezione, una voce che prende l'emotività..che dirti.. sii sempre presente..noi ci siamo...grande,unico!!!
PHIL, I SALUTE YOU!!♥️
What a precious moment for Phil ,his son has definitely inherited his talent! Genesis /Phil Collins live are the absolute best!
LOVE how Phil was watching his son's drum solo ~~ beautiful !!
Phil must be so proud of his brilliant son, just watching him there...
Talented musicians, Phil Collins is a legend and he must feel so so proud of his son- but be a thrill for them to perform together.
Absolutely, can't believe how many comments saying this is sad, totally disagree !! I think it's an awesome !
Thank you Phil,....it's wonderful to see you up there.
God that was great❤❤❤ My First Ever Phil Collins Concert!!
I've watched and admire Phil most of my adult life. I am sad and happy at the same time to see this. Sad that he must drive himself to perform when clearly he has lost a lot, and happy to see his son carrying him on. And talk about like traits.. those faces and tongues on concentration :). It's amazing.
Nooossa que show 👏👏👏 dá vontade de estar aí maravilhoso, PHILL COLLINS FOREVER ❤️❤️❤️ AMOOOOOO ❤️🙏
Awesome sight, to witness Phil watching his son, as if seeing himself years ago. Nic has been taught so well. Thank you for posting - wish I could have been there.
Don't be surprised ok, it's true I don't usually do this. But the pandemic has really tore everything apart leaving lots of people depressed and sad. That's why am pasting my personal email address here via: philcollins0012@gmail.com to enable you share your opinions about my songs or send personal message you wish to share with me. I can't still appreciate everyone of you enough for the unconditional love and massive supports ❤️ it's because of you am here today. I hope you won't stop listening and supporting my songs.
Thanks once more and remember to stay safe ❤️
That was brilliant, great moment, let's not forget Phil was one of the best drummers on the planet so he must be proud of his son also gutted he can't do what he used to do.
A great moment tho.
sad to see him like that...but what a proud moment for him...the kid has skills and seems very humble
Happy Birthday Phil Collins! Been a blast enjoying your music, and what an inspiration you are with your music and Genesis. Wishing you all the best and to everyone a great year! Honestly, what a legacy you have, Inspiring many, like me since childhood. Have a great birthday legend! Sincerely, one of my fav tracks!
What would that be like to see your son play like that? Wow!!
I like to see the kiddo play along with Chester.....I'd cry like a baby seeing that.
Big up the backing singer's. These people never get the respect they deserve.
faith Davis They are all in the groove too! They are the VERY BEST!
(6:40) Wowww
Two Guys playing a "cajon peruano"
Excellent!
What was Phil playing, the thing he was drumming on?
Under Review Latin Percussion might have custom made that canon for him because I cannot find it anywhere

AWESOME!! His son is truly gifted, saw him play piano I want to hear him sing & he’s gorgeous to boot. I’m a great gramma & I still love the music I grew up on!!🤍🤍🕊🤍🤍
Not only Dad is proud.....But Chester has got to be smiling.
After watching this video, I went and watched another video of him when he’s younger. Then , I said “ there you are Phil maestro “

It makes me sad I'm a big time fan of Phil and this upsets me to see him in this way he will always be my no 1 such a great tallent
Quel talent Nick. 👍 Comme quoi et comme on dit: « les chiens ne font pas des 🐱 chats »! 👏 Bravo les gars.
For Phil, The Rolling Stones and other creative, famous people they must be out there!! If they still have a HUGE fan base that follows them, more power to them I say.
A living Legend. Pure love and Passion for music this man is, Phil Collins made my life much more fun and I thank him and all the musicians for this awesome experience of the thing called „Life“.
Just to say thank you phil .. the lyrics of ya songs 🎵 mean so much people around the world. God bless you ..
Phil Collins, you’re best ever of ballads music. I love you so much. From 🏴🇵🇹👏👌🏾💖
Wooaoo Nicholas Collins !!! Like his father real musician my respect for both of them!! ❤️❤️😮😮😮 love you so much
What a moment when Phil takes over & you hear him alone for a minute!
E The Lip Wow right!
seeing phils silouette there is sooo moving, could cry watching his son play like he used to.he is the image of a very young dad!
Miss going to concerts, saw this in Detroit and glad I finally got to see the artist that moved me with his songs in 1974 ... erogoist zones.
