The Great Muta is one of my Favorite Wrestlers of All-time! Between his innovative moves, his facepaint, his masks & ring wear, devil may care attitude, and the mist, he was the complete package!

I mean technically he was. He won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in 1993 in January against Masahiro Chono in a double championship match (Muta was IWGP Heavyweight Champion at the time) and held both of them before dropping the NWA World Heavyweight Championship to Barry Windham in late February that same year having about a month and a half long title reign. So while it isn't really the proper WCW Championship, it was the NWA-WCW Championship that would later become the WCW Championship and it was the Big Gold Belt as well so in my mind he counts. In my mind from 1988 when Turner Broadcasting brought the NWA until 2001 when Jericho unified it with the WWE Championship, it was the WCW Championship so yeah Great Muta is a former WCW Champion. Ditto with the WCW International World Heavyweight Championship, that is just a splinter of the legit World Championship so both Hiroshi Hase and Rick Rude are former WCW Champions in my mind as well

Gary Hart molded his character and style gradually in dark matches, he wanted a complete star ready for top cards seat filling attraction! Hart's promos vs Flair, he called Ricky, are so credible! Hart helped Muta be known by a wider audience and star revenue! Sting saw him becoming more favorite than him, he didn't want to share the top baby face spot!

When I was a kid in the late 80's and early 90's I loved Muta. I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't. Everything about him just worked. I wish he were given a bigger and longer push in WCW. He could have carried the strap as an unbeatable heel for a long time.

I remember when I first saw Muta in WCW. Sting was my hero, so I cheered for him, but I couldn't help to be amazed by Muta. Wrestlers didn't execute all types of moves like they do nowadays, and a young kid would never understand. Muta had the amazing paint, attire, mystique, and mist. Plus, he did things like I never saw such as the power drive elbow, moonsault, and that hand stand elbow in the corner. He was faster and more explosive than anyone I've seen at the time. He was way faster than the smaller Michael's. Most of the guys that came later that were more explosive were cruiserweights. Muta was the first, a real innovator.

I'm Puertorican, grew up in NY but traveled to the island often and I remember when Muta won the WWC TV and Heavyweight Title. I said to my self, man, this dude is awesome, then I started following NJPW through video tapes trade with a friend who lived in Japan and would send me tapes and fell in love with the promotion and what they stood for.

Ahh, Great Muta, what a fantastic wrestler - he had this special explosiveness in his move kit, very unique style, simply iconic - memories of my 1st wrestling matches on TV, was no that usual back in the 80s in my area - love that Wrestling Bio Video!

The Great Muta was the first wrestler I seen from Japan that was in WCW in the late 80s early 90s that was different and unique I never seen before at the time...

Yes, being a wrestling fan that had always heard about nWo japan, and also how wcw got the initial idea for the nWo from new japan, yet never getting opportunity to really dig into new japan being from the states, I NEED THE FOLLOW UP VIDEO WRESTLING BIOS! Keep up the fantastic work, BRUDDAH!

I remember that Clash 10 6 man tag match. That was also when the Horsemen turned on Sting to turn heel again, so the crowd started cheering for Muta in that match and even his teammates a little.
