The Hawk's great strength was its' engine.. The 2 1/4 litre long stroke engine was a direct development of the earlier side valve. It was reasonably powerful for its day at istr 78 bhp but its strength was tremendous low speed torque. It was also fairly quiet and surprisingly economical and above practically indestructible.

Back in the day I always wanted a Umber Awk. Then there was the even posher Umber Super Snape. Lovely cars.
Hawk was a better all round car than the Snipe
