We have that too! They call it fence post mix, doesn't even require water if there's moisture in the soil. We wanted to ensure consistent mix and strength. Probably over kill?
Quick set, or fence mix isn’t structural concrete. Structural support, piers need to be a minimum 20mpa. Bagged concrete has potential of having a 25mpa rating after 28 days of curing. I’m a little perplexed at how little concrete you poured into your pier holes.
Suggestion - run water piping under your slab for heat purposes. You flow warmed water through the system off a small water heater and pump and you have warm floors
Starting my build in just over a month in northern Nevada(60miles from Idaho). Watching you build close for ideas.. Love those posts, think I will do the same!!
@@AmbitionStrikes As I recall the US Army's process replacing the 6x6 Deuce, literally the NATO ground forces had gone to 4x4 flat front trucks already.

Future tip. To increase lifting capacity of excavator, remove the bucket. You lose out on a bit of flexibility for picking up stuff, but the weight of the bucket isn't zero. (and it's far away from the center). Plus putting straps by the pin is one of the strongest points.
What a great idea. Never heard of those columns before. Even in well drained soil I’m concerned my post building will eventually rot at the posts. So I tied in the wall framing built on the slab to the vertical posts to give it a little more structure. Like your method so much better. Shows where ideas have improved in last 2 decades.
They seem like a great solution for people who plan to turn a pole barn into more than just covered storage! We hope it will lengthen the lifespan of the building significantly.
Trout Creek Truss is a great company, they built my attic truss for my shop. Looks like you two are moving right along. Using those concrete piers are the right way to go. If you need scaffolding, nail guns, skillsaw or compressor let me know. I will Email you.
