- Kingdom Hearts 1 really might be one of the most special games in the history of gaming. From the nostalgia, to the timing, to the themes and lessons...it's the perfect childhood game! Let me know what other childhood games you loved in the comments!
Background Music:
Kingdom Hearts OST by Yoko Shimomura
Kingdom Hearts is what defined my early teen years. The game, gameplay, soundtrack, everything about it. It was my first game for the PS2, the time I had moved on from a GameBoy Color with Pokémon Gold, missing out the console period between the Super Nintendo and the beginning of the PS2's life cycle.
I still have the vivid memory of my freshman year in high school when one other student was curious to what I was listening to before class started. I was listening to Shrouding Dark Cloud on my mp3 player. He had asked if I listened to Night of Fate. I told him I got ahold of the entire soundtrack. So we both shared our experiences with the game.
Amazing! I love hearing perspectives from people who were teens when this came out too and not just little kids like myself at the time, you prob have a much more vivid perspective, it's undeniable that the impact spanned all age groups at that time!
Love this and the mp3 player unlocked a memory in me! By the time I was a teen I would use my mom's iPod nano haha
My only experience with KH as a kid was on a PS2 demo disc but I was still mesmerized by it, didn't actually play it in full until years later on the PS4 but still really enjoyed it (and the rest of the series)
That’s cool too! The final mix did a great job of revamping the graphical quality a little bit, kind of a similar story with me where I had some demos of really old Zelda games on GameCube
What a magic video! Just came across your channel but you hooked me so hard. You perfectly encapsulated the impact this game had on people. I’m 26 but still hearing you describe the different levels while the themes played in the background made me teary eyed. Even your voice over kind of reminded me of Sora’s voice over at the intro of the first two games. Kingdom hearts just hits different. Thanks for sharing this video 💜
What a touching comment, you have no idea how much that means to me. I’m so glad you enjoyed the video and what you expressed is all I can hope to get across with my content, and my voice reminding you of Sora is so flattering! Kingdom Hearts really is special, and I plan to make more vids in the future on other games in the franchise as well 😁
Yeah, I love Kingdom Hearts. The first game Really shaped my childhood a lot, I played a lot of games of the PS2 Era, but that game is special.
For real! It just hits different for some reason, it’s has some kind of extra nostalgic magic
I didn’t get a chance to play it as a kid, but it did shape 16-year-old teenage me, and it left an impact in my life I still love the series, and it’s a big inspiration for one of my stories I wrote that I want to become a manga/anime one day my favorite is Kingdom hearts 1 and I’ll always find the organization 13 villains the coolest bad guys 😂
Haha this is great! Yeah I know I mentioned kids in the video but it really spans to teens as well, and in fact when I started getting into KH2 and the other spinoffs was leaning toward my tween/teen years
For me it was Final Fantasy 4 Advance.
Kingdom Hearts 2 was not too long afterwards.
Even though I knew nothing about KH1 or CoM at the time, Roxas' story and Sora's flashbacks got me to feel for both of them, and kept me hooked on the story.
Yeah I think there’s something about Roxas intro in KH 2 that makes that game special, deff wanna do a KH2 vid at some point, love these memories tho!
Kingdom Hearts was magical. To meet your favorite characters as basically yourself was mind blowing.
That’s precisely it! Sora was all of us, and his relationships with the characters wasn’t just believable, but immersive and natural as well
My first game that I really enjoyed was Mario although I didn’t start reading kingdom hearts manga until I was 14 it influenced how I saw manga and anime it was my first manga and I never really forgot how it got me excited to pick up a manga and I would take that experience and have it over and over again with every new manga and anime and I’ll always treasure kingdom hearts manga especially chain of memories which started it all for me
The KH manga was underrated! I remember reading those as a kid when I was super obsessed
@@thoughtsfromtheshower I know it’s so great such a shame that most of kingdom hearts 3 volumes 3 and 4 are mostly in Japanese, German and French it’s also a shame that it hasn’t been translated into other languages yet either
This video game is a tribute to my childhood of all the favorite Disney fairytale musicals that I enjoyed as a kid including an original that I loved know as The Lion King that I loved singing from those lyrics to. I use to remember watching a movie called Who Framed Roger Rabbit that dealt with the atmosphere of live-action and animation combined. Until, I discovered something that would introduce me to JRPG’s like this that would soon introduce me to the Final Fantasy series, because of the cameos that I was introduced to. It was a blast and I give them credit for that! 🤘😎
Awesome! Yeah and something I didn’t mention was the inclusion of those final fantasy characters which was also unbelievable haha who would thought!
@@thoughtsfromtheshower I have played the first seven entries along side X & XII, making it a total of nine, VI from the SNES and VII on the first PlayStation console are my personal favorite entries, I have a thing for dark fantasies, after reading various novels from High-Fantasy novelists.
Kingdom Hearts is the number one reason why I am a loyal Disney fan (with Pixar coming at a close second) because without it, I wouldn’t have been interested in most Disney stuff anymore! Awesome video btw!
Thank you! And that’s awesome, it’s funny cause I was a Disney fan and I feel like KH was my gateway into anime and final fantasy and JRPGS and stuff 😂
I remember watching kingdom hearts playthrough when i was 6 or 10 idk i bearly knew english it was thanks to that game and kh2 that i found passion in learning english
That’s awesome! The KH content truly went across the globe, I remember those playthroughs!
I remember walking through the gaming section at so many places and seeing kingdom hearts and just wishing I could get it! I grew up on Disney, all the movies, going to Disney world sooo many times as a kid growing up, and to this very day I continue to watch and love classic Disney movies and love every magical moment me and my family have at Disney world! I would see these two boys, one with spiked back white hair and the other with big old Mickey Mouse shoes and I’d just look over and over at them front cover to back and just wonder what it’s story was, what it felt like to go through those Disney movies I watched but with the ability to interact and actually make friends with the characters! It wasn’t till KH3 came out that I finally was able to play and I started with kingdom hearts 3 and played for a little while and was so amazed I immediately quite the game and went to the store and bought the remakes of every kingdom hearts game so I could experience every little thing sora had gone through, every Disney world, every moment of love and loss!!! Now I’m absolutely obsessed with Kingdom Hearts and can’t stop!!!
That’s so awesome! I totally agree, having grown up with these movies I couldn’t believe how well this all worked together even being such a crazy concept in the first place! I feel like this is one of those once in a lifetime franchises that affects everybody on such a a deep and nostalgic level…one of the best of all time for sure!!!
Kingdom Hearts and Devil May Cry 3
Devil May Cry 3 is goated, deff plan on making a DMC vid at some point
For me, my childhood games where Spyro, Crash and Megaman Legends(PS1) Star Fox and Bomberman( Nintendo 64) but to say that Kingdom Hearts was not THE game for me would be a huge disservice, I remember when I got my copy of it back in Christmas 2002( 6th grade) and ever since then, I’ve been a fan and follower lol.
Haha truth! I loved Spyro crash and the other games I mentioned in the beginning of the vid as well, but this game made me feel different and stuck differently with me, prob cause it was a bit deeper
This video was so good! You got to make more
Thank you! And you already know, plan on making at least one vid a week, and deff more KH vids in store 🙏
I thoroughly enjoyed your video. I never got to play kingdom hearts but it's such a classic game with beautiful music. It's one of those games that stay with you and build your love for gaming.
I really appreciate that, and that’s cool too! That’s the other thing I actually wanted to mention, is that even people who didn’t play it were still impacted by it, the game had such a mystical and unique feel to it that’s kind of hard to describe. Awesome comment!
this game defines my teen area right all kh games are my favorite games
FACTS it really defined my early childhood and tweens pretty much
i was in my teens when kh 1 was released. the games that i remember the most as a kid when it comes to video games was a bugs life and treasure cove.
I had that bugs life game I think! Idk why we all had that game too 😂
Kingdom Hearts literally shaped my entire personality as a kid. I totally agree that it shaped my moral compass
someone who relates! I felt the same way which is why I had to put out this video
@@thoughtsfromtheshower it also made me so happy when I found out Skrillex was making the theme for KH3 knowing he was a fan the vibes were just there the whole time
For a kid that was born in the mid 2000’s, i was lucky enough to play kingdom hearts 2 on my uncle’s ps2, albeit until the end of the prologue back when i was 7-8.
Always a blessing for anyone to play KH 2 at that age, I think that's around when I played it too
Mario Kart Double Dash was my earliest memories of playing video games
Yeah buddy! Loved Mario kart DS
@@thoughtsfromtheshower that was my first game on my old pink ds!!
Beautiful Video!
Thank you!
I'm not crying. You're crying. ;-;
Honestly though! It’s the soundtracks that do it the most
I got Kingdom Hearts at a christmas party at a local Boys and Girls Club. I had to wait a week to play because I didn't have the Dual Shock 2 controller.
Edit: if you lock off the enemy and press Triangle to call whoever is helping you from attacks, you can sometimes hear them yell, "Don't Give Up!!".
That is so cool! Kingdom hearts spanned every group of people I swear that is so awesome, and I didn’t know that I gotta look into that command if that’s true cause that’s a cool detail to catch!
Haha nah man Im even further back than that. For me its either Leggo of Zeggo: Ocarina of Time or Pokemon Red
Haha yeah those are still great though, I was around for them but was kinda young
I was all of the above
Yup me too!
KH1 Best+++
KH2 is my favorite overall, but KH1 has some special magic to it
Goated franchise
Facts! In my top 3 of all time
KH2 is peak🗣
It’s in my top 3 games of all time, couldn’t stop replaying it as a kid
@@thoughtsfromtheshower it's definitely my most replayed in all the series
You sound like aleczandxr
Kingdom hearts was cool, until i found out what the key, the lock, and the heartless means as a christian and i never looked back. Wonderful music though.
