I'm not entirely sure, but I think you might be misunderstanding how a mechanic works. When you release a 3-level border and a timer appears above your character you can press the release button again to do a bullet cancel, no need to wait until you can release again or the timer runs out.
Yeah but doing that makes you not get gold fragments and it also breaks your chain. Which is worse for maximizing fragments and time from what I understand.
tfw i didn't get the scoring system at all until i watched this, wondering why i never got any lives, and why even hard modo is kicking my ass, never mind lunatic lmao "why does pressing the bomb key drain my entire meter? that seems really counterproductive when i can just dodge and abuse the 3 lives for the price of 1" also fun fact: you can fast-forward dialogue by holding left control in this, because this fangame is good and understands that players don't like having their time wasted :p
@@JaimersSTG Border timer stalled to prevent cancels in spells. But for every boss's final spell, there's a window between clearing the spell and when "SPELL CARD BONUS" pops up. Maybe you are right. I have reported this to the devs but it might not be fixed (this is a minor glitch that doesn't affect survival after all).

I will forever miss the stage 3 boss second nonspell not having its timer tied to the music, it was one of the neatest parts of it in my opinion

Most fan games that don't have left ctrl for skipping dialogue just let you hold z instead
