I've been do some research to purchasing a new ebike. My first ebike was a china DIY that was installed on a mountain bike. 40 mph was fun and a bit scary. If you did this I would purchase this ebike and your kit. Thanks for your work!
YES!! Get this done I want an upgraded controller so freaking bad , definitely will purchase because this is a great bike and this is just what it needs. Let us know if and when it's available..Can't wait.
Thanks Citizen! Yes. As a Magicycle 52V owner I would want an upgraded controller for sure as that bike only has a 22amp controller/display (now they are providing a 25amp controller I believe because their watts and nm are up from when I bought my Cruiser Pro in ‘21) A 35 or 40amp controller should unlock the Magicycle powerful 750w motor and make hill climbing a breeze. I also own a ‘24 Wired Freedom and appreciate all of your videos for that bike!! Take care,
This is awesome! I would love to be able to have 30mph with everything functioning! I just got an Aventon 2 and put it together. Looking forward to riding it. I'm a big fan of the turn signals.
I’m all in for it if you decide to go with it 👍 hopefully you get lots of requests for this. If it affect turn signals, Bluetooth, etc like you mentioned, those things will be an afterthought. Getting more speed with just throttle only is my cup of coffee 👍 thanks for this
It’s very interesting, and I’d love to see more. I will say, in a lot of places, throttle is regulated to 20 MPH due to state laws regarding e-bikes. One thing I’d like to do to mine is upgrade to a bigger battery for longer range.
Thanks for the info. I would only want to change the top off speed when pedaling to mid forties on my black step through. So I can keep up with city traffic. Other than that I really like the bike. Your original review of this bike, helped to make a decision to purchase it.
I would have interest. I have the aventure1 but so far there are similar connections etc to the aventure 2. Plus I would like use exiting 48 v batteries since owning 3. Hopefully its just the controller throttle and display to minimize the cost and finally get into developer options to change a few things
I hope there's a kit coming soon because that's something that I would love to have and I would definitely get it as soon as I can see it that it is available I have a few friends of mine that would be definitely interested in that down here
Love all the time and effort you put into these bikes for us. One of these days maybe they or you could put a Tesla type launch mode on one of these ebikes. I can't get that thought out of my mind ever since you mentioned it on your Tesla ride.
I have an aventure 1.0. I really like the bike and I pedal 95% of the time, but having said that, who doesn't want more power? I have 1 particular hill I climb where I use PAS 5 1st gear and everything I have to get up it, so more power would be awesome. More importantly to me, would be the ability to customize the PAS setting for speed or power. A 30 or 35 amp controller and a customizable screen would make my day. I'm seriouly considering selling my bike and buying something else but I would keep it if I could upgrade it. Love you videos
it could be a cool idea to have some kind of universal kit based on voltage requirements that is independent of any specific model. the wiring harness would be key to making all this plug and play. have a way to have different connection options depending if it's higo connector or whatnot.
YES YES YES, juice needs to be let loose. Need to keep pace w/ my buddys Freesky when riding trails, the extra power would be great. I have an Aventon Aventure(1st gen)
I have not moved forward with this. I didnt think the tiny Aventon battery could handle that strong of a controller, and using this KT Controller would eliminate the torque sensor for pedal assist.
Aventon fan here, kinda. Have ridden 7,000 mikes on my Aventon Soltera. It’s small and light, but trouble free. Still looks great. Gotta have 28 on throttle which this doesn’t come close to. Been begging Aventon to make a 28 throttle bike. Crickets. Jumped on your video hoping it was just a display swap. But no, too many changes and still not a big battery. Heck - screw Aventon and their good looking quality bikes - I’ll buy something else with 28+ out of the box. Citizen - thanks for trying.
I've been looking a lot lately to find the best choice for my car replacement. So far the Wired Freedom ticks all of the boxes for me. And the Wired Cruiser if you prefer stepthrough frames. I haven't bought mine yet but will do so soon. It might be something to look at to replace your Aventon.
I would be interested in a controller upgrade for a Level.2 - no need to worry about turn signals, just brake lights/headlights, plus I don't care about bluetooth, but the torque sensor would be great. Either way, nice job!
Very interesting. The Aventure is a nice bike. You can have your controller work with the torque sensor and lights. You would probably need to have your controller mount on the rack like your test build here. I don't think you could get a 35 amp controller that will fit in the bottom bracket housing. Even if you could find one that fit, it would get pretty hot in there. I like Aventons, but I don't know if the Aventure is a good early candidate for your upgrades. It seems bikes like Himiway, Magicycle, or Kepler could allow you to start with simpler kits that would plug and play. Getting the wires and connectors from your controller to the Aventon wiring harness inside the bottom bracket will take some creativity. Your controller would make the Aventure climb a little better, but it seems like removal of the 20 throttle limit is what people mostly want. Maybe you should investigate selling new or reflashed displays that use the standard controller but fix the throttle on something like an Aventure.
I would absolutely want one!!! Would you be able to walk consumer through installation? I don't use my turn signals. Also I didn't even know about blue tooth
I'd be interested in a different controller for my bike. Maybe there could be a mode where if you have two batteries hooked up it could change the speed or something too.
I love what you are doing with upgrades! I currently have a himiway cobra, and would love to see something I could use to upgrade my bike to compete with the wired and 5 start, even though that is probably asking too much, but if it works that would be awesome to have the option
I would not want one. The Aventure 2 is too nice as is. You find a way to swap out controller on it and have everything works as stock except for more speed I’m in.
Great video. Any future plans to upgrade a controller and display for a Aventon Level 2 with unrestricted throttle. I have a Bafang BBS02 and thought of removing it from a Trek bike and installing on the Aventon and change voltage settings for the controller to 48v from a 52v setup. Thank you, Scott
I have not moved forward with a controller upgrade. I dont think the tiny Aventon battery could handle that strong of a controller, and using this KT Controller would eliminate the torque sensor for pedal assist.
@CitizenCycle925 I plan on going back to cadence sensor due to health issues. I have Level parts in cart at Aventon website. Just reviewing other options before I purchase. Thank you
There is something really satisfying about riding a PEV that is not speed restricted by software. I hate bouncing off a software imposed speed limit.. Hitting a mechanical or electrical limit just feels better..
Is that beautiful blue color a certain year time frame of these bikes or what?! The controller would be a good addition especially if it can be used to further range or performance and choose which one
also if you make a new controller, it may be worth optional replacement throttle and cadence sensor hardware (for aventure 1) since people have been having problems with responsiveness that may not be fully explained by software issues, though from my limited understanding, I bet software would probably fix these problems enough for most people, rendering the throttle and sensor hardware a non-issue.
It would be awesome if they gave The aventure three more speed and more battery options! Like seriously, my dude.I do hope you make a range.Extender at the very least , but this with the controller with more power , so more throttle option is also great like u could make it a second option! Like seriously, my only gripe with the adventure too.Is the battery everything else is perfect The stability and fact that it still feels like a bicycle with more heft! If you could make these kits before I wonder up getting g a second bike thats built for long range that would be awesome! Hell I still want the front motors kit for this bike!
🐍 PLEASE CREATE for us Grizzly guys a plug & play programmable 52v 40A controller that fits under the seat. Front controller should be able to nerf the torque at low speeds to fix wheel spin. We love our Ebike's but want just a little more uuumph upto 40mph‼️ 🖖🤙
I’d be interested in what you can do to my Aventon abound, I’d like to maintain the OEM battery and parallel it with a second one through a combiner - I already have the dateX2 30 amp combiner. I’d like to eliminate my 32 km an hour top speed on throttle and do better than that, I’d also like to maintain my torque sensor. I’m completely OK with tossing my present controller and display.
Think a 30a controller would be fine. I believe the issue lies with the factory gauge wiring of a 48v system. It's too much amperage for the smaller wires
Aventure.2 is definitely NOT a more hackable bike. There are very few upgrade options for any ebike in the market. I would either just buy a bike with great performance out of the box, or just buy something dirt cheap and mod it to what you want.
@@CitizenCycle925 thank you, I was assuming that Aventure was one of the least hackable/mod-able e-bikes, so I now I am curious why you choose that for this experiment and resulting video. I am guessing that the popularity of Aventure was the motivation and I totally applaud that :-) What would be the “base model” that you would recommend for folks that want more “mod-ability”. Just start from a Wal-mart bike plus Bafang kit as a starting point?
I cant speak for your controller, but some have the abilty to adjust the low voltage point....so that it would not think the battery is low and shut down. Just a thought.
The tail light the brake light will be important but the headlight you can buy an aftermarket headlight that straps onto the handlebars that you can recharge in your house remove it from your handlebars use it as a regular flashlight and that would be a brighter light and better light that's what I like to use
As Bryan mentioned, he doesn't know what the BMS is in the battery pack. Generally, they have a limit to the amount of amps that they will produce from the battery. Without that knowledge which should be available with some digging, there's no point in changing the controller and display.
If I get a adventure 2, I will give powerful lithium in New Jersey a call to get around the 20 mph throttle limit and have them add another battery on the rear rack.
The controller doesn't have to fit inside the frame it can sit in a different location as long as there's enough wire to reach inside the frame to connect to the harness going up do the handlebars and the battery in the frame and the back wheel motor connector I wish there was an adapter that could fit many different bikes
Bryan I already put your warp drive kit on the front of my Aventon… so how would this integrate?…and absolutely I would want one I’ve been asking you about this for quite sometime..and mine is a cadence sensor and no turn signals
Yes the battery meter button on the battery shows full green bars and stays lit. Display either turns off instantly or don't turn on at all. Ancheer sunshine I believe the bike is called 2024 version

Yes I would love to upgrade my bike price ?? Or what do you need from me

Did you make one?
I'm definitely in.
how about a grizzly controller upgrade that can use duel 60v or 72v batteries, I would pay for that!!

My battery is fully charged display shows is dead and shuts off instantly. Any ideas? Need new battery?
@jessejohnson98 when you push the power button on the side of the battery, does it stay lit? And of course double check all connections.
Yes the battery meter button on the battery shows full green bars and stays lit. Display either turns off instantly or don't turn on at all. Ancheer sunshine I believe the bike is called 2024 version
Has g51 lcd display
@jessejohnson98 oh, i thought you had an Aventon. I would check power supply connections. Any chance the display got wet, sometimes that will cause a similar issue.
I think that is a bad idea because this bike is all about the torque sensor I had that bike and it is a great bike to pedal
Throttle only also kills the battery faster, so you get less range.

A 52V battery (14s) tops out @ 58.8 volts.
Learn about the rx and tx wires of the display. There are only 5 wires on an ebikes display. You could likely just buy sw900 displays and try to find a matching connect to plug and pay. The sw900 allows you to set amps and top speed.
Caution, the earliest sw900 displays only allowed 20amp max. Newest ones can adjust to 50amps...
RX (green) and TX (yellow) wires are info in and out respectively. The red and black wires are high voltage + & -
Lastly, the blue is 5v I think?
Also,
The Aventon display will likely have same red and black, but you can open the controller to get the other corresponding colors. The pcb is usually marked for RX and TX
Take my money, please 🙂
I honestly think the Aventure 2 is an amazing bike.. but the fact that you Cannot break the speed limiter without replacing 2 of the 3 main components kinda makes it a no go for anyone who wants to go slightly faster.
