  • Exploring Alexander Pope's brilliant lines about how limited knowledge can be dangerous!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Welcome to the "Hickok45 Talks" Channel. This channel is a place for me to just pontificate about random topics that somebody out there might find interesting. I will talk about firearms issues quite a lot, but I'll also exercise my license to talk about any topic I might pretend to know something about.
If you have a topic you'd like me to address, let me know. Doesn't mean I'll address it, but who knows, I might.
Thanks for your support, and I hope you'll subscribe to all three of our channels and keep up with all the brilliance here!!! :-)
    / @hickok45 - Our main channel.
/ @hickok45clips - Our channel where John pulls clips from our existing library of videos.
/ @hickok45talks - This channel where all material is new material where I talk about one specific topic in each relatively short video. Hope you enjoy.

Lots of people confuse information with knowledge and wisdom. We have no shortage of information, but true knowledge and wisdom are much more scarce.

I think the problem is that we don't know what to do with the information we have access to or to know the difference between real and false information or how the information is presented.

@@DemosKratos you can pick something to learn a lot more about and overcome mediocrity. Be so good that you don't need to slave for anyone but yourself. but yup, you're still a slave. As long as you think so.

@@TheFlutecart you'd still be a slave doesnt change the fact that you are a slave sadly even if you are a ceo in a coroporation or the janitor in it.the system is broke we need to live like animals freely till then we' are nothing more than slaves for the order.

I think you need to build an outhouse behind that bear. Carve a half moon in the door. Then when folks ask "Does a bear shit in the woods?" You can take them out to the woods and ask them to figure it out. Good tape, Greg.

knowledge is very dangerous. I advise everyone to pursue knowledge. Knowledge allows you to think critically and that will allow you to be free. Know enough to know that you don't know enough about something to admit it and listen to someone else.

I remember Neil deGrasse Tyson touching on this a couple years ago, and there was even a meme created where he said something in the order of "thinking you know enough about a subject that you think you are right about something, but not knowing enough about the subject to know that your conclusion is wrong".

This problem exists in people who have a little bit of knowledge, for example, about the American Civil War. They learn a bit, stop learning, are self-satisfied, and close their minds to new information.

There must be an angel that watches over people when they learn a little bit about something and try something WAY beyond their level and yet amazingly get away with it when they never should have. Not always though. Some.pay a high price for it. But not knowing how how difficult or impossible something is sometimes makes it more possible somehow.
