I had an NDE years back and had that realization of only one being, it was utterly astonishing and astounding to say the least. You literally are the only one running your entire show/existence. I wish I could feel that in my everyday life!! It dissipated over time.
@Green-Dragon206 Doesn’t mean I’m not either. Last year while coming down from a mushroom expedition I walked into my kitchen and viscerally understood there’s quite literally only 1 of us here. I laughed and laughed. The mind got a hold of that and later turned it into something sad, lonely and ultimately very unpleasant. I can say today I don’t know. I Am, seems anything after that is added, made up, imagined and or delusion.

@Green-Dragon206 "I AM" is not at all focusing only on ourselves. Living from the rootedness of BEING, knowing who we really are, leads to much less divisiveness and discord. "I AM" is not conceptual at all and is beyond the mind and it's egoic antics. There is no "Gods", that is the other thing that was clear in the NDE. I saw that ALL religions and it's "Gods" are man made. There is no separate entity called "God" that controls everything, hands out rewards, punishments or judgments. Humans made various projections from the mind and call them "Gods". They are as real as Santa Clause. To know yourself is to know God and to know God is to know yourself for they are inseparable. BEING, is "God". God is not a great word to use because it is so loaded. It brings up too many conceptualizations.

To the questioner...if you have difficulty with this than try seeing it as ONLY HE IS...this will help you dissolve your personality or ego and also know the I AM is a form of energy which runs in everything, because of which all are conscious. So eventually it will happen only he is...this doubt arises because we can't comprehend that how come me I am be so vast and powerful...❤
How can you identify with I am? Identification is becoming a thing. I am is nameless and formless. It's the force within that every-thing emanates from. To identify with I am is like saying my higher self and not the higher Self. The reason it is hard to grasp is because you don't exist and the ego can't comprehend that. To think about not existing is still existing. This is why it cannot be experienced in concept and only experienced in experience. Jimmy Hendricks said are you experienced? Have you ever been experience?

'I am' refers to the ego. 'I...I...I' refers to the consciousness which seems to say , I am here manifested and in the next second indicates it is not there as it has not manifested, just like a computer prompt. Whether manifest or not, it is there always, one like in samadhi and the other up and ready for a jaunt in the world. whatever is ready for the jaunt is caught up in samsara, limited, and the other totally free and unlimited. Our goal is to reach the unlimited and hence the pursuit after silence. You may call this unlimited Consciousness a god, but it is not bothered one bit what you call it. It just is.
God did speak to Moses when he appeared in the burning bush and to Moses's question "what is your name", God replied, "I Am that I Am"! This God name is ascribed to 1 or Unity in the Kabbalah. ALONE = AL (a Name of God) + ONE/Unity . I Am is indeed One and One Alone.

I do wish this was a little more rigorously fleshed out in terms of empty individualism and open individualism... I understand Spira takes the open individualist account axiomatically, but you can reach awakening without it! Just look at the Buddha, an empty individualist and critic of those who see all as one Being. We need a physics (or metaphysics) of awareness to make definite claims between Advaita and Buddhist views on Being(s).
Of course, Rupert expounds on “I Am,” to make it understandable. However, on its face, it is problematic. Because, almost everybody considers the “I” to be ego. So, unless you are reading the Bible where God says, “I Am,” in common parlance, it will always cause great confusion. And, it’s been around in religious works for thousands of years, and most have problems utilizing it. Joel S. Goldsmith used “God Is.” The ego is contrived. Of course it feels like a living entity. But, it is a false contrived assumed creation, and, it is referred to as “I,” in common parlance. In my humble opinion, “I” is a dangerous very confusing term when applied to these spiritual discussions. “Spirit,” denotes that which underlies everything that is seen, and there is only one Spirit, essence, and everything derives its apparent life from that one Spirit, and everything dissolves back into that one Spirit. So, only Spirit/Emptiness has reality. It never changes, yet it spews out illusions for entertainment, until the entertainment for us devolves into horror, sabotage, false pain, fear, worry, beliefs. Then we learn to no longer trust forms, and meditate on Spirit/Essence/Changelessness/Emptiness/Christ/Oneness, et cetera. Or, in the alternative, if you still like “I Am,” it must be understood that “I=God,” and there is no “you” or small “i.”
@Green-Dragon206 yes, these meditation exercises are preparation for realization. They methodically wear away our grasp of ideas, beliefs, notions. They weaken the structure of the ego. They lead to other major assaults on the ego beyond words and thoughts. When those blasts hit, they leave the ego discombobulated. It will struggle to reintegrate itself, but always with less stability. Weaker and weaker slowly the ego disintegrates. A few more blows and he is shattered beyond repair. And, life goes on with very little faith in the ego. Spirit becomes more apparent as the pilot in control.
@Green-Dragon206 it’s the age-old spiritual problem of inspiration giving birth to a spiritually alive method. Followed by attachment to that method becoming mere idol worship.
What about Teilhard's observation that in order for the creator to be greater than the creation (which obviously includes the experience of our individual selves) the creator must be personal--indeed, hyper-personal? Thus Jesus called the creator Abba, an intimate word for father. Thus Pascal''s note, sewn into his clothes, pointing us toward the personal god of the Jews and away from the impersonal god of the philosophers. Here is where much of Eastern religion differs from much of Western religion, though, I suspect, both have a grasp of paradoxical aspects of the same elephant.
In Advaita; God with attributes like Omniscient, Omnipresent, all powerful etc, is the personal God. On the other hand; God without attributes is the impersonal God. Both are the One God, it’s only the view point that differs.
