Anywho the movie is lit new favorite
I do miss Slice of Life plots in animation I mean the last thing I remember was that underrated gem downtown that only had 13 episodes on MTV.
So with this movie aside from the amazing and I mean amazing animation you want to see these two characters win in their specific fields not to mention be together even though there's trials and tribulations which happens in any blossoming relationship
i just watched it and dude this was chef's kiss animation its official who the big 3 of animation is: spider man into the spiderverse, arcane and now this movie right here this is art and im glad i got to experience it
Amazing 2nd Favorite movie of all time
I loved how incredibly genuine and passionate this project is. It felt like an arthouse film that just so happens to be from a hip-hop artist.

Seriously there's needs to be more adult animated shows like this. I swear it's so great and refreshing to watch black characters, especially in animation just living their lives and showcasing black joy / love as well as just being more than just the still at times stereotypical stuff that Hollywood still likes to do with black people. Entergalactic is such a nice day-in-the-life mature animated movie that's I definitely appreciate for its stunning art style also its positive showing of Black love and simplicity of its storytelling that still well done.

This movie ruled so hard. Just wish it had a larger budget to hide some of the more stilted animation. That said... when the movie hit it fucking HIT. So many gorgeous sequences that got me in my feelings

Shit was beautiful it really captured black love in a pure light and black men in a pure light. When jabari went to his exes house it was pure he genuinely was just trying to help which directly goes against the status quo of black men being conquered by lust and bad behavior

Entergalactic immediately became my favorite movie after my first watch. The music, the animation, the art style, the story. It was everything i ever wanted and i could really feel the chemistry between the two main characters.
Absolutely amazing.
I loved this film but my biggest gripe is that it felt like it left a lot of thematic material on the table. If it had another 15-20 minutes of runtime to explore the concepts of love, identity, art, and commercialism, I think it could've been absolutely incredible.
Same I wanted to know more about Mr rager and his backstory. Also what he means to jabari and how he struggled to get him published at his new job. I was thinking it would tie in better with his love life, but I don't think it did all that much.

@@Silver01Son I think the Mr. Rager stuff makes more sense if you know more about Kid Cudi. His second album is called Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager which gets more into stuff like addiction.
Yeah when I first put this on Netflix I thought it was just a long pilot to a series lol. This would definitely make a great show.

Since I’m ace-aro, it usually takes a lot of chemistry and quality character-writing for me to get invested in a romance story, (let alone a cishet one) but this absolutely worked for me! Never been in love myself, but I imagine that the way this movie visualizes the feeling is pretty accurate.

I never understood why I enjoyed the show so much. "Slice of Life" is the best explanation it felt real and it felt relatable!
This movie really hit me because this movie relate to me wayyy to much. For one, dude looks like me same hair style, skin color, except my beards thicker. His ex looks just like mines, and meadow is a girl that’s most definitely my type. He even said the same exact thing to his ex i once said to mines. This easily became my favorite movie tbh
I really liked Entergalactic and I normally don't even watch or care about romantic comedies (see Patton Oswalt's bit on romantic comedies as my reason). I thought the humor was great, the characters and story were all so well written and the humor was great as it wasn't outlandish or over the top for the most part but also wasn't lacking. This is also why I think Netflix needs to focus more on animation than live-action. I like a lot of their live action projects, but their animation projects usually have more compelling stories and seem to be way more original in their concepts.
I see the little pettiness of misunderstanding is the main aim. So many people under sell how big the little things are especially when it comes to growing romantic. Not everyone tries to fix misunderstandings but majority complain of being romantically unfulfilled. It like that about the film, how it says make an effort for who you want (within reason obvs 😅) nothing is easy.

I can't tell you how many times I've watched this. The soundtrack captures the essence of accidentally finding, understanding, intertwining, loosing and recapturing.
In the way that Into the Spider-Verse was a love letter to the Spider-Man comics (the same way I see No Way Home as a love letter to the Spider-Man movies), Entergalactic was a love letter to love. I was constantly captivated by the animation throughout, so I just assumed some of the crew from Spider-Verse had to have worked on it lmao honestly though I've never seen a passion project from a creator like this. I hope Kid Cudi continues to pursue projects like these, it was inspiring all around. I hope we get more movies or TV shows like this.
I think this shows a lot of realism in relationships
From the first time I've seen previews of this movie I was instantly reminded of into the spider-verse and I love that movie to death not only cuz the great story characters but the animation was just a delight.
So with this it was a no brainer to check it out and I got to say it was pretty fun to watch

Just finished watching this amazing movie. The way Jabari character was respectful and level-headed the whole movie. Especially when dealing with the misunderstanding surrounding the picture Carmen sent.

Also! The ex had a very "basic" vibe. In the scene after they leave the bar she asks Jabari to take her picture- while when he is with Meadow ahe takes HIS picture!
Carmon is the girl you date from 16-26 (since Jabari said he knew her for 10 years) and Meadow is the girl you date in your mid/late 20s and marry!
As a lover of Spider-verse, this immediately grabbed my attention, and I thought it was a pretty good movie. It's also a reminder of why I'm aromantic. The whole notion of being in a relationship terrifies me, and everything about this shows why.
Weekenders was another great slice of life series. The whole vibe of that show was chill as fuck
My favourite part is probably Jabari's conversation with his sister. When she basically says the whole thesis of the film.
People compare this to spiderverse, but it was by no means the style that inspired the look of the show. It was inspired by a movie called 'I lost my Body'.

It's a simple story that doesn't try to be more than what it is.
I keep checking daily to see if this is in Netflix's top 10. But people are sleeping on it.

It was a love story- and told beautifully and simply. If you remove their race, city, occupations, or place in time it STILL translates perfectly.
Anyone whos ever dated can relate to it and thats what truly makes it great!
9/10 would recomend!

Kind of sad that this got overshadowed by Cyberpunk Edgerunners. But I’m happy for the two since they were made by black creators.
Some viewers have praised the movie for not having lgbt characters. Its a shame that some people gatekeep the black romance drama by being exclusively straight and categorizing other sexualities as nonexistent.

Cudi most likely based this film on his own life experiences. He probably just didn't have any gay friends during that chapter of his life.

I'm obsessed with this movie! One of my favorites, and definitely my favorite from 2022! It is such a vibe. And the animation, the characters, the romance, the music... absolutely incredible!
Felt like they were trying to say something about dating online with the dating app that kept popping up in the background, but maybe I’m overthinking?

The story telling scenes in an urban reminded me of MTV’s Downtown. I wish that show would come back with the same animated team. Now that would be awesome.

Yeah I think a lot of times aesthetic is not considered enough by film makers especially those where the story is non-fantastical and “just a love story” and it should discussed more by critics as well.

Movie of the year
I really enjoyed Entergalactic, especially seeing the animations (like the Spider-Verse movies) and the writing of main leads. It is a perfect animated movie about positive and racial romance.
what we are not mentioning is they recreated the into the spiderverse artstyle you know how hard that is? took me 2 years to figure it out
I tried to find movies that at least have the same animation style , and all there is forreal is Spider-Man. I will love for them to make this a series or another movie, but a part of me is scared cuz I feel like it can ruin the story or magic it already created

My main problems with the movie is the fact the MC tells his ex that he can't be with anyone right now yet unironically has a love at first sight moment with the other woman.
If you just don't like your partner anymore don't have s3x with them and tell them that you can't be with anyone else at the moment. That's ridiculous and completely unfair to the ex!
They didn't even provide reasons for why they broke up, it would've been interesting as heck if she held him down from his goals but the new chick inspired him to be better.
The way that the MC fails to explain to female Cudi that she wasn't with his ex s3xually is so bizarre. All he had to say was that he was there taking care of a rat problem.
Other than that the movie was mostly good to me. If only the MC wasn't so stupid and cowardly then it would've been great.

@@Mannof1000Thoughts I never used to like romance movies but since watching these ones it made me fall in love with them (ha get it), I love how grounded and natural they feel. This is helped a lot by having good characters and actors but also they both use art as their driving forces, for example, they both use art to create interesting and dynamic backgrounds as well as a great understanding of colour theory which drives the story alongside the characters. What makes them stand out amongst other romance movies is how they centre black love and black culture, which is considered different because it is so underrepresented. I cant wait to see what else is inspired by these movies.
