In her latest Aviation-Thriller "DOWNING", written by "T. J. Newman", before an Airbus A321 of the fictional "Coastal Airways Flight 1428" crashed into the waters of Molokai island, initally this flight was sheduled from HNL to SFO too. The hero of this thriller, Mr. Will Kent, her 8-year old daughter Shannon and her wife Chris have had done incredible things for rescue Will, Shannon and a handful other passengers outside from their plane, which after the horrorfic water-ditching was sunk as deep as 60 m. beneath the water-surface.
The ideal solution for Hawaiian Airlines is actually all classes alternating current plugs DL/UA/AA do this on their widebodies and selected narrowbodies
Nice report. I’ve flown on Hawaiian MANY times, and their service really is superior to other U.S. airlines. But I would disagree with you about the 787 replacing the 767. The 767s have been out of HA’s fleet for many years. It is the older A-330s, some of which are getting long in the tooth, that the 787 is replacing, as well as augmenting the fleet to open new destinations. My friend is an A-330 captain, but he is not moving up to the 787; he is quite senior now on the 330, so moving to the 787 would push him down the seniority list on that aircraft.
Thanks! The main context behind why I said that the 787s were replacing the 767 was because Hawaiian indicated (albeit back in 2019 before a lot of things happened) that they were replacing their aging fleet of 767s with A330s, A321neos, and 787s. This was also back when deliveries were scheduled to start in 2021. Because of delays though the timing is less than ideal now.
Boeing has had some serious quality control issues, and it’s clear that it’s a company wide problem and not just a commercial aviation problem as they managed to get two astronauts stuck in space on Starliner. If they don’t get their act together soon enough they might struggle to stay afloat in the future.
Great trip report. Never have flown on a 787, but would love to. Beautiful, quiet aircraft.

Great trip report! Have you heard Boeing was sanctioned by NTSB for violating for the details of 737 MAX that hasn't been released? What do you think?
