Great video! You clearly know your drinks, and you talk about them in an interesting way. Definitely earned a sub. I'll for sure keep an eye for any of these rums next time I'm out about.
You mentioned drinks that aren't available in the UK. There's one rum I've tried once that went down so easily and really surprised me with how mild it was (in a good way). It's called Reykjavik Rum, and naturally, it's only available in Iceland. I got some because my Dad bought a small bottle as a gift for me when he was passing through Iceland on his way back to the US from the UK. I only tried it once, and that was probably a year and a half ago, but I remember it being rather nice. Good news is that my recently made wife is also passing through Iceland on her way to stay with me for a few days, and was awesome enough to buy me some as a gift. In a day or two I'll be able to confirm whether or not it tastes as awesome as I remember it being, but if you ever come across any, I would definitely recommend checking it out!
Cheers for the recommendation!!! Will look out for it.
With inflation you won't have a choice but to go over 30 quid because there won't be any left under lol
Ha, well there’s a hell of a way to go before the £25-£35 Rums get close. But yeah a few £45 Rums could be over £50 in the next 6 months.
I am wanting to try that Plantation XO. And the the stuff from Flor de Cana
Loving the new Studio by the way! 👍🏻
I just order the Hamilton Florida Rum Society rum yesterday, the Real McCoy 3 a local rum and looking for a Demerara rum. The El Dorado 8 and Hamilton are the only two brands I’ve found so I want to compare it. I have read that the el dorado is so high in sugar though. I bought Angostura 5 a few days ago cause I love Trinidad and Tobago for the music. Made a old Cuban with it and it got lost in the drink.
El Dorado stripped their Sugar back in late 2010s... so not that sweet now...if at all. But i know certain "Demerara" Brands still tout ED is highly dosed to make their brands sound better to the consumer...
Steve I think it’s time you go exotic and go the the country’s where the run is made. Distillery tours and Caribbean exploration ( a good holiday too)
I’d love to. Who’s gonna sponsor me?!
great video Steve
Rums to add. Chairman’s Spiced, the el Dorado and probably the rum I know least about Black Tot. The bar looks cool, nice camera cuts creates interest, bravo
back bar looking beautiful, good choice
Cheers guys. Loving the Bar at the moment. 🥰
Steve you did a list a few years back and chairman’s reserve and cut to the spice
Was in your top 10 were these just spiced ? Will you ever do just spiced rum best of videos? Say best rums of 2022 and the best spiced rums
Of 2022?
I’ve only had about 4-5 new Spiceds in 2022 so pretty irrelevant video for me.
Matusalem 15yr is currently my no1
And Bacoo 12yr is delicious for the price
I don't see the El Dorado 12 for sale around me but I see the 15 year, is the 12 better than the 15?
I was going to try brugal 1888 but not a fan of sherry finished rums. I may buy Santiago de Cuba 11 instead cheers Andrew
Have you tried any rums from the Foursquare Distillery?...No color, no sugar, no additives with a high ABV. Phenomenal sipping rum and must try for any rum enthusiasts.
Yes I have. Yes. And you’ll also see the Doorlys behind the bar. Be careful on the no colours though. I know you’re talking about ECS Rum. But Foursquare does obvs own and produce Doorlys as their goto Rum. And that certainly does have colour added to it. In fact the majority of Rums that are masses produced over and over again will always have colour purely for consistency. The wider debate is does that colour effect the taste. Well, if you actually taste E150a, it’s hard to believe that it doesn’t. But no ECS Rums don’t… no cask series will as they don’t need consistent colour. Some of the EVS Rums are okay. A lot are very samey to me. It’s only drastically different cask finishes that I personally think are that different.
I stand corrected, and thanks for your feedback....Their are so many good rums i've tried over the years, and the list continues to grow...New York rum sipper!
Still haven’t found your rum review channel ? Can you send a link please 🙏🏻
It’s in the Links of the Video. It’s in the link of the Pinned comment. It’s in 3 places in Discord. Im making you work for it…
what is you opinion on myers for mixing and sipping?
Not epic, but decent. It does a job.
Hi Steve, do you have a bottle of kings ginger for sale in original bottle, i remember you reviewing ?...best regards
Ha. No. That’s long been finished.
Heya! Just found your channel. The discord server seems to be closed now, will it be opening back up soon?
Sorry, I closed my Discord as it started to drag me away from the stuff I want to focus on. 👍
Do you know LAODI which made in Laos by Japanese and Japanese? They got a gold medal of IWSC London 2020
Nope. Not heard of them. But someone in my Discord has started to look at Japanese Rum.
Hello! Have you tried Dictador 20?
Yup 👍️
Also how about top 10 rums to mix
Already done 2-3 times in last few months.
I guess I need to grab that Santiago: not tried any of the range
11 has always been a staple. I have a bottle of the older pre Diageo 11yo too.
I got a free sample of the 11 from MoM, looking forward to trying it now.
Had the bar changed?
No mate. Been like that a few years…

It’s difficult to do a top 10 👍
Sorry but chairman’s reserved spiced is the king of rum in 2022
Wrong!! Ron Cubay Anejo Suave!
@@PamD1 hahah
Smith and cross 🤢 didn’t enjoy it at all
So much talk
Thanks 👍️
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! 1st.
Try the Copalli from Belize
Honestly, I find them rather bland. I have them here... but I don't know how they fit in. Cos they're just "normalish" Rums. Cane juice wise... don't come close to Renegade, Clement, Neisson, Rhum JM etc. Even Paranubes, or Uruapan from Mexico. Copalli are decent, but nothing that makes to stop and take note which is a shame. Even the Cacao one is missing Cacao! Just my opinion... but I think one shared by a lot of people, as there really isn't much noise about them. Real shame.
Spiced rum for
Me still kills
It everytime!!!
Loving the new bar set up! ❤
Good video! I am normally a whisky drinker but since last month Rum opened me into a new world. DON PAPA MASKARA, MY FAVORITE . Do you know some alternatives like that for me?
I do tend to stay away from Don Papa cos of the excessive sweetness and the fact most are “Spiced” or “Flavoured”. A lot are also limited releases I think. Take that Masskara…wasn’t it infused with Lime and Honey? Plus we’ll over £50/$60 in the UK when it was available. So yeah…I never tasted it.
@@StevetheBarmanUK i am more a whisky drinker and for rum I like the honey sweet smooth tastes.
Maskara cost here in netherlands just 30 pound.
The plantation is decent.
Honestly NOTHING comes close to the Ron Abuello 12 year. NOTHING.
I know this is subjective but taste it and then tell me something that beats it. I had Ron abuello 30 year and it still didn't come close to the 12 year.
Two James Doctor Bird Pineapple. The original Doctor Bird is so funky I can't sip it neat, the absolutely gnarliest(but banging on cocktails), but the special Pineapple release is phenomenal for sipping.
i have two i really want to try in 2023 you got them behind you smith and cross and worthy park i really fallen fort the
Jamaican rum´s due to did platain explore pach and tha have the xaymaca that took my heaer so need more of that kind of rum did just see you hadeJamaican rum on buget that iam going to watch after this
don Q are good rums for the money I just got the Vermouth cask finish really good only 33 I still want to try the 1888 but I really enjoyed doorlys xo
Great video. My picks (which I am sure nobody else included) were from Cuba, and Gaudalope so no "English style".
Would love to try the 11 got the 8 from teso bargain 21 pound had the ron cubay savue didn't last long lol 😂
While I really appreciate your channel, you have cost me a TON of money.
Steve, have you found anything to replace the schweppes muscovado 1783 for mixing with rum?
Monin Muscovado Syrup plus Soda and a touch of Monin Vanilla.
Finished studio looks amazing.
Gutted my Christmas present made the don't buy list.
As with everything, you’ll have your own palate. You may love it. When I first had it at the Rum Show I was wowed cos I was having it with Banana Chips and Chocolate. But, having it at home, I just can’t get into it.
Some great rums to try there. However, you've 'got' to try the Duppy Share White. For the money, it's insane. Awesome Daiquiris. It has loads of Jamaican funk fruit. Surprisingly distinctive. At under £20 in any Tesco? Steal.
Yeah got it. It’s featured a few times on videos. But for the price, doesn’t even compete with Kingston 62 for me. Let alone the TBRC Signature 1…which in trade world is actually cheaper than Duppy. Duppy does a decent job for me. But it’s not brilliant. Deffo don’t get “funk fruit” from it. Soz 🙈😂
@@StevetheBarmanUK The Kingston 62. It's on my list of whites to try. If what you're saying is true then happy days. Getting a good white around £20 in store it not easy and when you're paying a fiver just for one bottle, can be annoying to buy online. I get the funk fruit really strong on the Duppy White but each to their own haha. What's the TBRC? Not heard of that one.
What are your thoughts on the Barbancourt 15?
We don’t get Barbancourt in the UK. No one imports it.
The Appleton 8 for me is better than the 12.
Why Better? I'm not arguing - but for others...newbies...reading, explain. Taste, Price, Value for Money, Versatility???
@@StevetheBarmanUK a little sweeter, less oak, more funk (although mild for a Jamaican rum), more vigorous, nicer mouthfeel.
