As a Japanese speaker, the subtle change from referring to Keizo using kanji to using katakana and then back to kanji was very well done. For those who don't know Japanese people's names are usually written in Kanji whereas katakana is usually reserved for animals so referring to a "person" using katakana is very dehumanizing.

I love the vibe all of Mister Manticores videos give off. basically no jump scares, no corrupted footage or glitches, no distorted computer generated voice. All of it is incredibly calm and relaxed. Like something you'd see as an informational video in a museum. That honestly makes the horror aspects feel more real and scary
I get so peeved when an ad breaks the tension that gets built up in these kinds of stories. Because narritvely this is well written, there is so much tension that gets built up. It's as palpable as the freezing winds you imahibe Keizo feeling.

I’m not MatPat but I figured it out "We’re their warm children." "Hell is real and it’s cold." "What will happen when it’s warm?" It probably means global warming. Creatures have to adapt to warmer climates like we did. We were the predecessors to these creatures (aka their “warm”counterparts)
I applied for a marine tech position in Antarctica last month, I even purchased a leather bound journal to keep while I was there. Sure would be a wonderful life experience to see the free continent. And possibly result in me dying mysteriously.
I know this is silly and has nothing to do with the myth or the video, but I just love how "ningen" (human) is similar to "ninguém" (Portuguese for "no one", "no body") and it adds something slightly creepier to this whole thing.
Name me another analog horror that is wholesome like this and is also well made. AlexKansas still making the great content even after the big project is gone.
From the little that I could gather, here's my theory: the ningen are some type of spiritual creature or extraterrestrial entity who mimic the human form and voice. The "Department of Human Studies" we see in the beginning could be a secret government organization dedicated to research on these creatures, meaning this is not the last and maybe not the first time the ningen have been encountered. The question "what if gets warm", is eerie, as the cold, faraway distance of Antarctica might be the only thing keeping humanity safe from these monsters. I say they're malevolent, but could be otherwise. They could be completely alien in nature as well.
i know people jump at the idea of any of your new content becoming a MM-esque new series but honestly i’d really love to see more stand-alone videos if that’s the intention.
I am glad you, as an artists, still interested in what you do, even tho a lot of people recently lost interest in their projects, but you still deliver, and quality only grows with time

The ningen is such an interesting cryptid. It’s like a mermaid but not quite as human as they are. It’s a shame almost nobody has ever covered it.

Fun Fact: The Gen 9 Pokemon Certitan and its pre evo Cetoddle are both based off the Ningen.
