May 3rd, 2020 my son was taken from this world before I ever got to hold him. This song took a whole different meaning for me. The world is cruel and mean. Rest in Peace Hendrix Beck.
I'm sorry 💔
My condolences
Damn that was my bday sorry brother🙏🏾💔
I'm so sorry for your loss, that pain is like no other but he knows your love
DeAndre Beck sorry for your loss my guy. RIP to your little man. 🙏🏻

Sounds like this artist shares your sentiments. This def sounds like soul to me. A bit sad but, definitely a beautiful soulful piece. @ ChildishGambino Thank you!

“There was a time before you,
And there will be a time after you.
Though these bodies are not our own...
Walk Tall Little One.
Walk Tall!” - Childish Gambino
Straight up, this verse feels like an advice to take value with the time you have and try to grow with it. Walk Tall, Little ones.
Ye
Can you explain these bodies are not our own
Wat is meaning ?
@@jcrivera1700 Our earthly bodies are just a vessel for something far more greater. Our souls.
Gambino has been slept on for far too long, glad he's finally getting the recognition he deserves. He's killing it with this new album.
Jasmine V trust man!!
Lmao what world you living in? Its been a long time since gambino been "slept on"
His last album got tons of airplay and was nominated for 2 grammy's. He was hardly "slept on"
Apocalypse1377 the people I know really don't appreciate him as an artist, so that's why I feel that way
Dark Blade compared to others Donald was definitely slept on, you couldn't just ask anyone if they knew who Childish Gambino or Donald Glover and get a yes response until recently. Hell, most people I know still have no idea who the hell Donald is.
bruh this album cover is my face while listening to the album
TheOfficialKazan 😂😂😂
same lmao
Hold this W
Me too man! Holy shit!
I heard it has something to do with that show Atlanta he stared in earlier this year but I never got to watch it myself so maybe it's not true
This song makes me want to be a better father and ion even have kids

Now play it when you got a kid😬

@@timmieturnuh3951 You stranded in the desert? Cause you lookin mighty thirsty.
If you don't like the album because he's not rapping then you don't appreciate real music and the true talent this guy has.
His best music is in this soulful style. He's not a bad rapper but every rap song he makes is one more that could've been like this.
@@btuttle8 nah 3005 is great
@@btuttle8Nah. He’s just a versatile artist.
@@xxxstellarxxx Yeah ik he's good at soul and hip hop but I don't think many people will say that's he's better at rap than soul music
It Seems most of the people who were dissapointed by this album were expecting rap, but I'm glad he's not boxing himself in.
Cameron Wilson I was thankful we were getting Bino period. lol
Jarrick Williams same for a while I thought he really was done with music.
He said he wasnt messing with rap no more in 2015.
+Destin Pickett Then again he did make the song paperboi
Destin Pickett I like the fact that every album he makes is like a Bookmark is in his life including this one; Although I might not understand it I'm not gonna write him off; and who knows maybe the show will inspire him to rap again. :)
I'm not even gone front... when he started singing "Don't take my Baby Boy" the second time, I shead a little tear. Rarely do albums do that to me.
Greatest ever i just wish one of my eight children came from childish gambino squad DEEP @ DIMPLES. Com
So powerful man it’s crazy
are you TELLING ME THIS IS A VOICE OF A MAN? WTF HOW. HOW.
the way in witch he sings his voice, purposely to evoke emotion, fucking genius
i read it as "i shat a little tear"
As a new dad the fear of losing my baby permeates my subconscious and this song gives me such comfort knowing that I'm not alone in this.
Good luck man.
We got you brother
i hope you are doing well right now
life comes and goes.
His vocal range is INSANE!! What a talent!
i see a lot of people disappointed, they don't understand the artistry of the album and how complex and awesome it is, i love this album.
JadenStudios it's not that we don't understand, it's just we wanted old childish and we were met with this
JadenStudios i actually didn't like most of the older stuff but this right here.. is pure fire.. funk n fire!
Most people are disappointed just because they didn't expect funk to be the entire album, not because they "don't understand" the art.
There's not even much to understand lol it's just not the sound most of us were expecting. It's still good tho

I really hate how Redbone (which I liked) got all the attention and didn't let people appreciate how good the whole album is.
Honestly, I think ‘Me and Your Mama’ and ‘Baby Boy’ are both better than ‘Redbone’.
Frr, i don't even like redbone anymore as I did cus it got toooooo popular would hear it playing everywhere :/
If not for redbone I would've never gotten to the rest of the album so I can't be mad
@@mr.starfish4965 me and your mama maybe but not Baby boy imo
Pedro Barker needs to start his journey in the rest of the album too! :D

Appreciate that ❤️
we stand behind you
the passion and emotion behind this track. he has so many pent up thoughts and repressed them for so long that this song has haunting yet beautiful vocals at the end because that’s the only way to let it out. i can’t help but feel the pain and fear of losing his son, and this song is so complex and just amazing. Donald Glover is a musical genius, and i hate to see him retire so soon. i love this being personal, and it helps give perspective on a father losing his son.
I love how this song is about his new son. You can feel the emotion from a parent standpoint and it's just beautiful
its talking about different topics like how Zombies is about corporations taking money "forcefully" from the people and us purchasing whatever they sell bc they say so, basically telling u to STAY WOKE even the album name gives it away lol its a nice concept album
oceanwavesandcocaine It's one of the most creative albums of the year!
It's also a tribute of a movie called baby boy.
@@oceanwavesandcocaine1129 i think the " stay woke" song is redbone, not zombie
The bass on this track is so ridiculously 🔥 🔥 🔥
I don't have kids and I still feel like crying.

I know this song is about his son but it strikes really personal with me at the moment. My dog passed away a few days ago, and I've been really down since then. Today I thought about this song, that "little hands, little feet..." line brought back the days when he was just a baby in my arms. Listening to "Don't take him away," just fucks me up every time man.
This album makes me feel like I work a hard 9-5 and catch the train home from work

Who else has a black aunt or mom who would always play this type of music in the car?
I mean I'm not black, but I love this type of music and always listened to Motown, Soul, Blues, and Jazz with my grandpa. So good 👌
Bean Nigga how was that irrelevant? Haha
max baskins fuck off THIS IS MUSIC.
Alamda A. Balqhin. Stop trying to tell people how they should feel about music. Clearly this vibe reminded Max of some good memories, and put him in a good space. Thats what music is for. Don't feel insecure or angry because you can't relate. Just find your space. Now go sit ya ass in timeout.
Bean
Max was sharing a moment of when he would listen to this type of music with his family members, and I was sharing the same thing. I didn't think that it was irrelevant lol, but I'm sorry you feel that way.

The production on the album is ambitious, Gambino never fails to impress.
Deburke321 couldn't have said it better my friend.
Gambitious, you could say.
Deburke321 wow I'm subbed to you this is cool didn't know you like bino
Para La La Bohemia La La Bohemia La Para
He's definitely failed to impress in some of his projects, this album is pretty great though
There's just nothing like this besides this. I can go listen to the old classics, and they're good, but this is on another level. In a just world there'd be a whole genre of this kind of modern R&B and it'd have big money involved and open award shows. Pure artistry.
Go listen to Sly and the Family Stone's "There's a Riot Going On" and get back to us.
That “yaaah” at 5:55 gives me the chills... beautiful stuff!
This dude is very talented he does everything
He's like the blk JT, Funny and good Actor and also a great singer/artist
Kyizen Terrible comparison
@@dripz167 yeah that was terrible xD

It's unfortunate to see hate on these songs only because he isn't rapping. He is so much more than just a rapper. He's an amazing artist and I feel like this album establishes that fact.
The keyboard solo at the end drives me crazy with happiness. It just grows more and more beautiful each second it goes on I be bumping that in the car screaming my ass off. This song is gonna be timeless.
Little hands, little feet
Tiny heart, tiny beat
Oh, thinkin' about the time we spent falling in love (in love)
I don't wanna leave you
I don't want him to see you
But oh, when mama cries and daddy's lies
Oh my, please don't take him away, no, no, no
Don't take him away
Oh, cause I had my doubts, oh!
Don't take my baby boy
Don't take my pride and joy
I hope I stay close
I hope I stay close
All the pain, all the tears
Many nights, many years
This love for me is fading
You waited, but I never came home to you
I've never lied about us
We were never supposed to be together
When you see me with some other one and they know your son
Oh, please don't take him away

Frank Ocean - Blonde and Gambinos album at a tie
Donald Glover said he didn't use any pitch corrections on this album. He said he used the vocoder on California and that's it. He said his voice is a instrument and he really played around with it.

We all agree that the long song are the best songs in this album??
Im at work shedding tears to this song. I don't even have a kid 😕
We see lots of people saying this isn't rap, it's risky, they don't like it, etc, etc.
After all, rap has always been inspired by Funk and Soul music, using their samples over time. For me, Donald Glover is only going back to the roots and showcasing his versatility as well as good taste in music. One last thing, I believe he is going to reach a whole different set of audience with this album. Such as fans of Maxwell, Raphael Saadiq and so on. Well, I hope it's a good bet on his part!
Heard About music. good job man, you get an A on your summary you can turn it in at the end of class.😂
Jay Ess Cee true rap connoisseurs love pimpng(What we southerners call soul misic). I prefer soul music over this mumble drug overdosed rap.
This isn't rap this is R&B or souls

I was simply astonished as i saw my phone notify me that bino just uploaded last 9 songs! I was like no way! I love everything he does.
how was that Friday night
Yeah, how was it Mohamed?
those final 30 seconds are the prime of the the whole song
tbh i agree
I can't wait until I'm older when I have kids and tell them "This is the stuff we listened to back in the day"
Even though he did not necessarily "rap" he showed what he can do vocally. Showed us the "Flight of the Navigator" side of him. This touches home for all the real music lovers.
people are really up in arms about him not rapping on this album, but I feel like its a really good change of pace for him. He's really going back to the roots of modern day music. He has a fantastic voice for doing R&B/soul.
Keith George and i bet they will never play this on the radio... sad what music is becoming, no emotion or feelings like this..
yeah, its a real bummer. Its weird cause im seeing a lot of his more Rap oriented fans getting kinda upset. But a lot of them dont realized that R&B/Soul is where that all came from. And Gambino really captures that feel of classic R&B/soul. This is probably one of my favourite Albums at the moment. its just such a good turn for him.

Forget everything you heard from Gambino before. All the rapping and funny lines. Forget it. Act as if this is a completely different person that you have never heard before, and I can almost guarantee that you will enjoy this album. I think we have this expectation of Because the Internet and Camp, and we try to make those the judging stick. Also, I think most people who enjoy Gambino's music are between like 16-30. So a lot of us aren't used to this kind of Funkadelic / Jimi Hendrix / Prince sound, because it's just not from our time. I had the luxury of parents always playing that music in my house but some don't. So I also suggest going back and listening to some old school funk and soul and rock from the 60s and 70s. I think it'll help appreciate this album even more. Because as a Gambino fan, I can honestly say that I love this more than his rapping. The whole sound and groove of this album is amazing. And Ik it's early but I think this might be my favorite album from him.
jumar moffatt tru that
jumar moffatt I guess you can say people don't like it...because the internet ;)
Agree with your POV Jumar, Many rappers get scrutinized because all their music begins to sound the same. nothing by Gambino has really sounded the same since he came out. yea he got styles he pulled almost straight from the funk era, but i think its refreshing and unique to have his own interpretation. it makes me think this whole album was inspired by how well his fans received that interlude track on Because the Internet entitled "Urn" which i will listen to on repeat all day.
jumar moffatt that's what I've been doing lol. I just keep thinking "alright, he can still rap, but he can still produce good shit like this, so I'm fine"
jumar moffatt me in a nutshell, when i listened to the album the first time, i was disappointed due to the lack of rap. but once you shed the expectations of hearing him rap, give it a few more listens, the vibe will come then
I'm digging this album so far, it's giving me an old school vibe
